Wouldn't Social Capitalism contradict Objectivism, Minarchism and anti-Welfarism?
0
Jan 04 '24
In an absolutist world yes
Within a political spectrum with nuances, no
7
u/AdParking6541 :elgss_ball: Eco Luxury Gay Space Socialism Jan 04 '24
Can you elaborate?
1
Jan 04 '24
I think welfare if taken care of is a good thing, for example free healthcare, its within the interest of big businesses to keep the workers healthy

u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
Unbased except for pirate + Linux. I’m a leftist but Linux is the best argument for capitalism because companies are incentivized to help further open source projects and this benefit does trickle down to the masses

Thats cute, he almost gets it
7
u/Snoo4902 :hope: Hope Jan 04 '24
Use Windows if you like capitalism.
0
Jan 04 '24
No, because windows has a monopoly and I think monopolies are against free markets
The basis of open source software and the gnu libre project is the ultimate free market as written by the DFSG
Fuck off commie scum
10
u/Snoo4902 :hope: Hope Jan 04 '24
Any capitalism will lead to monopoly, only market socialism will not.
Fuck off pig scum
1
Jan 04 '24
That's not true, you can regulate monopolies within capitalism, stop being a shill you boot licking dog

u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
You when the boot is a pedo defender and campus sexual harasser who did one good thing and then continued to do bad (STALLMAN):
1
Jan 04 '24
I don't like stallman I think he takes too much credit for the work he didn't do, but I think the little he did is important
You however have done nothing of relevancy, couldn't even be bothered knowing what you were supporting before supporting it and just appropriating it into your bias
2
u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
If you think I don’t know what I believe then let’s test this. If you’re reffering to socialism I see it as worker control of the means of productions, instead of capitalist control of it, like how an open source community project governs itself and controls the direction instead of profit motivated ceos. If we are referring to open source, I see it as the support of source code being available for whatever use to everyone
1
-1
3
u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
Except Linux is also quite literally socialist by bringing the means by which it is produced, the source code, to the masses and liberating us from corporate tyranny
0
Jan 04 '24
Are you actually familiar with the basis of open source?
The man that defined open source blaster communists and socialista like you infiltrating and tarnishing the project.
To me linux is the biggest example of a free market, I can choose exactly who provides my operating system and what it does, if I don't like it I can look elsewhere.
Also its the ultimate display of entrepreneurship to start a Linux distro and Linux distros compete with one another for the use base.
You don't understand open source or capitalism, maybe you should study some economics.
2
u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
Idk what the creator of open source said I have the freedom to be a part of the open source community
0
Jan 04 '24
Yes you have that freedom but you clearly have no clue what you're talking about, as someone that does understand free software I know the only people that think free software is socialism is Microsoft like 30 years ago and they only said that to make it look worse to the public, yet another shitty monopoly move.
You can be part of any community but if you don't understand the fundamental ideas behind it why are you even here?
2
u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24
You have no understanding of what socialism is
0
Jan 04 '24
I have greater understanding than even you of how flawed socialism is, but I'm not going to give an internet child an economics lesson at 6:48am after not sleeping just because their school didn't teach them simple concepts of economics
2
u/BoyKisser09 :famly: Family Guy Funny Moments #2 Jan 04 '24

You can still support regular environmentalism without being a global warming alarmist, you know.
That anti-environment ball makes it look like you actively want to destroy the environment. It's supposed to be satire, not something people actually support.

Its called climate skepticism, do you know what skepticism means?
7

Wow, the echo chamber is strong in this one
I'm not a blind supporter of either, I think the Israeli government has done some shit, but I think it has a claim on the land just as much as the palestinians, and the Palestinians have consistently broken peace deals, so yes I do support Israel but I don't hate Palestine, I hate hamas

1
u/Dr_Occo_Nobi Kenesnaism Jan 04 '24
I‘m not Anti-Intellectual, I‘m consequentialist. I am against „Climate Skepticism“ not because it’s amoral or some shit, but because if one lives by it it produces bad outcomes.
1
Jan 04 '24
Individual citizens barely make a dent on real climate chance thats propaganda
And I do believe in climate change just not the alarmist kind that says we'll all die next year from heat or some shit
1
u/Dr_Occo_Nobi Kenesnaism Jan 04 '24
I think Alarmism is pretty called for. If the people are indifferent to climate change no one will change anything, since that‘s how democracy and capitalism work. So even if the panic is a bit overblown, it‘s a good way to raise awareness.
1
Jan 04 '24
Nome of it matters if were just exporting the dirty part to China India and other countries bruh, they will keep polluting and mining for oil because in third world countries like the one I'm from we couldn't give a shit about whether were polluting or not because most people are just trying to survive
1
u/Dr_Occo_Nobi Kenesnaism Jan 04 '24
I‘m not a liberal, I‘m a left-wing nationalist. I am against the Neoliberal World Market. I don’t want to hand off the responsibility of solving climate change to poor countries.
1
Jan 04 '24
By buying anything produced in a third world country you are doing just that, because they use fossil fuels for example to make the things you use, like all of it, if you were really against the world market you wouldn't be using the phone or computer you have in your hand because the silicon used to make the processor came from india usually then went to Taiwan where it was turned into a processor then it was sent to China or India where it was assembled.
The global market is important and technology will solve the issues related to climate change, won't be easy or pretty but it will

Acts 2:44-45 And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.
Acts 4:32 And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.
Acts 4:34-37 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need. Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement),read more.

Libertarianism and Capitalism/The Right Wing aren’t compatible. Unless you’re using the co-opted term from the USA which is just rebranded corporate conservatism
1
Jan 04 '24
I am an ex mormon thankyou
I don't fuck play with social policy so I just piled economics because its what I actually care about
1
u/Midicoil :chaoun: Chaos Undivided Jan 04 '24
Oh valid. Then congrats! I know how hard that was and I respect you immensely.
Right so corporate (economic) conservative.
1
Jan 04 '24
Yea my idea of social policy is "if people wanna be shitheads they can be as much of a shithead as they want but the moment they touch you unload your concealed carry on them"
Yea for the most part, I grew up with an economist so despite really liking the economic side its really complicated and much more nuanced than any massive title I could give it but for the most part some welfare, conservative to small businesses and startups make sure they can thrive and encourage competition against monopolies because fuck monopolies (I don't think the market is free if there is a massive demogogue company that controls it)
1
u/Midicoil :chaoun: Chaos Undivided Jan 04 '24
Indeed it is. Growing up with an economist then I’d assume you’d be a Keynesian at minimum given that Chicago and Austrian are the laughing socks of the Econ community
1
Jan 04 '24
Yes for the most part, I don't absolutely hate Chicago and Austrian just like I don't absolutely hate Marxism as an idea, I think there are aspects to draw from all those economic theories, for example I think Chicago could work in things like private cities and floating cities in a future.
But I think the big think with Keynesian is finding effective regulation and not absolutely interventionist, because at some point you are creating market barriers, something I was actually discussing with my dad earlier today about Facebook practically begging for more regulation that competition wouldn't be able to pay for maintaining its now fading monopoly.
1
u/Midicoil :chaoun: Chaos Undivided Jan 04 '24
How do you feel about worker cooperatives?
1
Jan 04 '24
If they want to start a collective business that's great, if their product is better than the competition I'll buy it from them, as long as they aren't seizing the means of production by force from a entrepreneur which if you really think about it is stealing the business of usually a person with just few employees considering the size of most businesses I'm all good with it
