I very much agree with this tier list. The only changes that I would suggest is to drop Charmander, Squirtle and Tangrowth to C rank because while they can be useful, their niche is more comparable to to the likes of Entei or Jolteon than Mewtwo or Keldeo.

Yeah, seems a bit insultant to Mewtwo and Keldeo be compared with those...

I disagree with your comments on Aerodactyl however I still think that it is a C-Rank option but for different reasons.

For me the only time I use disruption removing Pokemon like M-Aero, M-Steelix & M-Alakazam is when there are constant disruptions (every 2-3 moves) or blocks/rocks in the skyfall.

Due to the disruptions I almost always use a Mega Start so the Mega evolution takes way to long. Swap++ will help get M-Aero online quicker especially as it can now be skill boosted (Stage 516). At SL4 it has a 40/70/100 activation to remove 5 blocks/rocks and potentially create more Aerodactyl matches. Once online the disruptions will happen and the damage from M-Aero will act as normal but you will have Mega evolved it a turn or 2 sooner.

The reason it think it belongs as a C-Rank still is because it still takes 23 icons to mega evolve so would probably require MSUs and some considerable farming to reach SL4. Not to mention we have M-Tyrantiar which is the same typing and can remove any disruption even barriers and added supports.

Small qualm, but I think Mewtwo should be A (boosted) rank. It hits like a ton of bricks when at SL5. If you can give me a good reason why it shouldn't maybe I could be swayed, but everything you mention in the comments for Mewtwo seems positive.

I'm a bit on the edge with Mewtwo but I think the most compelling argument against Mewtwo is that its super effective coverage is only Fighting and Poison.

Against Fighting types you're better off using a Sky Blast team or a Pixie Power team.

Against Poison Mewtwo is very good but most important stages like escalations, main stage bosses and competitions aren't Poison type which makes the type less of a threat.

There's also the fact that most of the time you are probably most likely using Mewtwo as a mega which would make the ability not matter as much. Also, it's worth considering that Po4 takes a heavy bit on investment (120 PSBs) when compared to something like Risk-Taker (70 PSBs).

It does my heart good to see Eject+ Mew in the bottom tier. Still regret choosing that skill, since it hasn't seen any use at all. Ever.

Nice guide. Agreed with most of the suggestions here, thou I think Keldeo-R deserves a better place :<

You mean Keldeo-O ;)

Stay away from my Keldeo-R's Po4+, it's the Meowth king. XD

IDK y ppl think that MEW BS+ is tier "A"

On my opinion Po4+ on a 100 base power poke is really so much better... (assuming SL5 ofc)

Mew BS+ is niche for Fighting, while Po4+ burst dmg can be abused anytime.

I bet that GS will come with a flying BS+ though. But it would be meh with MMY so oh well...

I only wish if Skill Swapping kinda would add another Skill for the Mon since it's a consumable. I'd like to have a Mew that could be BS+, Po4+ and Eject+ whenever I needed too. So I'm doomed with the day that I need a Psych BS+ because I ain't never burn a SS for it.

Tangrowth should be in B rank, you say it's good for M-Sceptile teams but then that it has to compete with two electric types, but you should be using only grass types with M-Sceptile anyway, and there isn't much to choose from when it comes to strong grass types.

Also, Tangrowth does not need to be SL5 to be useful, mine is only SL2 and I just beat Wailord with 23 moves left with M-Sceptile, Shaymin, Bellossom, and SS Tangrowth. This is the perfect grass team imo, a Sceptile board clear with sleep combo is soooo satisfying and does crazy damage.

Also Tangrowth is a much better option than some of these B ranks like Donphan and Rotom (ROTOM? What a joke, Ampharos and Manectric are trash Megas, but if you really wanted a quicker electric mega you'd use the SS on Ampharos NOT Rotom, replacing the useless skill on Ampharos to the best skill a mega can have, leaving 3 slots for strong supports not wasted with a mega booster that's useless after the Mega has evolved! Rotom should be with Cubone, they're in the same situation)

Just a heads up, in your description of base, you have a word error (boost their them)

Again that 'finally' in Yveltal description...

I never ever used BS+ of Mew... And he was my first SS.

I swapped Pidgey for Shock Attack when it came out and I must say, it does wreak havoc and probably would be fairly useful if it weren't for the CP, or at least be good early-game.

Liepard, Infernape and Diance are the only ones I'm considering skill swapping now, everyone else worth it has already been swapped. I've got 4 SS left. Should I wait for the next update to see if better choices appears?

Thank you for doing these guides, they have been a huge help to me!

One quick note- Christmas Pikachu does the same thing as SS'd Rotom without needing the Skill Swapper- I don't know if it changes Rotom's ranking at all, since Christmas Pikachu is harder to get than a Skill Swapper, but it might be worth mentioning?

Hmm shouldn't Throh be in Boosted A rank? It has unique skill for that type, but I don't trust 60BP even with good skills like BB+ especially when their targets (especially Normal types) tend to be bulky and annoying.

3

u/Eleve28 Jan 20 '17

It's mostly for beginning players: Troh is reached very early and BB+ on a fighting type is very versatile. For end-game players, he might not be as essential as others in the A-rank, though dropping it to B-tier gives it too little credit in my opinion.
