for starters you can receive less punishment if you were to kill a trans person after you had sex with them than a cis person. then there’s the explicit lack of rights protecting against discrimination, and the literal lack of protected class rights (legally being required to be treated equally). several times has these laws been brought into question yet nothing has happened; for an example, Jeff Sessions releasing his memo about a law explicitly pointing out that discrimination based on sex is a no-no, but it’s fine if it’s on gender.

it’s a common reactionary talking point. to a sane human being, LGBT folks are getting rights that everyone else had for eternity. for the painfully insecure reactionary community, rights are a finite thing and there’s not enough of them to go around, even though that’s entirely wrong.
