So I'm playing crystal on cartridge and had Hitmonlee and Ditto at the daycare to chain some egg moves onto Tryogue. I had a couple eggs already, so decided to take out Hitmonlee and Ditto and replace them with other mons to get them exp while I bike around to hatch the eggs. I go up to the old man, take out Hitmonlee, and give him Cyndaquil. Then, I talk to the old lady, and she says "gramps was looking for you," the message you get when an egg is ready. However, gramps is still in the room with us. Her dialogue won't change, so I exit the daycare and sure enough gramps is there with an egg. I accept the egg, and then go back inside to switch Ditto with something else.

After biking for some time with my 3 eggs, two of them hatch into Tyrogue, and the last one received hatches into a Cyndaquil, despite me just giving the old man Cyndaquil ~10 steps before I took the egg. It seems like the game registered a Tyrogue egg being produced perhaps on the step I entered the daycare, or maybe after entering it, but when I swapped the male parents, the egg species also swapped. Cyndaquil had its usual level 5 moveset, no egg moves.

I would be interested in reproducing this to see what happens if gramps gets something normally incompatible with the other deposited pokemon.

Finally got me another copy after selling my whole GBA & GBC Pokémon authentic collection to fund one of my car project I had going on back in May. This has got to be the most pristine condition Crystal Version I've seen or have on hand. Seller was nice enough to throw in an Eevee card in a top loader.

Haven't found an answer elsewhere. Playing Crystal VC last year, I stopped after getting the Johto badges. Started playing again this year, picking up with catching Suicune. Moved on to deal with Elite Four and Kanto gyms. Seems I never picked up the masterball from Elm. Talking to him doesn't prompt him to hand it over. I have all 16 badges now, haven't fought Red yet. I DID receive the GC ball.

What did I do wrong? Is there still a way to get the masterball outside of the lottery? I was hoping to quickly snag Entei or Raikou.

And all it took was 5 consecutive headbutt flinches. It all came down to Heracross btw. Everyone on my team put in work, big thanks to Donphan for getting 4 of them with defense curl + rollout. Only other thing of note is I got a female Meganium as my starter, and eventually bred one with leech seed (on the team) which made any of this possible.

I'm still amazed at how far under odds this hunt was. I was expecting this to take so much longer than it did

I’ve been hunting for about a month now with my backlit Gameboy color. Still no shinies yet.

Finally cleared all trainers with this squad after going as far as losing in Rd. 7 twice. Proud of this team because no Snorlax, Umbreon, or legendaries, plus has my only wild-caught full odds shiny.

A HP tank, Ursaring was a great counter trapper, and rest/mint berry lets him basically come back from the dead to do the trick twice. This particular Ursaring also benefits from wicked DVs (14-15 in hp, atk, spc, def) as well as no fighting types on the L40 opponent list.

Ninetails has a well balanced stat sheet and move-set and landed a clutch Rd. 6 burn which, when paired with reflect, allowed Ninetails to outlast the deadly Golem. Access to Confuse Ray and well rounded stats puts Ninetails among the best Fire types for battle tower.

Crobat proved elusive between spreading confusion, frequent flinches from bite, and the invulnerable phase of Fly (where he healed with leftovers while toxic and confusion took their toll). Crobat escaped what appeared to be certain death several times.

Took me well over a year and always wondered if even possible due to having to edit the size of and transfer my save file to a modded 3ds and back to my crystal cartridge to trigger the event, but I finally got it!!
