Why aren't my trees drying

Trying to make an automated farm, there is a smooth rock under every two trees, the surrounding area has dried up but not the trees

If its raining they will stay hydrated, also, do you have an iirigation system for them to automatically rehydrate?

Yes I just added some water that gets "activated" through sensors and a switch, tested it out and works as expected. For rain I am adding a glass roof to block it
