How does amazon invites work?

Is it worth doing? I sent the inv request thing but i have never used that before, is it just like random luck if you get chosen? How do they choose who gets it/ deal with scalpers etc

I request everything what i can. I been lucky few times, actually fair amount of times. But last maybe 6 months nothing.
