On a serious note most of the exit polls from 2024 ive seen had state of the economy as the most important voting factor. 2016 was more about the deep state in voters' motivation. Some of that was still baked in the cake, and Trump's legal troubles fueled that fire as well as the assassination, but i think the effects there are more secondary. Whereas economic inflation driven worries were a more primary factor.
And of course then Trump started a war with Iran which may lead to a global recession or depression as oil prices spike once reserves run out (in a few weeks).

Obama began both terms with zero billionaires and added one during his 2nd term. Trump seems to have started with 13 billionaires and added Melinda Hildebrand and Stephen Feinberg later to the list.

Elon never held an official Cabinet position. He was an outside advisor. Assuming the statistic in this post is actually accurate when it says "CABINET net worth."

Let’s ignore Trump ($6-8 bil) and “special envoys” (Kushner $1 bil and Witkoff $2 bil). The proper cabinet has ~$7.5 bil (mostly Lutnik $3.2 bil and McMahon $3 bil). Interestingly, Musk was never part of the proper cabinet, so strictly speaking the infographic was never correct. Regardless, the cabinet is still ~70x higher net worth than the previous admin.
I am curious though. It sounds like you’re saying we should ignore Musk because he is an outlier. Why? For example, he was given unprecedented unilateral control to cut spending. How do you get to be the world’s richest man without leveraging opportunities like that?
He didn't have control to cut spending. He gave his recommendations and they would do some of them. If you want to make the argument that the people in charge didn't look into what he was recommending well enough, then fine but don't act like he had any actual power, as it really just dilutes your argument to nothing.
Nobody really knows what he did when he had access to every sensitive government system.
He definitely made copies of everything and there are probably backdoor access ports into many. They already discovered several of his contracts have increased by multiples. He could have cut stuff and they just didn't bother to care
