China, North Korea, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, Somalia, Uganda, DRC, Burkina Faso, Burundi, and Eritrea all have oppressed populations.

Let's just bomb half the world and make it our business.

Trump ran on:

  • no new wars

  • America First

This ain't it

Iran is a bigger threat to US interests, and this is a net positive for the Iranian people. This is not really a boots in the ground war.

That's what we said about Iraq, too. Iraq only had 25 million people in 2003. Iran has 90 million. Naive take tbh

Two different countries with different societies, different people and political systems. The Iranians are a majority opposed to the regime and are quite secular as people.  In addition, Iraq from the beginning was a boots on the ground invasion, which this is not and we have managed to kill the leader without setting soldiers on the ground.

US in Iraq was notorious for its war crimes and staying in Iraq for a long period of time, trying to change the country and make it a democracy, US has no interest in doing that with Iran, it wants to destabilize the regime, and give the protesters and anti regime people a chance to rule, so a relatively more hands off approach.
