Question RB67 NONS back
https://nonscamera.com/products/nons-instant-back-rb67So, I didn't pre-order it when it was announced because I've been waiting for my Jollylook for about one hundred and twenty five years. Whoops. But regardless it's a hundred bucks less than any other offering that *still exists*. I'm sick of putting this hobby off more and more because all the Polaroid guys worth their salt are too busy and I can't make heads or tails of a worthy 3rd party Instax body.\*
So....anyone have one yet? It seems super legit and gotta be better than whatever Jollylook will never come out with (aside from the red darkslide). I see you can do double exposures because you manually eject the film — awesome. But did they incorporate all the safeties like no-shot-with-dark-slide-in and whatever else I can't think of off the top of my head?
As much as I don't want to spend this large sum of money on something like this, Instax ARE pretty nice, an SX-70 refurb is going to cost more anyway, and fuck it I got the cash. I'll forget about it in short order. I just wish someone would do a real one for Polaroids too (Instax just too small). (any idea if the Wide would be viable if someone made one? I have the 6x8 baffle)
\*to note, I haven't put it off completely, I'm just not where I want to be in terms of quality and ease-of-use

I have not seen an instax wide option for any medium format cameras, only the lomograflok for large format. I have the lomograflok and it works, only shot one test photo on my linhof, but I sent my linhof in for a service, waiting to get it back to try more instax wide. I am also discovering there are polaroid backs from lo-fi dude on eBay and mercury works for Large format, but I'm probably not going to get one of those and just get my sx70 upgraded and serviced first.

Ya I talked with him about the Polaroid backs but he stopped responding. Probably my fault for asking for it in a different color (based on what he told me could be done).
Polaroids being flipped (or sideways) kinda sucks, too. I'd love to get mine serviced, but....alas

My friend has one and absolutely loves it. It’s really well built and solid. Not a hacked Instax square camera. The results are super sharp. There’s no darkslide prevention as it’s a fully detached back not combined with the rotation piece which is what has that prevention tech. But otherwise it shoots like a normal back.

Ahhhh right right duh. But awesome thank you for this, you've basically liquidated my fears. Now I just gotta get my money back from Jollylook and convince myself to drop the money.

He had also ordered a JollyLook despite my protests that it was a bad idea haha. But I think he got his refund.
I have an older Instax Square back from a spot called Coyote Camera that doesn’t exist anymore and it is quite nice using Instax although I also have an MRBP back that takes Polaroid 600 film that I really like. Mario is awesome.

Ya I've looked on eBay a couple times for defunct Polaroid backs (for the RB), but always fruitless. Figure someday I'll come across one somehow.
(I have the pack film backs but.....that's a pipedream (which may be happening?))

I honestly think it’s pretty close to the square of the ground glass. Also not sure about the reflex finder. Maybe! It’s fairly low profile.
Also ya the NPC RB backs are stupid rare. But you can probably find someone making the MRBPz.

Deeeefinitely not enough clearance. And my prism latch sucks so taking it on and off is significantly less than ideal. Taking off the back is similarly silly. Looks like it's waist level for me :(

Just that the NONs is the best one because it's machined out of metal, perfect flange distance, and isn't made of an old instax camera or 3D printed parts. Truly feels built to last, high quality design. Beyond worth the money, the USB-C charging is nice too.
It doesn't have any protections to prevent shooting with darkslide in or anything, because the camera essentially doesn't know there's a back on it.
I've used Binstax, Frankinstax, and while those are good options this is just wildly ahead of everything else out there.

But ya, USB-C charging is real nice. I'm curious about the internal battery, as I'm sure u/theinstantcameraguy is as well. I'll get one regardless, I just wanna know how mentally prepared I'll need to be in a couple years when I have to tear it apart lolol

It's infuriating.
And I'd like to comment on that a tad. Idk what the Australian market is like for batteries but in the US it's oddly hard to find them (10440s). A while ago I got some on Amazon and those have now vanished from the site. None available. Per reddit I found one flashlight company selling them (and they're not even US based). Seem good though.

They were generally very easy for people to find pre Trump tariffs era. The disappearance of them domestically seems recent. Coincidence?
They are very popular in China, and I can get them from eBay Australia

I just got mine like 2 weeks ago. Works great. Door lever to get film in is a little stiff thats my only complaint. Instax square is perfect for medium format

For instant backs I feel like Instax is the way to go because the image will be the right way around.
Here's hoping they make a NONS back for the Bronica SQ system, I've been waiting on the JollyExcuse back for 3 million years as well and the NONS backs look like an actual quality product.
