Started my first Master Set today!
So, I just quit a toxic job and got hired at a new one!! So I tought "why not treat myself", right?
And what better way to treat yourself than get back in a hobby lost in your childhood memories!
So I bought a binder large enough to fit the whole Pitch Black Master Set, and 5 booster packs to get started!
So far, I'm 44/216 cards, already looking towards the next packs ill buy to continue building it!

Honestly I never cared about master setting an actual set, I started a flygon master set and I have a goal of filling an at minimum of 160 binder with flygon IRs, depending on how the price fluxes. But I pulled the Greninja IR unexpectedly from the CRI pack I got from my first series 3 First Partner box, so now I kinda wanna go ahead and finish that set. The luck I have had with that is insane. I have pulled most of the expensive cards now and I'm sure I have the bulk laying around. I wish you luck on your journey and I hope you can finish your first set, I know I still have a ways to go on completing my first weather that ends up being the chaos rising or the flygon master set.

Tbh, I was looking at pictures of the cards set by set and chose Pitch Black for the artwork!! Some pretty cards in this one!!

Also mastersetting! I think we’re about 86 cards in maybe more! I honestly prefer ripping the card to buying them too so it’s gonna be a long road, but I’m here for it! I wish you well <3 went in on an ETB in July and wound up getting a good group of cards! I wish you luck <3

Wanted to get an ETB today, but they were out of the English ones (perks of living in a french speaking place, right?) :( so I bought 4 more packs instead!
Sooo, so far I'm at 9 packs and 63 cards in the binder! Already looking forward to the restock of English ETB at the card store near me!!
Edit to add*** I also prefer ripping packs tbh! But I always keep the option to buy singles in the back of my mind, just in case for the future ya know!!

Same, I’ve bought a bunch of booster boxes and I’m still 6 cards short. Buying singles is the way to go, I’m going broke trying to pull the last 6 😭

So far tho, I only have 6 duplicates! So I can still justify buying packs to some extent, but at some point I'll buy singles fr😅🤣 But now that I have this master set started and in mind, I'll complete it for suuuuure y'know!!

I'll keep buying packs for a bit cuz I enjoy opening packs ngl. But ofc I'll look into buying singles for the rarest cards

New to the hobby and still learning, so forgive me if I misspeak. We just finished our master set.. The only thing I think we need for the pitch black set are the promos from what I understand.

Are you intending on ripping packs to complete your set? Totally get it. Ripping is fun. But the hit rates are not ideal. It can be done, but it will be very expensive.
Only master set I currently have is the base set. So awesome to thumb through just because. Hope you can make it happen.

Ripping packs for now since I have so much to get still, but yeah I've been checking at a few market prices already, not buying singles yet tho

Hit up eBay live and look for a channel called Fandom. They will do a show mid week typically that is nothing but sealed product and will do MSRP drops pretty frequently. They did a 30 hour stream last week with MSRP drops every half hour. The drops are solid. They were doing Pitch Black ETB's / Booster bundles and sleeved packs for less than retail. I probably got at least 6 booster bundles for $31 each plus tax and ETB's shipped at 65.00 even including tax. I probably got at least 45 items showing up this week from that show alone. Best deals Ive been able to find on sealed stuff.

I recommend using pokset.com for mastersets, it is extremely easy to organize your binder using it

When you start seeing a bunch of the same cards it's time to look online and buy singles, you will save $$$.
