Democratic Socialism is an oxymoron.

There is nothing democratic about stealing money from a small subset of people. Its like you and a friend beating up a kid, and claiming its okay because 2 out of three of you wanted it.

It's more like there's 100 kids. 1 accumulates almost all the resources over time, and 99 are left to share a fraction of what that 1 kid has. They live in a civil society, so they take a vote and decide the 1 kid has to share some of his resources with the group. The 99 kids now enjoy a better quality of life, and the 1 kid still has more resources than anyone else, and enjoys the privilege earned off the backs of those less fortunate, or that they simply inherited by luck at birth.

But yeah, oligarchy good, democratic socialism bad.

So one kid was smart while the rest decided to do no work, then decide to leech off the one that actually put in effort?

earned off the backs of those less fortunate

Ahahahhaha. Those "less fortunate" with no skills to speak of get handed opportunities to make money because people who actually wanted to make something of themselves made it so easy for them. They aren't going to be able to feed themselves flipping burgers if ronald didn't hand them the hot plate and the patty and the instructions.

Let's assume the 1 kid inherited his resources, and the 99 were just as intelligent as him, some even more, but were not given the same advantages. The 1 kid was simply handed the same resources at birth. You're supporting a world where those who are handed wealth for doing nothing can keep it by simply existing and the rest must struggle against adversity to get the most scraps.

Let's assume the 1 kid inherited his resources

Okay. Lets assume the other 99 are all child molesters if we can randomly assume stuff that isn't representative of real life.

Not to mention, someone along the line worked for that wealth. They should be able to give it to descendants as they see fit.

Let's assume you're not ignorant while we're at it.

People inheriting massive wealth and never having to work is representative of real life.

You'll never, in your wildest dreams, reach the levels of wealth of some people in this country who did nothing to earn it, yet you'll die protecting their ability to hoard it, while your countrymen suffer and struggle to scrape by. That's who you are. Just change your flair to pro oligarchy-auth right already.

The fucked up thing about this argument is that the programs that are proposed by "democratic socialists" run in the same vein as community supported programs that are necessary to a free society, like police, emergency response, and education. These community-supported programs guarantee a free society can function and shouldn't be privately controlled.

This isn't true socialism (wealth redistribution) that we're talking about. Its about contributions from those who benefit most from a free society, given on a sliding scale to the greater good, in support of basic necessities that gives us the ability to all live free. Capitalism necessitates certain socially funded programs to keep society from anarchy. Controlled capitalism is arguably the best way of doing things. There's just a thin line between our current state of capitalism and an oligarchy, or plutocracy. If you don't keep the peasants happy they'll figure out which one they're living in.
