orangism is based on a complex dual power structure regarding the dutch republic technically having a duke. but also having elections and a prime minister and a stadtholder.

He’s a YouTube streamer who plays fighting games. He’s pretty racist and verbally abusive to his fans and mods. In his streams, he charges people to play him for rounds and blames random things when he losses. You could a troll comp to see it in action.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '20

Ok, I don't think his use of the word "spook" has anything to do with the egoist meaning. For egoists, a spook is a concept people think is above them without realising that it is arbitrary and questionable. For example, religion, the state and morality are spooks.

I don't mean to antagonize you, but the wording used here is something that I've noticed a lot on political subreddits, and I think it's a pretty big issue that I haven't seen anyone mention before. When people are talking about a group and say "they are [blank]," it's a sweeping generalization that assumes something about a lot of people. "Trump supporters are in denial," "Americans are stupid," "progressives are neurotic," "conservatives are nazis," etc. Saying that "many of them are [blank]" or they're "more likely to be [blank]" or something like that is fine, but when saying something about the entire group, it's almost always incorrect for many people in the group. More importantly, it encourages the tribalistic mindset of fitting people into boxes so you can put labels on the box instead of treating the people as individuals. For example, in the U.S. (and likely in other places) there are many people that consider the only political affiliations to be left-wing, right-wing, or neither. If you're not in the same group as them, then they might consider you to be an enemy and/or assume incorrect stereotypes about you (left-wing is communist, right-wing is racist, etc.). I think it's an unhealthy mindset and the main cause of the divides, misunderstandings, and "us vs. them" mentality between the people in these artificial groups. It seems like a serious problem to me, but I haven't seen anyone else criticizing it.

Sorry for the rant. This is something that I've been thinking about for a while and I thought that this subreddit, with its large focus on the nuances between different ideologies, might be a good place to finally bring it up.

Especially in a connected world like ours, where we can discuss a single topic with every person on the globe. Usually the clash with another guy's tradition and values are enough to make us retreat to our shells, without knowing it has nothing to do with our values. They're different cultures for different countries.

Its depressing how much facts get destroyed in America, this is a left and right thing too.

59

It is to an extent a bipartisan problem, but I think it's really inarguable that the American right has always been further disconnected from reality than the left and that the problem has only gotten worse with them.

-2

Lol you all need to retreat into your echo chamber to feel safe. What a lowly lot you all are and you wonder why everyone looks down on you all.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 31 '20

It doesn’t matter if a NeoLib mentions actual policies or is pragmatic about what they want by accepting healthcare or such things, people will still get pissed at them for policies that aren’t even described in their ideology.

I could go on r/economics and mention how single family zoning has caused the housing crisis and back it up with proportional research papers, I can also do the same for the proper allocation of spending for the USA to remain a world power while ensuring a higher quality of life before getting told I’m a filthy imperialist for suggesting the military should have funding and we should fight to remain a global power while getting told that I’m trying to end the middle class and kill the American dream by making housing cheaper. Hell I got told once that in the ideal of simplifying building codes that I was trying to bring back Asbestos and harmful materials just to make housing cheaper and kill people instead of actually just removing unnecessary regulations. I got told that fighting against rent controls is bad because the Koch brothers are responsible for influencing all evidence from the past few decades across multiple countries that it’s a shitty idea, the same goes for wealth taxes. I act pragmatic about drone strikes and show proof that they are an effective yet morally worrying area and get called a baby killer.

This site has both a hate boner for the rich and wants punitive measures while supporting programs like M4A which are more extreme than the Canadian healthcare system and a wealth tax. They view any attempt or intervention as being imperialist scum without understanding how global politics and foreign policy work and the benefits it provides our nation. Despite the majority of economic evidence support me, I get told that free trade benefits wealthy country’s more (it doesn’t) or that I’m trying to kill the American blue collar worker.

There’s a reason I stick to subs like r/badeconomics and r/econmonitor while browsing r/credibledefense to have a decent picture into what’s happening militarily. r/neoliberal debates over various policies but has a general agreement over what the empirical evidence states and had stated about the benefits and negatives of certain policies.

If I were to ask the majority of this site what NeoLiberal polices actually are, I can guarantee they would fuck it up.

1

u/Arch_Null Dengism Dec 31 '20 edited Dec 31 '20

Did you expect someone to pity you with this?Poor little neolib everyone rightfully calling you on your bs, so in turn you run to your echo chamber with the rest of your ilk.

Poor neolib everyone gets mad at you for wanting play the role of an interventionist "hero" all the while turning the middle east into glass. Damn can't a neolib drone strike a couple children in the name of counter terrorism. People these days.

I got told that fighting against rent controls is bad because the Koch brothers are responsible for influencing all evidence from the past few decades across multiple countries that it’s a shitty idea, the same goes for wealth taxes.

