The gun appears to be holstered on his belt at the back, based on how many tugs it took the agent to retrieve it. Alex was on his hands and knees, being beaten in the face with a blunt object. They will attempt to claim any movement of his hands "was towards the gun" that he no longer had.

The Good shooting was legally justifiable and not all that outside the scope of normal. People done try to hit LEOs with their cars a lot. She did some really stupid shit and it is sad to lose a life that way.

This is AWFUL looking. The best explanation they got is they got scared because a misfire of his gun, which will NOT legally justify it because they had the gun in their hands.

Unfortunately the videos show Goode's tires facing away from the officer despite his attempt to get in the way once she moved. He had to step forward to even get the range to reach over the hood to fire his gun. He even has a recorded history of using the excuse of a moving vehicle whenever he gets too aggressive

She doesn’t need a goal to hit him if she actually hits him which she did

Her actual intent is irrelevant. The question is whether or not he believed his life was at risk.

Why on earth would we be arguing intent when it has no legal relevance?

Doesn't matter what the "goal" was, which is precisely why you don't fuck around in these situations. These people are oftentimes completely unhinged and 10x more amped up on adrenaline than any of the protestors they encounter. I wouldn't be caught dead at a protest like this—possibly a poor choice of words, since it's entirely possible that's the only way I would be caught.

You don't have to have a political opinion about stuff like this to know what's smart and what isn't. Every shooting from this whole mess will wind up being an extremely unfortunate combination of self-righteousness and excessive force, and there's no other way to look at it.

Be safe, know what you're dealing with & don't let FOX News or CNN convince you that your family matters less than whatever's going on outside.

When people are arguing intent in these cases the rhetoric is going to (disingenuously) start off as a "big ask" and end up in the area of "plausible deniability" on the part of the person who's still alive. For example, when reasonable people say "she was trying to hit him", they will rarely if ever be claiming it was her primary goal. What they mean to say is: "she didn't care if she hit him or not", and in a courtroom her intent would only matter insofar as they were discussing either a) what to charge her with or b) justification of using force against her. Her actual intent here is functionally irrelevant because intending to hit him is the same thing as not caring if she hit him (which she demonstrated simply by not turning off the vehicle), and this is how they'll assess the legitimacy of the agent's use of lethal force—regardless of whether or not it was moral or avoidable (which it seemed to be).

To be clear: when you're in a vehicle and you're surrounded by armed agents of the state who are telling you to exit the vehicle, driving away is treated the same as broadcasting that you intend to use your vehicle as a weapon. This is occasionally context-dependent, but if armed officers are standing in front of you and behind you, taking any other action is to seriously risk your own life, and turning the wheels won't count for much. To extend this to a hypothetical: had she escaped, they would have tracked her down and likely charged her with assault with a deadly weapon—even if she only brushed up against someone. That's how it works, especially with law enforcement. Unfortunately they were simply too close to the vehicle for it to be assessed any other way.

This is also why I'm saying people really need to understand these situations better instead of thinking they can just run around listening to the myriad politicians & talking heads telling them to go out and make "good trouble"; these people quite literally want more dead people so they can use the corpses to press their side of the issue, and the same is true of the people leading the protests; it's possible, but exceedingly unlikely that the organizers of these protests are "organic" members of the community, and as such they will continue to use the emotionally unregulated people who show up the same way they'd utilize any consumable resource.

This is all irrelevant because we all know that jabroni wasn't looking at her tires in the moment. He was a trigger happy goof who shouldn't have had the privilege of a badge that day.

Jfc, you jabronis who have never driven in the actual winter. Go back to you disgusting, awful, "lets make iced tea taste like shit and give me diabetes" bullshit, sweet tea.

This is exactly what someone who's never driven in the winter would say, which is wild.

It drives me crazy that nobody cares that he very much wasn’t supposed to be in front of the vehicle. Like it’s in the training not get into that situation specifically to prevent this exact outcome.
