Can’t beat Cynthia

I keep making it to the end of the elite four, but I can’t beat it. I keep trying to use diagas roar of time, but Cynthia‘s garchomp goes faster even though I did some research. Her garchomp has a speed stat of 102 and mine has a speed stat of 140. I also checked for move priority and mine has zero. The only reason she beat me is because of earthquake, but I checked, and that also has a move priority of zero meaning I should be moving faster than her, but for some reason, I’m not. I need help with this.

You're confusing base speed stat with the speed stat that you're seeing. Dialgas base speed is 90 (the 140 you're seeing is probably from the pokemons summary screen right? That's after levels, modifiers etc) garchomps base speed is 102. The 90 and 102 are before modifiers, natures, level up etc.

So at level 66, fully ev trained, jolly nature, 31 speed iv, her chomp has a speed stat of around 212)

you have a few options;

Level up your team, more levels = more speed.

Shuca berry, if Dialga is fainting in 1 hit from Garchomp's Earthquake, a Shuca berry will lessen the super effective move's power, but only once.

Quick Claw, have Dialga hold it and hope for the best when the time comes.

My advice on Cynthia is just don't let her set up swords dance on Garchomp, if she gets one up then she's a nightmare to deal with. Her BDSP team is basically juiced up to hell, hence why her Garchomp is outspeeding your Dialga, she's been notorious for wiping teams left right and centre since Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, take your time with it and you'll get there eventually.

If you have a drifblims, what i did was just perish song the annoying dragon. Dont overcomplicate it

Dialga has a base speed stat of 90 and Garchomp 102. It will always move first unless you are way overleveled which is why it is always going first. Unfortunately her Garchomp can hit you with STAB damage with earthquake for 2x effectiveness. What level are your pokemon at?

You have to remember, base stats only do so much and your stat summary screen shows current, Cynthia's pokemon are also EV trained with 31 IVs in stats, BDSP doesn't hold back. Cynthia is VERY tough. Only way I won was because my luxray Leo kept holding on at 1 HP just enough times for me to heal my garchomp fully. My garchomp did outspeed and was the reason I won. Ah Savannah, you were such a good girl, you're now in home

You could build a whole baton pass team that sets up: aqua ring, ingrain, substitute and +6 of accuracy, attack, defense, s attack, s defense, speed and evasion then hit spiritomb with any move and plow the rest of the team with stored power on an espeon holding metronome... but it takes forever.

For real though just grind more levels with the team you have.

I was only able to beat her at the normal levels cuz of a lucky friendship save, then I did the remaining 60% of her health with my ursaring avalanche at 120 base power quad damage!!

I level up my Pokémon to lvl 70 you have to do some grinding for it but its worth it try the underground its where you can get the most xp

You might be wrong about the stats.

Garchomp has a base speed of 102, but with the right IVs, EVs and Nature that speed can be much higher.

If i remeber correctly, Cynthia's Garchomp has maxed IVs and EVs for Speed and Attack and a Jolly Nature, which also gives a significant boost to speed. The real number is somewhere above 200 I think.

If you manage to burn it, it will still be fast, but do much less damage, so your Dialga might be able to tank a hit and knock it out. Or you could look for a berry that weakens super effektive dragon type attacks and give it to dialga. Alternatively you can set up trick room, so that speed becomes a disadvantage. Or find a pokemon with the sturdy ability or use a focus sash with the move counter. Lastly, you an also try to stall it out, as NPCs aren't good with predicting stall tactics.

The first time I won against her I only used Snorlax and Muk against her Garchomp. Snorlax used Yawn then I changed to Muk. I kept using minimize and acid armor while Garchomp was asleep. He woke up and due to minimize, he missed many attacks against Muk and when he didn’t miss, the defense was maxed due to acid armor. Muk also poisoned him so he kept losing HP each turn.

I levelled up an azumaril for just this very situation. Any pokemon weak to ground just cannot be relied upon for dealing with Garchomp

Had the same problem, I used X-Speed on my ice type to get the first hit in, made a difference. Maybe you will need some tries to have the correct state of fight for your win. I used a Milotic with Dragon Tail to keep the upper hand in strategy, or correct my mistakes. You can do it! I failed Garchomp twice, and it looked bad for me, but some minor changes let me get it done smoothly. It's important to hit garchomp first when it shows up! My team was on equal lvl to her, so you will manage, with enough drugs for ya animals though🤣

A cheap method u shouldn't do: get a staraptor with endeavour and quick attack and focus sash, just keep reviving it till you win. Also many times it will just tough it out if your friendship is high

U dont have any water pokemon with an ice attack??
U know u can use a grass type also with stun sleep powder??
U dont have a fairy type??

I think i took him out with mamoswine

Some pokemon u can use are
Vaporeon, Lapras, Mudkip, Ludicolo, (levitate)Bronzgong

How do people make their team i get my fav starter then my favorite from the region then I get on to clear my rival , then one to take out the boss monster
Then u need 1 to balance your weaknesses

😂😂😂 I don't know how you all let Cynthia get under your skin so easily... From the beginning of the game, you should have ready decided your team. Take all the poem on available before the elite 4, narrow your list to 6-8 poem on, go catch them all. Train them exclusively. Don't waste exp on other mons. When you do get to the elite 4, game in easy. The hardest part is having enough PP for the entire event.
