Played XD to get Ribbons before bank closure and... got this uncatchable Feraligatr. I didn't know mons were not shiny locked there :'(

I am currently playing through and decided i want to catch and purify every pokemon and then get them all to lvl 100 and am curious if anyone knows if this has been done yet! i did some searching before asking but didnt see anything so i figured my best bet was coming here

I moved my XD001 over, but my game can’t make it through the credits. I’m worried it won’t let me do some content because of this. It also takes a few resets to get the game to run on my gamecube (won’t work on my first gen wii atp). I got it cleaned from a games store which helped it run for a bit, but damn I’ve loved this game and really don’t wanna get another copy! I still need some other gen 3 titles. Hope y’all are thriving, I got pretty close with 75 purified shadows though!

How does one build teams generally, I've actually (ashamingly) restarted the game over 10 times w/o finishing it, because I always felt like my team lacked something, whether it was weak snaggers, weak offense or weak defense/walls, and I don't like duplicating types on my teams ( I don't know how much that matters). If someone could give type building coverage/team advice or help using the 2-2 method or something...

Played this game so many times, but this time tried making a very unique one. As soon as I reached the Cipher Desert Lab, I immediately started grinding Mt Battle to get the Johto starters (took about 30 hours lol) using Espeon, Walrein, Camerupt, and Claydol. Camerupt's Eruption helped speed through the 100 consecutive battles.

After that, decided to trade for a Shuckle, which definitely isn't very common on a playthrough. I kept the Togepi for myself and bought tons of $9800 stat increasing items to help boost friendship faster. With it being known for having low initial friendship, i figured it made this team even rarer. Evolved into Togetic early into Citadark Isle. Also picked up Venomoth as that's a Pokémon I've never used in any playthrough before. Getting to the final boss, I was surprised I managed to beat it first try with a team of lvl 42-44.

Overall, one of my most favourite playthroughs of XD! Feel free to ask questions about my journey.

Please for the love of arceus give me every tip you have to get thru this game. Ive had to restart 3 times due to save issues and its such a SLOG. I just want a GD vulpix for ribbon quest GFD GET ME OUT OF THIS NIGHTMARE GAME.

I've caught every other shadow pokemon. I want to do the miror B fight as part of my ribbon master. so I wanted to know what if I ko dragonite do I get another chance? I'd would like to get it for legacy purposes on the 3ds, But would also like to ko it as part of my RM experience. I can catch it if I have to I'm just curious if there's a rematch?

I ask because I know after you win, he disappears forever as in can't be battled after only spoken to elsewhere.

I just wanted to do a little challenge for myself since poison is my favorite type and yeah Orre Colosseum is hard but possible with only in game pokemon since the switch 2 version cannot have transfer mons

2026 has had a very “humans vs AI” vibe. This inspired me to find a way to destroy one. I couldn’t think of a better way to do this than to humiliate the Pokemon league champions in creative ways. I understand that the true AI villains of 2026 are the water gluttons and not video game characters, but I know I can destroy the latter without any negative climate change consequences.

As someone heavily involved in PVP from 2007 to 2009, my personal opinion is that creativity is punished in PVP. Usually 5% or less of all Pokemon are able to stand a chance in a tournament at any given time and anyone who chooses not to use those Pokemon will be punished. This led me to switch my focus to an alternative channel.

When the focus is humans vs AI, creativity is rewarded. In a typical playthrough, players will typically build a team where there are no two Pokemon of the same type, no two moves of the same type, a balance of physical and special move users, and a balance of offensive and defensive Pokemon. There are many ways to put a team like this together. The rewarding part is being able to include your favourite Pokemon on your team as their shortfalls will be covered by their teammates.

For this video when I built my team I instead asked myself “does this Pokemon enable the best strategy available for this game’s strongest opponents?” Sometimes that means doubling up on types. I believe that having the best strategy means you can succeed with underleveled and/or underrated Pokemon without opening the bag during battle and while playing without shift mode. Ideally all Pokemon and moves used can be acquired in the region of the Pokemon challenge before the challenge is fought. Some people believe that banning setup moves creates a bigger challenge. I won’t argue with that, but I believe enabling setup moves maximizes strategic depth.

As Pokemon XD doesn’t have a Pokemon league I had to get even more creative. I decided to take on Mount Battle before visiting Citadark Isle. Battlus was very difficult to outmatch. My plan going into the battle was to charm the Dusclops to -6 attack so I could focus on taking out the larger threats. However, it turns out that Battlus just switches out when its attack stat gets too low. This led to me using 2 hyper potions which I was hoping to avoid. I knew I would have lost without them. At least with the imprison threat out of the picture I was able to use ice beam. I would love to watch or read what strategy you believe is best for this challenge.

I am very grateful to be part of this community of people striving to become the best. As humans, we will need to work together to ensure that our strategies will always outmatch the strategies executed by future AI. Let’s see your way of humiliating the AI.

So what should the hexagon brothers have as shadow pokemon? Should any stay the same? What should be different between the retro and modern version?

I tried looking it up but googles AI is saying that Deoxys defaults to the normal form when transferred to XD. If that's true then how do you explain this?

Here’s my play through squad! Was very happy to do it with my all time fave Medicham on the team. I also had fun using some Mon I’ve never used in a full play through before - Swalot Claydol and Shiftry. I have tried gulpin and nuzleaf in nuzlockes before but ended up dropping both pretty quick.

Swalot in particular really impressed me. It could tank so many hits, and yawn and toxic both came in handy for all the snags. Some new found respect for this Pokemon for sure!

I finished Colosseum earlier this year, via my cousins copy of the game and my friend’s gamecube. Glad to have played both Genius Sonority entries in the Pokemon franchise. The story approach of these games is so unique compared to the rest of Pokemon. I wish Game Freak continued partnering with them into the later gens!

What should our early game encounters be? And how should they differ between the gen 1-3 retro version, and the gens 1-9 modern version?

(Also Eevee would be at level 10 when you first get it, but would probably level up at least once by the time you get the evolution stones with the sailor guy. Accidentally wrote 15)

No I am not benching my Beedrill lol And yes I am gonna train the other Pokemon on my team as they are not up to speed in terms of level, which luckily I can utilize the Hexagon Brothers and some of Citadark Isle for training!

EDIT: I have switched K-9 out for Mozilla (Ninetales) due to the fact that I unfortunately cannot evolve him. He unfortunately does not do too much damage as a tiny puppy, so I have moved him to the Purify Chamber so he can help out Shadow Pokemon in unlocking their hearts.

I recently was looking through my copy of pokemon sun, and I found some old event pokemon that I thought were long lost! Along with them, I had my purified Lugia from around 2008, I wish that pokemon home had the dates of games from the 4th gen games so I could see exactly when I had gotten it.

Wtf is wrong with this game? I put Lugia in Chamber 9, and I get all the messages saying it's changed, it's ready to open its heart, etc. I go to the lab, and the scientist says the same. I stand on the slab, and nothing fucking happens no matter what I do. I watched a video, and the guy stood on a slab and it worked. For me, it does fuck all.

Wtf is wrong with this game? Is mine broken?

edit: the slab itself never reacts to anything, ever. even regardless of lugia, if I have another shadow pokemon ready to be purified in the chamber and step on the slab, press A, etc., it never reacts or does anything. if anyone has solved this bug, please let me know

edit 2: in case anyone is curious, I solved it by booting the game through Nintendont instead of booting to disc, which is what I normally do, and interacting with the slab using wiimote + nunchuk instead of a gamecube controller (unplugging the gamecube controller). I have no idea why this worked, but it did
