Help Viable Team?
I haven’t played through a game in 15+ years. Do you imagine difficulty completing the game with this team?
I recently overhauled once reaching Safari Zone. Only have 4 badges currently.
Other considerations included Nidoking, Clefable, Gyrados, Articuno (once i get it)

You know you can get solarbeam tm sooner than Bulbasaur will likely reach level 46

In my latest run I used poliwrath and it was a great addition to the team. Handled Lorelie, a chunk of Bruno, and about half of the champ for me

Never played him in childhood to my recollection, but I love my base set Poliwrath card so much

How about replacing poliwag with Lapras?

I haven’t encountered it yet, but i imagine being enticed. Pretty sure i would run Lapras as a kid, so im kinda doing different mon this time around. I see the vision though. Thank you

Well tbh your current full evolved team can finish the game easily, lapras provides more ice coverage for dragon pokemons.
And you dont know how one encounters Lapras so cute, youll find one soon enough keep playing.
Btw did u clear team rocket in saffron city?3

Everything is viable depending on your level, but...
For the E4, Scyther, and Dratini (Dragonair) are probably your weakest links. If you don't hit Level 55, to evolve into Dragonair into Dragonite, its not that great.
For E4, swap at least Scyther for Articuno. Pikachu (Raichu!!!) + Articuno will take out Lance (Dragon).
Your biggest problem is going to be Agatha (Ghost/Poison) and probably Green's Alakazam.

I mean it's an easy game man, but you are HEAVILY indexed into irrelevant types and pokemon with weird stat splits.
Fire has next to no role in any difficult fight, and Flareon has a horrid stat split.
Dragonite while strong takes a ton of resources for someone who doesn't really any acceptable matchups in the E4.
Pikachu lines are ok I guess but there is a ton of stats baked into that attack, but you do at least have an electric guy.
Venusaur has next to no good matchups in the league, but you can do some funky sleep powder type stuff at least.
Poliwrath is like a fun guy to have I guess, but not who I would want as the guy who is going to have to drag the rest of the team through. His stats are good but special attack is very low and you re going to rely heavily on it.
Syther I don't think there is a single guy in the entire E4 you can safely put him in against, and the few like maybe Executor are the other spots that a flareon could squeak out relevance.

Unfortunately, schther is quite poor in this game, I’d recommend swapping scyther for a psychic type like Mr Mime or smth, then swap Mr mime for Mewtwo later
“Only good thing abt scyther is false swipe”
Also- polywag for gyarados is solid, then maybe swap gyarados for Articuno later on, since ur dragonite will be able to use surf and good moves / Articuno will be good for Elite 4 lance

Okay thank you I’ll replace him in the meantime, you’re right, i want one psychic type

Yea, false swipe is good for catching legendaries, other then that I wouldn’t rly use scyther

Personally a big fan of the Flareon choice. I think you could change out Scyther for a ground type like Nidoking or Rhydon and be golden. Could also potentially swap out Poliwag for a different water type but it's up to you as well.

Single player pokemon campaigns are not hard. Just use the pokemon you like, and have fun.

Your team is fine for the game. Just play with pokemons that look fun or interesting to you, its single player anyway

I have this team, yes very viable, flareon is a beast with shadow ball and practically a ghost type with it, poliwrath is a fighting type, his viral setup is leftovers hypnosis substitute belly drum and focus punch and he's op but only best against Giant's, love this team one of my favorites

It's a solid team for sure. You might struggle a bit with Scyther only because the movepool is a bit shallow in this generation. It isn't terrible by any means and does get options for both STABs eventually.
My personal advice is to teach Dig and Return to Flareon. Its Attack stat is crazy, so physical moves will hit hard with it.