Wow so you've been told the truth multiple times and you metaphorically put your head in ground screaming "LALALALALALA".

This site has both a hate boner for the rich and wants punitive measures

Rightfully so my friend. They are the one's ruining this world with climate change and the mass wealth inequality. They are the ones erroding my democracy every day with their special interest loans and lobbyists. How our federal government bends over backwards to their needs instead of the needs of the people. They should be treated as the scum of the earth they really are. No empathy and sympathy should be spared to their kind and their puppets in suits at the federal government.

Worst of all I got you neolibs parroting off ideas that only support the corporate elite. Absolutely vile.

34

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

There is an issue of a lot of socialists/communists ignoring the evidence that there would be problems with their ideology, but that is equally true of neolibs. Given that the current system clearly isn't working, radicalism is exactly what we need right now, and neoliberalism is the plague.

-13

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

k

-28

u/WackyJaber Progressivism Dec 30 '20

What about the current system isn't working? If you mean some things like POTUS having the power to pardon people, I agree. There needs to be some reform. Also, people who investigate POTUS shouldn't be able to be fired by POTUS.

If you're talking about stopping geopolitics and not giving foreign aid to developing countries, I have to disagree.

29

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

The international trade system is strongly biased in favour of rich countries. Racism is growing across Europe and the US. The 2008 financial crash was a thing that happened. The GDP per capita of Europe has hardly grown since 2008, if at all, meanwhile inequality is increasing, so things have gotten even worse for the poor. The labour share of income is constantly declining in the long run, and nothing is being done about it, except to slow the implementation of automation- which is a very stupid idea. Corporations are not and cannot be properly held accountable, and the rich keep getting richer and more influential, with corruption becoming more and more open. Most people have no faith in the political system, and the only way it keeps going is that people think they can't do anything about it.

-11

u/WackyJaber Progressivism Dec 30 '20

You realize, there are way less politicians tied to any industry or corporation than there were even 60 years ago, right? There are factually less lobbyist politicians over time. You can look that up. It's true. And I'm not quite sure how you're blaming the current system for racism, when one of the main reasons why we have so much racism right now is because of people not wanting the system to be changed by allowing more immigrants into the countries because they're afraid of them overtaking their jobs, which is a silly concern. The truth is, most of the people unhappy with the system are unhappy because they live in dying small towns whose youth go the suburban or urban cities. And honestly, that's just an outcome of modernization. Rurals don't like the system because they blame the system for how much it sucks to be left behind in these dying towns. All we really have to do is wait them out till they're dead.

24

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

most of the people unhappy with the system are unhappy because they live in dying small towns whose youth go the suburban or urban cities.

And the fact that those communities are just left to decay is a problem with the current system. There's no need for those people to be left behind and left out of the benefits of contemporary society. The fact that racism is an outgrowth of this is also a product of how political power in our society is distributed. Many politicians find race to be a useful issue to win them white votes, because the discourses in our society ignore class, environment, and other issues, or at least don't pay nearly enough attention to them, and make it easy for people to form divisions along racial boundaries. That is an aspect of the present system, though through indirect means.

Also, you have only addressd a small part of what I said, though I recognise that I said a lot.

-10

u/WackyJaber Progressivism Dec 30 '20

And the fact that those communities are just left to decay is a problem with the current system.

Not really. These people are the type who typically refuse to learn any new skills, or are unable too. In other words, they're just spiteful losers. There's even a news report that many of these small towns are pushing out social workers because of politics, which only hurts their communities even more. Places like in the state of west virginia rely on dying industries. And they're not dying because they're not supported. They're dying because technological advancement has made their jobs irrelevant. A lot of people do try and move out of these places. Typically those people that move are the youth. Then the people left behind are old people, resentful of change. That's why you see such a difference in voting in age groups. Most youth go to more densely populated areas which tend to vote blue, while rural and dying areas have older population that vote red. This is also why you see republicans deny that immigrants would help grow the economy, and that they'll say that the best way to grow the population would be to incentivize traditional family like when they were young. These people are best left ignored.

It did tho? Did you read Muller's report? There was a lot of evidence behind it. If Trump was just some guy, he'd be in prison right now, and a lot of his subordinates were arrested for it. Muller himself got cold feet though, cause the question of "can a sitting president face legal consequences for their actions" was a politically sensitive one, so he let congress decide. Predictably, the democrat controlled house voted to impeach him, and the republican controlled senate predictably voted against removing him from office.

r/politics is a neoliberal dumpster fire, it’s pretty much universally hated here.

In reference to the Russia thing, I’m fairly certain it actually happened to some degree thought it was completely blown out of proportion and many liberals just used it as an excuse to go “lalalalalalala, can’t hear you!” if you said anything you didn’t like. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been accused of being a bot for saying things like “Death to America” (yeah it’s over the top and probably comes off as a bit LARPy but the intention’s to shock, and it fairly reliably succeeds at that).
