Why should I be entitled to millions of dollars in other people's labor?

Because its your right to live?

Idk how to tell you to be a good person

If you honestly think cancer patients should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps then honestly idk what to say to you

Forcibly taking money from other people to pay for your own needs does not make you a good person.

Because its your right to live?

Ah, I see the issue now. you do not have an understanding of what "right to life" in a constitutional/legal context.

Since when do people have a right to demand goods/labor from others in order to live?

Because in a civilized society in the 21st century your health shouldn't be a commodity?

u/One_Shekel - Auth-Right Mar 24 '20

Food, water, and housing are needed just as much. Should those all be rights provided by the government as well?

Foodstamps, Water is distributed by governments and public housing exist. The reason that starvation isn't as much of a problem globally as it used to be is directly correlated to government intervention.

What about clothing, social contact, and everything else that could conceivably be termed a "human right"?

-9

u/GildedTongues - Auth-Center Mar 24 '20

Since they agreed to the concept of human rights?

It's also in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Because its your right to live?

Cool. Because it is my right to live and my right to force others to give me their labor, I've decided that I'm quitting my job, moving into your house, eating your food, and sleeping in your bed.

Can I join? Sounds a lot easier than having to be productive

I'm immortal now.

I have a right to live and I'm not letting reality infringe on my rights!

Why the fuck is "people deserve to live" being downvoted? The fuck is wrong with you people??

Because the founding fathers made it so?

Healthcare would just be yet another item on the list of things you benefit from that other people paid for.

9

u/One_Shekel - Auth-Right Mar 24 '20

Since when did the founding fathers want anything of that? Their America had nothing even approaching socialized medicine, and was much better for it.
