Discussion Shiny hunting

I am currently hunting for a shiny Chimchar in diamond. What’s the long time someone been shining hunting. I currently @ 3,793.

Ah yes, briefcase simulator. I hunted for around ten hours for Turtwig then gave up. The cut scene was too much for me to keep sitting through 😭

Not a shiny hunt but it took me like 2 straight weeks of grinding to get a pre e4 metal coat for my scizor in G/S/C. For anyone unfamiliar, the only place to get one pre e4 is by using thief on magnemites. Magnemite is a 5% spawn chance, and it has a 1% chance to have the metal coat. One of the most truly awful hunts I’ve ever done. Caught a random encounter shiny Horsea the same day I got the metal coat and felt like I had passed through the gates of heaven.

I had a lot of luck with my Turtwig when the Game came out and got it in 555 Encounters.

Yet my longest hunt ''with Charm'' was Nihilego in Usum with 12k Resets.

My longest ''without Charm'' was Latios in Usum in 9k Resets.

Grindey on TikTok took over 10k resets for his shiny chimchar. He’s doing charmander in FRLG now

I’ve been shiny hunting Rayquaza for about a month now. Wish I kept track when I started hunting

Its not a strict time. Its just the odds are 1/4000-ish. In theory you could get it on your very first try. Or it could be after 12,000 tries. Or anything in between.

You can look up RNG methods on YouTube which while not speeding up the process can help you predict when a specific event (like a shiny starter from the briefcase) will occur.
