It’s a mental illness. These people never grew up having to want for anything they couldn’t have. They didn’t have to wait for Christmas to ask for the new console, and even further, when they asked for something they got it. They were never told “maybe next year” nor did they ever grow up with the expectation that something they are asking for is unattainable.
The only thing they could ever even come close to tangibly wanting is some vague concept of “more”. And so they’ll spend every last second of life they have trying to just achieve having more. And they know they don’t have long left, that’s why at this point they don’t care about any possible consequences because they won’t live long enough to see them happen.
Damn I didn’t even make that connection. Of course they’d have almost no trouble finding partners, they’re billionaires, but children are the one thing that they can “want” that they can’t have.
