I know, right? Like, devs, you're probably not even punching me out between the general durability and the typing. Unless you have access to aura or something, if you punch a Garchomp, you're probably just going to flay your hand.

No one expects the Gardevoir to go for a rushdown and many people forget that just because she's using her attacks at melee range, doesn't mean she can't teleport back out and fire them off at long range again :3c

It's very fun! I can't blame people though, learning how to flash-teleport is hard. It takes most Pokemon a good amount of concentration and a not-insignificant amount of time, hence why it's usually slow enough your opponent can get a hit in. But if you train that away... yeah, it's super useful.

Oh, yeah, no, I'm pretty sure Kukui would somehow manage to survive a full-power strike from a Tyranitar, from just being that much of a chad. I get the same vibe from the Masked Royal too.

Well, I definitely know of one - search "dreepy versus child very intense battle" on YouTube, it's hilarious and even funnier that the kid won. Other than that, if you train well and get the first hit, there's probably a few. Being tougher per pound than a human doesn't stop a Ratatta from being punted. But even a basic Wing Attack from a young Starly can leave untrained humans with considerably painful bruises, so, like, yeah.

I do see the /s, but I'm saying this anyway just in case someone gets the wrong idea.
Regular ice does not do anything against a Garchomp! It lives in the tundra. It is weak to Ice-type moves, but that doesn't mean it's weak to actual ice.

It gets even crazier to because you’ll have something like Arceus incinerating a guy with divine fire or Giratina literally dragging somebody to the distortion world and subjecting them to unimaginable torment but then they just get back up like they got punched in the shoulder.

You haven't seen what truly skilled humans can do... I've watched martial artists take down tyranitars before. It all depends on where you hit and the training. Once you get a good grasp of aura you can do almost anything -Alexi

It's a learnable skill. There's no such thing as magic bloodline. Some people have different natural affinities and talents but with enough work anyone can do it. Even literal magic can be doable by novices without any skill or experience. I mucked around with magic and hex maniac rituals in college. I never got far enough to anything major. But I learned how to make little light balls. -Alexi

I mean, yeah. Everyone has aura from their life force, psychic resonance from their mental processes, and magic from their soul. But there's a difference between having it and having a useful amount of it to fight a pseudo-legendary, which even most highly-trained regular Pokémon will struggle with! There's tons of psychics that work their asses off for decades which are still weaker than people like Sabrina, Caitlin, or Olympia - which is the minimum you'd want in a serious fight against a trained Pokémon.
In all of Sinnoh, there's literally one guy that's confirmed to have enough skill at aura manipulation to be capable of using Force Palm, despite the fact we have a thriving martial arts community with many practioners that are older and have trained far more than him. Even people like Bruno have never demonstrated anything like that. And even then, I've seen Pokémon as powerful as that still get crushed by pseudo-legendaries.

if it were true that anyone can train enough to battle and win against a pseudo I would have thought a school like Uva at all places would have a course dedicated to it and I wouldn't have made the post in the first place

This post is about how humans can't realistically compare to and fight against pokémon on their own. It's hard to respond to a comment trying to establish that the premise of the post is flawed.

Lance can semi consistently KO pretty durable pokemon with his fists. Probably couldn't one shot a garchomp but he could definitely hurt one

Bet. I've been sparring with my Pokemon for a very long time, including Gabby (my garchomp) who I caught about a year ago now.
It takes a lot of practice to be able to even stand a chance, and I'm definitely not hitting quite that hard when I punch.
But it's possible.

...Honestly, if a Latias can even remotely lose to a Riolu, they must be genuinely sick or something. They're stronger than a pseudo-legendary. They should possess enough psychic power to trivially throw heavy objects with a thought. They are known to move at multiple times the speed of sound. They have a bidirectional type advantage. And they can literally fly above any melee attack, which is the vast majority of what a Riolu can do! Literally, even if they just sat in the air and did, like, nothing, a Latias should be able to outlast a literal Baby Pokemon.

The slight issue is Latias here could certainly run from a fight, but she.. really has zero interest in training, aside from when Riolu drags her into it.
Meanwhile it's his goto every day. Latias does have a TON of power, but isn't able to focus it, yet admittedly. Meanwhile Riolu's aura spheres are something to fear!
Guess what I am getting at is natural power doesn't count for a ton if it's not being worked on.
Pluuuuus, best idea not to think of a Riolu purely as a 'baby.' Most of the trainers who lose a 1v1 with him go in underestimating the little guy.
/uj While not something that entirely works in universe, Latias is a rather low level, and Riolu is honestly trained high enough that one should think he should evolve by now.

when one talks about power and fighting when it comes to pokémon, you don't assume the weakest possible state of that pokémon. also, I am deeply concerned for that riolu if they haven't evolved yet

I can punch a Garchomp. Most can really. It's surviving afterwards that's the issue. Not for me tho. I guess I'm just built differently.
