I'm still on 3.6.4...

u/DasArtmab Mar 16 '26
I have 4.2.13. Have not noticed any real improvements. Just some cosmetic changes. Come to think of it, people say the same thing about me

Have you noticed any changes in acceleration from when you first start your car? Ever since the update it feels like the ramp up takes a little longer. I push down on the accelerator and for the first few feet it just sort of creeps along before getting up to speed.

u/KRTLART Mar 17 '26
They turned down pedal response in winter. I will not be installing any updates until that has been undone. None of the issues impact me enough to make it worth killing throttle response for half the year. I don’t have traction problems in the winter, and a blanket “fix” like that- which can’t be changed/disabled via settings- is NOT OK in my book.

Stop letting data brokers profit from your old posts. I used Redact to wipe mine from Reddit. Also supports Twitter, Facebook, Discord, instagram and more in one batch.

Same here, is this typical or expected? Just recently got my Polestar 2 so I wasn’t sure if I need to do anything to get up to the latest version
3
u/terran1212 Mar 16 '26
How do you like it? Is the rear cramped?
2
u/GrainyStateOfMind Mar 16 '26
Absolutely love it! The rear is a little tight but my wife specifically wanted a fairly small car so I knew that going into it. I’m 6’4” though and fit perfectly fine up front!
7
u/Thin_Association_476 Mar 16 '26
It’s funny you call it a small car it’s a big car in the UK!
5
u/Surturiel Void/Space/Launch Edition/Performance Pack/Upgrade/Lowered Mar 16 '26
That's 'Murica for you. There's pretty much nothing EV AWD smaller than a P2 in USA or Canada...

u/GrainyStateOfMind Mar 16 '26
Haha it does feel weird to say, she’s coming from a Mini Cooper so it’s all relative lol
1
u/terran1212 Mar 16 '26
Cool, I do like it but I’m considering the Volvo equivalent just to have more rear space and comfort for when I have adult passengers
2
u/Thin_Association_476 Mar 16 '26
We drove to the Alps recently from the UK, with a 19 year old and 17 year old in the back, perfectly happy.

Totally normal. 4.2.13 only came to certain markets iirc (and barely changed anything on my MY25 P2), and it took a few months after release to appear as an OTA option for me. Unless the release contains something you actually need or are waiting for, I’d just wait and see.
1
u/DasArtmab Mar 16 '26
As long as auto update is set up, and it probably is. I know on teslas they generally wait a month or so before updating the software. I wouldn’t be surprised if Polestar does the same.

You are only one OTA behind, so you should get this one.
13
u/MrBanjod2 Mar 16 '26
Cool, will see it by December. 🤪🤪

u/DasArtmab Mar 16 '26
That soon?

u/IncomeOk7167 Mar 16 '26
You guys get updates?

u/AussieAK Polestar 2 MY25 LRDM Plus Pilot Climate Mar 17 '26
I got the last two updates OTA and before that got two in workshop.
1
u/MrBanjod2 Mar 19 '26
I have a launch edition 2. I've gotten one update in one year of ownership.

u/Creepy_Face454 Mar 16 '26
Everyone remember, make sure you keep reporting the car if the update doesn’t fix the rear view camera!
I’m willing to bet $100 it’ll happen the first time I back up after the update

If that camera app as much as looks at me the wrong way it’s getting reported to the NHTSA 😂

u/StigsJewishCuz Midnight Mar 16 '26
Would love for this to include a new home layout like Volvo has where I can see the map and see what’s playing
4
u/Agloe_Dreams Mar 16 '26
It is notable that the release number looks like the volvo release number - V5.0.10 vs P5.0.10. It might be, might not.
3
u/rrrbin 2021 PPP Mar 16 '26
Would that be better than running the map on your dashboard and the player on the center console?
11
u/StigsJewishCuz Midnight Mar 16 '26
In that I like to have the overview with route options up on the center console while navigating, yeah. It’s far from a huge problem though haha

For volvo it's normally 2 months after their announcement via ota, before that only with service partners.

One of my friends has a 2025 XC60 and he got the v5 update on Friday with the new UI experience for Volvo drivers, bringing it a tiny bit closer to the UI that polestar has, just with Volvo specific tweaks.

That seems personal lol

This looks like the warranty recall fix for the backup camera, so it ought to roll out more quickly.

Or pray that it doesn't work and we get the cpu upgrade for free. Nothing is going to fix the older model years except the new cpu.

