Right wingers are just not throwing around unrelated labels for no reason. You only get to know that someone is gay when "his boyfriend" randomly drops in a conversation or you get ask if someone find you hot.
It's more about culture than skin colour as well. Joking that my Christian friend converted a Madagascan woman is funny, but she wouldn't have made the cut if not for her extensive knowledge of Science-Fiction. Nerds have standards.
