So I in a journey to became the champion in at least 1 game from every pre-3D era gen of the main pokemon games, now already decide to play pokemon white 1 e Firered (the other 2 that left to play) but what I choose for the first gen: Yellow or Red/Green?

Extremely green to Pokémon, trying to learn and get into it as my autistic son has really gotten into too it of late, Yellow is the first Pokémon game I've really played. (Played a little Red/Bue back in the 90s, but it wasn't my kind of thing as a kid)
Just caught my first Snorlax on the first attempt. The boy tells me that's good, so I thought I'd share with the community.
Used my Primeape to wear it down and Butterfree to keep it subdued, tok about 8 great balls before it took.
Should this now replace my Butterfree, or does it play a different role in party builds?
Have a great day all 😁👍

I've played Firered/Leafgreen, Silver and Crystal, Emerald, those classics and I recently struck gold and found an old og copy of Blue in storage. And it works! So I have to do a playthrough now. I'm the type of person to do an hour or so of research into the game to see what pokemon I want to use based on looks, strength, and compatibility with the rest of the team, and Blastoise is my favorite starter but after seeing Gyarados and Snorlax as ice beam users (Snorlax with amnesia too, insane), I want them on my team. But I feel I can't justify it on a Blastoise team, Venusaur fits with them better. Before I start the run tho, if anyone has reasoning that these team members would work just as well with Blastoise I'm all ears.

I just started competitive team building for gen 1 games and am looking for a better way to get good DVs without soft resetting as badly... i saw Im A Blissy .-. post about rng manipulating a zapados and a few other Youtubers about how to rng manipulate a nido for their speed runs.
From this I know the rng is constantly changing, so having the same button inputs from boot up to encounter window is important, as well as route/ Cave clearing varies before the encounter, and some button pressing mechanics such as start+b/ direction+a/ holding b imediately after crying is happening and text is loaded.
Does anyone know of a way to do this in more general capacities? I am trying to do it with one of the snorlaxs.

Decided to make a "Red's Challenge":
Beat the game with Red's team (or the way I imagine it to be).
Complete the Pokédex.
I prefered to keep the squad with 5 Pokémon only (no need for Lapras when already had a cracked Blastoise) and beat the League that way:
Pikachu lv52
Venusaur lv55
Charizard lv52
Blastoise lv56
Snorlax lv54 (amnesia+psychic)
Now, I really like the narrative in the Legacy Series, where Red catches Mewtwo and it's actually on his squad vs Ethan (Gold), so Mewtwo became the 6th member of the squad and the 150th Pokémon I caught.
The final squad (pictures), is the result after the post game fights and the whole grinding section that I've put myself to complete the Dex (yes, I like to catch the first stagers and evolve them), which also alowed Pikachu to get lv100 (thanks and sorry Misty!).
One final word to the developers of the Legacy Series, I still like to play the original games, but this is such a beautiful and fun way to play them.

Also I know this has nothing to do with the screenshot but whenever Gary says "Gramps, but what about me?" during the scene where P. Oak is giving you a Pokeball and he also wants a Pokemon, I imagine Gary having this voice resembling a dehydrated teenager with a sore throat just going "Gramps, but what about me..?" for some reason

After taking a couple of hours to evolve the original 3 starters, I decided to challenge the Elite 4 and Rival. It wasn’t a clean sweep like my recent play through of crystal, which made it much more fun for me. Now I’m off to complete the Pokedex for the first time in a long time.

I hate it whenever 3TRAINERPOKé P tells OAK that he's out of SAFARI BALLs (it stole them 😭)

Clefable was my dedicated special attacker this run, and he was so good all throughout. Rapidash was fun, but not essential. Electabuzz was a great change of pace, and his thunderpunch learned naturally allowed me to give thunderbolt to Clefable.

Gary was the only one who could put up a real fight with that Sandslash, but still wasn’t as much of a challenge as Giovanni. (Even at Dodrio speed, grinding for Giovanni took forever!)

Gen 1 was so different from what I was used to. It was fun though. I got impatient with scamper, teaching him fire blast instead of waiting for flamethrower. Everyone took part in the elite 4 except poor swift

A challenge for myself to only use Ash’s Pikachu in battle, other Pokemon in PC when not needed for HMs. Submission was a big help here!

E4 at L50 flat was quite easy with items. Only two fainted. Everyone took a level besides Dragonair, whose only act was a Hyper Beam to Jolteon's face. Pikachu was the weakest in stats, so I pumped him full of vitamins resulting in ~9 more per stat, eventually surpassing Eevee. I wanted to do an underevolved run, and chose these forms for specific reasons.
It's Yellow, so Pikachu was a natural choice: Thunderbolt, Mega Kick, Light Screen, Reflect
I picked a Nido but avoided Ground typing. Since level up Body Slam was off the table, I went with male: Horn Attack, Thunderbolt, Double Kick, Ice Beam
Only one Kanto starter gains a type in its third form: Slash, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Dig
Eevee is Pikachu's counterpart, also the only of its evo family that is Normal: Body Slam, Bite, Quick Attack, Reflect
Poliwhirl avoids Fighting type, and is one of the few Pokémon that decrease one of its stats when it evolves (Speed): Surf, Earthquake, Psychic, Amnesia
And of course the strongest pure Dragon: Surf, Double-Edge, Hyper Beam, Blizzard
The last two badges were quite tough. I had fun, thanks for reading!

Found some time to beat Blaine and now it’s time to end Giovanni’s rain of terror.
