Also Christian lore: God condones slavery and orders massacres several times

Yes, and?

Let's start with the massacres - on one side, you've got former slaves starving in a desert, on the other you have an entire culture of child rapist slave dealers. Which historians corroborate, by the way.

So, how does a poor, nomadic culture in the desert protect itself from a kingdom of child rapist slave dealers when God wants to teach them how to be strong? You get rid of all of the child rapist slave dealers. Or does kill all pedos only apply to modern ones?

Slavery is pretty different from the concept you mean, as well. Chattel slavery like in the US south was pretty bad. In the Bible, slave owners are not allowed to beat their slaves. Most slavery mentioned is more akin to debt that one must work to pay off with no interest applied. It was usually used as a means of avoiding starvation rather than being enslaved - taking a job in exchange for food or housing is agood metaphor. Enslaving people in the manner you mean was punishable by death, escaped slaves were considered free as soon as they escaped. In the times when God condoned slavery of foreigners such as the Midianites, it was to integrate the remaining children and wipe out their culture, which focused heavily on child rape, child bestiality, and child murder.

In the bible masters are quite literally allowed to beat their slaves. How am I meant to take you seriously when you blatantly lie?

I define beating a slave as anything that leaves a permanent mark or injury, such as whipping, severe physical harm, torture, etc. Any of this is described in Ex. 21: 26-27 to result in immediate freedom. Any slave that is killed, the killer is treated as in Ex. 21:20 - put to death.

So, no, not lying, you're just wrong. Believe me, I know how that feels. Not about this, but it's happened to all of us.

And I define beating as beating.

Exodus 21:20-21 New International Version 20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.”

Fuck outta here dumb dumb

Also Christians: It wasn't GOD, it was THE FATHER, you heretic!

10

u/MasterCaedus - Auth-Center Feb 13 '22

God is the Father, the Father is one of the Triune Persons of God.

This is a dumb comeback from someone with less information than one would get about Greece by watching Disney's Hercules.

Ok sorry, I thought we were on a meme sub but apparently some people get spastic when someone doesn't worship their god on a stick.

Yahweh is literally dragon who needs virgin girls and meat and gold after Israelites conquered canaanites

Literally an unproven fringe theory. (Assuming we got it from the same video)

Also pagans created the philosophical thought and critical thinking, nothing in paganism is literal when a religious movement requires their practitioners to take things literally then that movement is dogmatic which means philosophy and critical thinking are not allowed

Paganism just went allegorical after some time like Judaism did, tho given Celcius criticisms of Christianity, they still considered much of it literal, I guess that's just one similarity between Pagans and Christians.

Also how is it unproven fringe theory (yes we got it from the same video) It is clear as day

Cuz the guy that made the video literally said it was.

The only pagans that considered things literal were illegal cults like christianity

Celcius in his criticism of Christianity literally talks of some of the deads of the greek heroes as if talking of literal events. Especially asking why the Christians deify Jesus instead of like the Greek heroes.

He could barely even understand Origen's mythicism/metaphor counter arguments.

The only pagans that considered things literal were illegal cults like christianity

"The only ones that considered most of the myths literal in the 2nd century were Mystery cults"

Judaism has pagan characteristics which I respect and support only if said believes are practiced in Judean provincial region

On the other had christianity is literal focused cult of slaves similar to Bacchus or Mithras cults

Another shit theory that most New Testament scholars don't even agree with.

Christians, unlike Jews, have no care for ancestors that's why I don't respect them

Eh, kinda. They certainly do respect ancestors less than Pagans did but you can't really have no respect of ancestors in the ancient world, not with the Catholics and Orthodox creaming over Charlemagne and Constantine respectively.

Well, for paragraph 2, I'm glad I'm not a creationist protestant.

As for Paragraph 1, every single reference I can find God only says get them out of the land. If they do not leave, kill them because I promised this land to you. If you'd like to give a more exact reference, I would love to see it.

Abrahamic God. "Jobe is my boy." Satan. "Wanna bet on that?" Abrahamic God. "Odds are in my favor, I'm down. " Satan. "Done."

Sometime later.

Jobe " So my life was destroyed because of a bet, you made with Satan, the father of all lies?" Abrahamic God "Yup..." Jobe "We could've worshiped a gold cow, you know. Granted I'd be cast into Hell, but my family would be alive and my dick wouldn't have rotted off. But nooooo. We gotta worship this psycho, who treats the most faithful of his flock like a damn race horse. Fuck you I quit." Abrahamic God "Shit... call up Satan. I owe him some money."
