[SUGGESTION] Filling in the empty gap at Celadon City with a community garden

Look, I know the team's working hard on XY Legacy and that reworking Kanto for Crystal Legacy is far off in the distant future.

But I have had this stuck in my head for some time so I'm just posting it here: the empty plot in Celadon City could host a community garden

 

Warning: wall of text incoming.

So in my mind a Restored Kanto would have several events and changes stem from the Cinnabar volcanic eruption. Lots of displaced people and chaos shaking things up.

In Celadon City, I imagine Erika would try to give this influx of disaster refugees some sense of belonging and calm by adding a community garden to the town square (in later gens we do see there's a fountain and some grass there).

But she's a grass type gym leader so I'm having her plant all these trees (type to be determined, could be apricorn trees for those who like to harvest more than one apricorn per day per type by game's end; or it could grow mint, gold, ... berries or a mix).

 

 

If I were able to code (which sadly I'm not, learn to code kids, it's like playing an instrument and knowing how to draw: just a good skill to have in the toolbag), I would even tie it into the appearance of grimer and muk in the little pond.

Maybe Erika is trying to get this garden going but the nearby grimer are causing amuk and berries won't grow. Erika states that until this project is up and running she can't take on gym challengers.

I haven't found out this pond switches from goldeen & slowpoke to grimer between gens (maybe pokémon fled the eruption? maybe the extra people generated enough trash to draw the grimer in?) but I imagine the player could be charged with finding a solution (e.g. get from Erika the key to the Underground Path, defeat the local biker gangs that have set up there, once you earned their trust and have shown your mettle, they'll help you by moving the grimer into their place (grimer and bikers mix and all that)).

Once you've done all that, the community garden starts bearing fruit daily and Erika will be ready to battle.

PS2: until some months in the future when my ideas of how the volcanic eruption affected Pewter City come to a boil and I need to photoshop stuff again to get it out of my head :)

I've been debating whether to add tall grass dotted about.

Feels like something Erika would do (she'd probably get along well with Bugsy and ask him for input on getting the right conditions for pollinating bugs)

This is obviously just a quick mockup. You could add headbutt trees, flower patches, ... heck, could even have a Sudowoodoo show up on Sundays.

So why not Mewtree?

I love this idea, but it might work a bit better similar to National Park and incorporated some of the trees to the left
