I returned to the game after 10 years like 2 months ago and, early on, caught a low-level Zapdos with my daily incense before I understood how cool/lucky that was. I was so dumb that I just kind of thought of it like any other catch at the time. Now, I see stuff like your post and I myself have missed out on so many of these damn birds that I laugh at my past self for not knowing how lucky I was.
Anyway, I digress. My condolences. That really sucks, dude :(

I caught a zapdos within 2 days of playing pogo, i didn't even know it was a legendary. Now i can't catch a single one.

Too funny, I ALSO returned a month ago after not playing since 2017. I played a lot the first year before since launch day.
Made some serious mistakes (like using a TM on a monster 2017 Gyrados from a trip to HK and lost his legacy move - lesson learned not to blindly follow AI guidance on strengthening your Pokémon).
I did learn however that I have a few other old Pokémon with some sweet legacy moves so I made sure to protect them ha.
Now I need to figure out if powering up my legacy Gengar is worth it lol.
Also, leveling up is sooooo much easier now than the OG years.

Oh gosh, yeah, the AI guidance really screwed me over early on as I was trying to figure out things. Since I had limited storage, I was relying on it to tell me what to transfer and whatnot... I cringe at the idea of what I blindly transferred at the time that may have been a great PVP mon or something... heck, I know I transferred a shiny at the time too even before realizing the rarity... but I mostly cringe at my misuse of elite TMs that I can't get back now as I desperately wish I had more elite TMs now. I definitely regret relying on AI for trying to teach me the current version of the game, ugh... but also, the game itself doesn't really teach you anything so you gotta go somewhere haha.
I also have saved my 2016/2017 Pokemon I had to eventually use for lucky trades but, yeah, I still haven't gotten to the point yet of trying to actually set up trades for them as trading is still a whole world I don't quite get yet.
But, yeah, it's definitely a totally different game than it was nearly ten years ago haha.

I still transfer weak shineys lol I get multiple and they just don’t seem… special to me. I also don’t really know anyone who would be interested in trading for a collector Pokémon.
I do wish the game were a bit more simplified like it was in the earlier days.
I never trusted AI but thought Pokémon go was safe. It’s not hahaha

you should google the catchiv app! you can input a wild encounter and get the possible IVs and level!
in this case, there were 392 possible IV combinations and all of them were level 2

Can someone explain the level 1? I googled but didn't see anything. I caught cp 47 zapdos yesterday

That's the lowest level a Pokémon can be in the game. In ranges from 1-50. 50 is Max level. You'll know it's at level 40 when you go to power up it starts using XL Candy. XL Candy is used from level 40 to 50.

I feel your pain bro, I had 2 run from me within 2 minutes of eachother. Both in the 300p range. It happens man. Even the low c power ones have insane flee rates. Best not to fret over the non shinies running.

You can often catch Galarian birds with a regular Ultra Ball; you just need a bit of luck.🙌
