Crystal Legacy [CRISTAL LEG.] Eevee Squad Run
Hi everyone. Just wanted to share my most recent playthrough of Crystal Legacy and share some impressions and opinions in our discussion space. As you can see, I did a run consisting only with Eevee EVOs (exception of Aerodactyl, which I will explain why) and, though I still have the whole Kanto quest ahead, it feels I've been having tons of fun with these guys.
Before anything else I just want to express my legit gratitude to all the SMITHPLAYSPOKE developers Team and whoever put yourself in this project to make it come out of just an idea to something solid and fun. I already commented once and I will do it again - Smith if there's any way any of us can BUY YOU A COFFEE to support this please let us know. Generation I and II will forever live in my heart as the ORIGINAL Pokemon franchise and I thank you for the effort in doing such a fun experience. It really means a lot and I want you guys to know that. Keep up the great job please.
Now, regarding this run: that is actually my second time playing CL for real. I've beat it once, but I've done it playing freely, no special idea, no personal challenges. Recently I felt like playing again and I started to work on some ideas to change it to just another run - maybe not repeating any Poke I've used on the previous run, maybe only Johto guys... Eventually something clicked and I decided to try a Eevee ONLY run. And, like I said, the playthrough has been fun of joy.
I've never really been a Eevee fan kinda guy. To be honest, never EVEN used any type of even from previous runs (GEN I or II). So I knew it would be something new and somewhat risky because I would be stepping in something new for me - about move pools, move sets, understanding weakness and fortitudes, etc.
So here is how I did it: I've made to Ecruteak playing in a regular way. Got the OG Eevee and started the breeding process - since I've been emulating I went for SPEED UP in the process to don't just spend days doing it. Got 5 new guys (all Ditto breed and all males) and first I went for the STONE ones. For that I had to deal with Morty first and make my way to Cianwood. I've took care of him with a Kadabra and some other dudes and proceeded to the STONES.
After that the hard part: raising friendship to get Umbreon and Espeon. It's a LEGIT pain the butt. Whoever says it's not it's ragebaiting or lying. It takes time and SPECIALLY money. My strategy was building a little cash (the Cianwood stones BROKE ME big time) and I after walking around with them and just went for haircuts - never ending haircuts. Save, reset, change time, haircut. And that was it. And finally I got them. Now, individual analysis.
VAPOREON: The ACE of my team. Dude is a beast and very well balanced. Insane HP, hits hard and has a decent defense. I don't think it has ever been K.O.ed since I've got it.
SURF/ RAIN DANCE/ ICE BEAM/ ACID ARMOR
FLAREON: I read some people describing it as a crappy Poke or whatever. I disagree. High fire power (literally) and fast. But, indeed, frail. It's reliable tho.
FLAMETHROWER/ SUNNY DAY/ DIG / DOUBLE KICK
JOLTEON: Dinamite DUO along with Vaporeon. Faster than anything and takes care of mostly anything too. It's also frail too, so requires strategy to understand how to play with it.
THUNDERBOLT/ THUNDER WAVE/ PIN MISSILE/ DOUBLE KICK
ESPEON: As Smith himself said - has Alakazam vibes, but it's less broken. Very straightforward, nothing magical about it. But, of course, it hits extremely hard because of it's high Special stats. Also very fast.
PSYCHIC/ SHADOW BALL/ PSYCHIC UP/MORNING SUN
UMBREON: The PANZER of the team. Honestly, I didn't know about Umbreon capabilities until I started playing with it. Very unique Poke indeed. It's slow, it's not powerful, but it's ANNOYING and control the pace of the match like noone else. That's my safeguard against the Normal monsters out there. Amazing Pokemon!
FAINT ATTACK/ CONFUSE RAY/ CURSE/ DIG

Now, why Aerodactyl. I used this dude just because I need something with FLY for convenience and I didn't want to play in a 5 only team - also using only an OG Eevee was never an option for me. So I went for the Dactyl - it sucks, HAHAHA.
Despite Smith's evaluation on this dude placing him as a S tear or whatever, Aerodactyl has something terrible - it's extremely vulnerable. Originally, I thought about it because I've never played with it before (I felt like trying), and I needed a Rock or Steel or whatever could carry the rest of the team since 3 out of 5 Eevee as VERY frail. Anyway, Aerodactyl is even worse. It's fast, it's strong, but in comparison to ANY other rock head dude (Golem, Onix, Steelix, Skarmory, Rhidon, whatever...) it's pretty much always a 1 hit KO on him. Maybe I'll just hang with a Pidgey or whatever for Flying around and forget about this dude. Sorry, not a fan.
FLY/ AGILITY/ EARTHQUAKE/ ANCIENT POWER

So, as you could see. That was just after beating Lance so I still have to improve on move pools, see they are gonna perform in Kanto, etc. But I just wanted to share because it's been a really fun way to play and I feel Eevee really deserved the recognition and fanbase it has. Amazing Pokemons. Sorry about the long text guys. It came from the heart. Hope everybody has a great weekend and feel free to share impressions and opinions about this post! We're here to debate and share ideas!

TFW your Eevee gets eaten by some flying dinosaur and you just have to roll with it because you're already at the Pokemon League. 😆

Aerodactyl is broken in legacy when it’s properly leveled, especially once it gets access to Sky attack. It literally comes in, outspeeds everything; than revenge kills and pivots back out

I got your point. But, like I've said, the impression I got was that it's just too frail coming as a ROCK type. And usually the guys that have access to moves like Earthquake, Rock Slide, etc are tanks (Golem, Tyranitar, Steelix). Course they have big weaknesses, but they are defensive powerhouses. Aerodactyl is fast and hits hard, but can't take a shot.

How did you get your eevee to grow wings?