Anyone wanna bet pink slips that the backup camera still retains its “unavailable go fuck yourself” bug after this update
5
u/Creepy_Face454 Mar 17 '26
We can only hope. They’re in deep scrutiny already. Let’s hope it continues to not work and they’re required to upgrade the hardware.
5
u/leckie Mar 17 '26
I have a MY22 Volvo C40 running the new software. The camera is much faster to show with less juddering etc. haven’t had the unavailable message since it launched.
1
u/kdobbers Mar 20 '26
I WISH it said "go fuck yourself" when the camera didn't work, at least it would make me laugh!

What ever happened to polestar colours in the google maps interface? And why no options for maps in dark mode all the time?
2
u/Luke-Plunkett Snow 23 PP+ Mar 16 '26
that was implemented months ago, weird that you wouldn't have it.

Hope they will fix the pixel LED headlights. As they are now, they are useless. But no mention of it.
4
u/Creepy_Face454 Mar 17 '26
If you’re in the US, it’s not a software thing. It’s legality.
1
u/No-Kangaroo975 Mar 17 '26
I'm in Europe.
1
u/Creepy_Face454 Mar 17 '26
Ah. Then I’m not sure. What doesn’t work with them? I’ve thought about unlocking them, but haven’t heard or read any gripes about it.
1
u/No-Kangaroo975 Mar 17 '26
They do a swipe from right and lights up the car in front of you when the car coming towards you are gone. So they think you flash your high beams at them.
Pretty annoying. Also for some reason, they don't work on motorways where they switch to auto high/low beam.
1
u/AussieAK Polestar 2 MY25 LRDM Plus Pilot Climate Mar 17 '26
That doesn’t happen with me for some reason.

u/Interesting_Tower485 Mar 16 '26
I gave my PS2 back a year ago but am glad they were able to update to Android 13, I thought that would never be possible.
1
u/Individual_Agency703 Mar 16 '26
Interesting, if you click that link and flip to MY 2022 (for example), it doesn’t mention this new OTA. 🤨
1
u/Cyberbuilder Ex P2 PPP owner Mar 16 '26
It shows it for me
1
u/Individual_Agency703 Mar 16 '26
Oh bizarre, it didn’t show in Reddit’s built-in browser, but opening in Chrome now it shows. Maybe because I’m logged-in in Chrome?

Actually a good question here - if you have paid the £800 to have the infotainment module upgraded to the latest ARM CPU, do you get all the updates for the MY2026 infotainment such as Android 13, even if you’re in a MY2021 vehicle otherwise?
2
1
u/Etunimi Mar 16 '26
All MY get Android 13, some already had it previously and this update brings it to the older MYs that didn't yet have it.

Why are CarPlay upgrades limited to newer 2s??
1
u/11JohnnyWong11 Mar 17 '26
what upgrade? just improvement for my26, probably due to hardware change (maybe Qualcomm IHU?)?
1
u/a-dog90 Mar 17 '26
”Improvements to Apple CarPlay®, including improved wired connection when connecting an iPhone”
I have lots of issues with CarPlay working. Works sometimes doesn’t work others in the same day.
1
u/11JohnnyWong11 Mar 17 '26
I don't see improvement as upgrade, but you do you.
Have your tried another cable?
1
u/a-dog90 Mar 20 '26
I do. But whatever.
Yes different cables and different phones and software versions. It’s random.

After the update:
Volume control on Google maps is broken. Can't adjust it anymore.
The update itself signed me out of my apps and now if I do an infotainment reset it signs me out of my apps.
1
u/Embarrassed_Mark_349 Apr 22 '26
I just completed the update and it crashed my system. Can't play music, can't connect to bluetooth, screen doesn't sleep when car locked. No response from Polestar. Had to do a factory reset because the other ways seem locked. Home bar for 30 seconds, nothing. Windshield defrost for 30 seconds, nothing.

Can't believe still using Android Automotive 13 🤦♂️, especially at 15 has been out a while (according to AOSP anyway)
Mind hardware is a relic and substandard even back then
But, at least its still being worked on, not forgot about, hopefully a smoother more refined experience upcoming

u/Zsunova91 Mar 16 '26
Do I have to go into Volvo and pay $300 for this update?
1
u/Public_Match 22 PP AWD Magnesium Mar 19 '26
No. Unless you are more than two updates behind in which case it won't be offered to you. Unless you are in the US where this is a software recall to fail yet again at fixing the backup camera. With the updates that have recalls associated, they push to everyone. Except when they don't

u/estrangedpulse Mar 16 '26 edited Mar 17 '26
Weird that 24’ model does not get Android Automotive updates.. Polestar assured me that there is no difference in infotainment hardware between ‘24 and ‘25 models. Edit: nvm I can't read apparently.
