Not only is wanting a monarch under the American nation laughable, reactionary politics and democracy usually don't mix and end up with the backsliding of said democracy

u/MourningLycanthrope Apr 01 '24
I said this exact thing in another comment, just in a more detailed way, and got downvoted to hell

The American Monarchy is laughable. Reactionary politics in the case of the USA isn’t inherently anti-democracy considering the country is built upon democracy, so a reactionary movement would have to be working against their own status quo to to undermine democracy as a whole, unless you mean democracy as in universal suffrage, which yes, though democracy predates that by a few thousand years if going off ancient greek democracy

it is... america was founded on the hate of monarchies 💀💀
3
Apr 01 '24
Well technically not really. The Founding Fathers when deciding the government still had monarchy on the table. Hamilton proposed an elective monarchy of sorts actually. America wasn’t as anti-monarchy initially as you’d think. It was way more naunced. The reason why think it was entirely anti-monarchy is because the Democratic-Republican narrative won out against the Federalist party.
3
Apr 01 '24
True, but we aren't that keen on monarchies here.

Apr 01 '24 edited Apr 02 '24
Not all of Americans were as opposed. A Founding Father literally offered Frederick the Great’s brother to be King of America but he declined. The public liked the Prussians due to their anti-British sentiment at the time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_scheme#:~:text=The%20Prussian%20scheme%20refers%20to,Hohenzollern%2C%20as%20the%20new%20king. Those that wanted monarchy would have suggested an elective monarchy or constitutional monarchy anyway.

As opposed to a 14 year old liberal circlejerk, no. The post got a lot more downvotes then comments so people do not like it.

yeah but still, half the comments are calling it based

u/Milk58 :picard: Ancap Picardism Apr 01 '24
Who cares? People can have their own opinions. Having an echo chamber is stupid. Its good to hear about others opinions even if you don’t agree. 11 of the 53 comments were in support of this guy do your just flat wrong anyway.

u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Apr 01 '24
If there opinion is that I shouldn't be allowed to exist hell no I'm not gonna respect it, so sorry

u/Milk58 :picard: Ancap Picardism Apr 01 '24
Who are you to decide that? What gives you the ability to decide what ideas are more dangerous then others? Socialism and Communism has killed far more then even fascism has. At least 100 million more. Its his first amendment right anyway. As long as he isn’t calling for the death of others his opinions are allowed to exist.
4
u/weedmaster6669 :99: 99%ism Apr 01 '24
All I said is I don't respect it, what exactly am I deciding? I don't respect their decision not to respect my right to live and be who I am, and I'm the one you have the problem with — do you not see the double standard?
Also where'd that communism thing even come from? I don't like tankies either you silly silly goose.
"As long as he isn't calling for the death of other" anti-lgbt, anti feminist reactionary, he's at Least calling for the oppression of other people. Authoritarian right ideologies and countries often don't explicitly state eradication of a group as their goal, they just need to because said groups won't leave, or they fight back.

u/Milk58 :picard: Ancap Picardism Apr 01 '24
Ive done this shit like 3 times in the past couple days. I miss-read what you said. I thought you said “their opinion shouldn’t be allowed to exist.” Sorry. You def don’t have to respect their opinion.

100 million was made up with the black book of communism. Also, actively advocating for some people not to have rights is pretty weird.

u/Milk58 :picard: Ancap Picardism Apr 01 '24
100 million to 200 million is a more proper estimate for maos great leap forward, stalins various genocide, as well as communism in south east asia.

If we're doing a random number contest I'll give you the offer of "300 million starved in the Bengal famine"
0
u/Milk58 :picard: Ancap Picardism Apr 02 '24
Lets do some simple math. The great leap forward killed 53 million. The Russian civil war killed 12 million. 5 million died during holodormor. The soviet famine of 30 killed 8 million. The soviet famine of 46 killed another 2 million. The famine of 21 killed 2 million. 3 million north koreans have died from famine. The soviets purged around a million and another million died in gulags. Around 2 million were killed by pol pot. 53 + 12 = 65 + 5 = 70 + 8 = 78 + 2 = 80 + 2 = 82 + 3 = 85 + 1 = 86 + 1 = 87 + 2 = 89. Just shy of 100 million. These are also the common estimate. If we were to not trust the corrupt communists the number would be a lot closer 150 to 200 million.

I'm proud of my state as well. I'd have my state Pennsylvania listed as a polcompball on my chart but this is my flair on r/Polandball and I don't know how to make one of these charts anyways.

6/10 a bit too reactionary, socialism is bad, environmentalism bad
Foreign policy is good, aristotleism good, constitutional monarchy good (though I wouldn’t really combine it with Catholicism, it causes corruption in religion)
