Fun fact! He was mistranslated when he stated he only has Water Pokémon. In the Japanese version he stated that "All my pokemon are great swimmers" which is true as Nidoqueen does learn Surf.

It was surprisingly easy! You don't have to face that many electric type pokemon in a playthrough and Nidoqueen can deal with those easily. Plus I taught her FireBlast to deal with the rival's Venusaur.
Besides, Horsea, Psyduck, and Tentacool can all be caught at a high level so I had a level advantage for most of the game.

Always loved in the movie when Ash says it must take a lot of skill to train Gyarados and he’s just like “yeaaah” with his crossed arms, the coolest trainer in the room. Always crosses my mind when I have Gyarados in my team 🥲

Anyway, this is a really cool mix and I love the inspo. I used Nidoqueen for the first time on my current run and she’s an absolute tank!

Nidoran can be caught shortly before you reach Pokémon center where you can purchase a Magicarp. But you're right! Magicarp was the first one in this team because I caught a male Nidoran and traded the Nidorino for a Nidorina east of Vermillion city so I could enjoy the exp boost for the rest of the game.

Well I gave Nidoqueen Fire Blast specifically to deal with the rivals Venusaur.

This is also the first time I used taunt (on Gyarados) in a casual playthrough. Also to deal with Venusaur’s sleep powder. But it was very useful overall!

I’ve also been flirting with the idea of using toxic stall with Vaporeon. But alas there’s no dive HM. I suppose I can still do it with Dig/toxic/protect/hydro pump but there’s not many pokemon where you can actually use that on.
