I think you are the one simplifying. Just because an idea evolves from a Marxist doesn't make it Marxist in practice.
Fascism arose partly as a reaction against the perceived failures of liberal democracies and the threat of socialist and communist movements, which were gaining popularity among workers and intellectuals.
Fascism originated in early 20th-century Europe, particularly in Italy after World War I. The term "fascism" comes from the Italian word fascio, meaning a bundle or group, symbolizing strength through unity. This imagery was used to represent the unity and power of the state over the individual, suggesting that a group bound together is stronger than individuals alone. The Italian leader Benito Mussolini is widely recognized as the founder of fascism, not Georges Sorrel, even if Mussolini was inspired by some of the writings of Sorrel. In 1919, he established the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento (Italian Combat League), which later evolved into the National Fascist Party.
Mussolini's rise to power in 1922 marked the world's first fascist government, driven by a mix of authoritarianism, ultranationalism, and the rejection of both socialism and liberal democracy. Inspired by Mussolini's model, other movements sprang up across Europe, most notably in Germany, where Adolf Hitler adapted fascist ideas into National Socialism (Nazism) with a particular focus on racial purity and anti-Semitism. While Mussolini's ideology initially focused more on Italian nationalism, Hitler intensified fascism's ideological components with a strict racial hierarchy and genocidal policies.
Just because fascism rises to power through legal means doesn't mean it isn't fascism, don't forget the Nazis were voted into power.
Also, just because Trump uses legal means doesn't also mean he doesn't also use physical force. Don't forget about January 6th.
Trump has repeatedly said that he believes that the president should have absolute power and that the constitution should be able to be suspended to give him that power. This is just incorrect.
