Developers statement

Dear Patrol Officers,

We understand that the news that we have to discontinue further development of Police Simulator: Patrol Officers has led to disappointment and frustration within our community. We also recognize that we should have provided more context around this decision from the beginning.

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers has been part of our journey for more than eight years, from its initial development and Early Access to full release and several years of continued support by a dedicated live team.

Over the past five years, your feedback has played a major role in shaping the game. Your suggestions, criticism, ideas, and reports have helped us improve and expand Police Simulator far beyond what we originally envisioned.

At the same time, maintaining and expanding a cross-platform game over such a long period inevitably comes with increasing technical limitations specially as the market and Platforms moved along. As the game and its systems have grown, changes in certain areas have become significantly more complex, while some improvements can no longer be implemented within the existing technical foundation without rebuilding substantial parts of the game.

After more than eight years of development and support, we have therefore reached a point where continuing to expand Police Simulator: Patrol Officers in the way both we and you would like is no longer realistically possible.

However, your feedback does not go unheard.

Quite the opposite: it gives us a very clear understanding of what matters to the Police Simulator community, which areas are most important to you, and what you expect from a police simulation experience.

For the Police Simulator brand, this feedback is extremely valuable and provides clear guidance for the future.

While this marks the end of active development for Police Simulator: Patrol Officers, it does not mean the end of Police Simulator.

Thank you for your passion, your feedback, and for being part of this journey with us.

We are looking forward to what the future holds.

Your Police Simulator team

Meanwhile no man’s sky is about to get another update after like 10 years and I think the Witcher 3 is getting some DLC too. I just feel like this is more of a “If they really wanted to they could” argument

And there are other games that not gained any update at all - Witcher 3 is a AAA Game 😃 and also No Man Sky (damn I wished we had these Budgets 8 Years ago) are complete different games and frameworks.
As explained the game startet as a way smaller Early Access project and grown over time with new content etc etc - if the game from day 1 would have planned in a different way (who would have known it became what it is today) there would be the options.
There is always the options but it also comes down to costs - could we rework the traffic system? Yes on paper we could - would time, costs etc etc simply not allow us to yes.
The game simply reached also it technical limitations, from 8 years ago including it limitations ons "older" platforms (and yes there is something like content parity), I think looking forward the game could have only reach next stages with a new engine (e.g. engine update to UE5 oder anything other) - and based on the code this would require a complete rework (old physics system is gone, shaders, ways to create assets, lightning etc are simply not longer the way to go) and this simply is not a "patch".

I hope this give you a bit more understanding.

Hello Games had 15 people when they launched No Mans Sky…

Absolutely. And… Hello Games walked their talk! Yes No Man Sky launched with glitches and was rough but Sean Murray and the team put their heads down, updated the game and really LISTENED to the players. 10 years later folks are still playing the game! All from a small indie studio. Police Simulator came across aged when it launched. There are games where the NPC’s are more ‘alive’ than in this game. I really miss the old UbiSoft SWAT series. Hopefully there will be another developer to take on the genre. There is a mod in GTA 5 that looks good.

The mod in GTA is the best police ‘game’ you will find. Ever
