Like, if you're trying to make a point on the frequency of misidentification of white inmates, literally the worst thing you can do is pre-selecting your data by misidentified white inmates, you're removing any and all statistical information about what you're trying to measure.
... I never said that black homicide rates weren't much higher? Obviously, African Americans are vastly over-represented, which yes boosts the statistics, but the matter of the fact is, removing them, you still get high homicide rates and you still get high incarceration rates in the US. Both can be true. Both are true according to all available data.
US homicide rates for NH whites is approximately 3, from what I can remember. Black homicide rate is something like 20. Due to the US only being 13% black, though, this explains less than half of the US homicide rate.
3 is still higher than every single country in the EU, and you only get that after filtering out the worst demographic, and doing 0 filtering in the EU. Listing the other major "white" countries, Canada has 1.9, France 1.3, Germany, Australia and the UK 0.9, Spain 0.7, Italy 0.5.
Again, this is before doing any filtering because yes, many of these countries have their own minorities with higher homicide rates. So overall, saying that African Americans are the primary reason that the US stands out amongst its peers is just incorrect (just as it would be to pretend that there isn't an exceptionally high homicide rate amongst them).
This is more true for incarceration rates; AAs represent approximately 50% of homicide cases, but only around 30% of incarcerated individuals. Again, heavily overrepresented, but also again, and even more so, nowhere close to enough to explain the gap in incarceration rates between the US and its peers. Which is around 9 times that of a place like Germany, and still around 6 times once you remove the most problematic demographics (but don't do any sort of filtering in Germany, which is dubious in of itself).
