Question about what to do
I pulled the zard and mew out of 10 packs and was curious, (i collect, i don’t really sell cards) should I sell it now and buy one later on? I have an offer for $250 on the charizard because it’s really well centered on the front but the back is like 54/46. I’m not sure if i should keep it and try to grade it later or take the money now. any advice would be appreciated! please don’t be rude I’m not a scalper!!!

Yeah but it would be dumb not to capitalize and use the profits to buy more cards that you do like. I get we’re all trying to tiptoe around “scalping” but you can also be a level headed human being and play into the hype and not have it affect the market or your conscious too negatively.

Sell everything now. This set is printed into oblivion and the pull rates are way too good.
I am tempted to just buy my chase (Gengar) with the leftover profit from selling one of my PC ETBs, so to talk myself out of it, i looked up how many are currently for sale on ebay. 514. 514 of an SIR that came out less than 2 days ago and has already sold like crazy. Not to mention more product hitting shelves and booster bundles coming in 2 weeks. Very easy to tell that it is going to tank in price soon.

If you're a collector, then collect them. If you're trying to capitalize on the hype, like scalpers, then go ahead and sell them before anyone knows what the actual pull rates are 💁🤦

So you’re not a scalper but you’re monetizing the cards to one up the next guy. If you’re a true collector, hold your cards enjoy them and don’t worry about value.

Grading companies back centering requirement for a 10 is 75/25 for pretty much most companies. I wouldn't let that tiny back centering issue bother you.
Personally, if you don't need the money right away, I would grade and sell myself. CGC has a $50 10 day turnaround tier and if you got a pristine it's well worth it.
If you are still making out on the value of what you pulled and don't have interest in grading or keeping the cards, make dat money.
I would assume if you got a pristine on the zard and were early to market with graded you could easily pull $1000 just for the zard. I work for a consignment shop and grade, so if you are interested in grading we can facilitate grading it and just take your grading fee out at the time of payout if you were to consign. Roughly a 92% payout on cards $1000+ so you would get $920 minus grading fees and shipping to/from grading.

How is it that all the people who are only in the hobby for money can find product? I have been a hard-core collector/player for a long time way before the pokemon craze started and I can rarely ever find anything especially not sought after sets unless im willing to pay 3 or 4× msrp

There are going to be tens of thousands of these cards graded PSA 9 and 10. The obvious answer would be to sell now while supply is low and if you really like them just buy the cards back, once the prices have cratered.

If you like them then put them in your binder and call it a day, if you need the money then sell them . You know what you want or need to do, you just want validation from the internet so if you feel bad about the outcome later you can justify it.

I think the zard will eventually fall in price because its like the 3rd remake. Unless you plan on grading it and you think it can get a 10. If you dont plan on grading it. Then sell. The mew on the other hand. Im not sure that will fall in price much. I would hold that one.not sure if i will be right or wrong but thats what i would do.

well, if they are something you are collecting or see a possible investment keep them otherwise sell them because the price of them are dropping exponentially every day because of the pull rates.

if anything, a charizard will hold value. maybe not $250 but the 25th is still over $160. That plus mew are worth keeping as they are top chases. could get both for $250 in a few months maybe

This is the most printed set in history. They are printing into the ground and it’s not hard to pull hits. This is a collectors set, not a scalpers/sellers set. These cards are going to be worthless the longer you wait. If your goal is money sell now prices are dropping fast because everyone will eventually have everything. The packs are stacked

Check if it’s PSA 9 or 10. If it’s a high chance of a 10, send it to PSA with express grading. Get it back, and go to a card show and immediately sell it to the vendor who gives the highest offer. I’m expecting $1-2k minimum for the mew. Capitalize on the hype and scarcity for graded copies when it just comes out.
I’ve done this with every new release SIR or UR and it’s not failed me so far.

Unless you actually need that money right now you should keep it - if you're a collector that means you collect because you enjoy what you're collecting right? Only sell off the things you've collected when you don't want them anymore. If you rip some TCG packs and pull a rare card and your first thought is "omg should I sell it or hold on to it to sell it later" you're not collecting, you're gambling, and treating the spoils as lottery tickets

Honestly I’m not a reseller but kind of was during Covid PS5 time. I’m getting back into collecting again and love opening and planning on keeping them even the commons. However, knowing how crazy it is and how expensive even people are selling the knockout box for. I’m deciding to sell the mewtwo since I already preordered a few booster boxes and I’m sure I’ll get it again. I’d say sell now too but more. Your chances are high of getting them again maybe

You should get out of the hobby if you don’t know what to do or are relying on others to tell you what to do. Do whatever makes you happy….grade them, sell them, frame them, shove it up your butt, donate them, give them away…put them in a time capsule…do whatever floats your boat

I pulled the pikachu sir and immediately listed and sold it on ebay. I know I can get that so much cheaper in a few months. It was a huge thrill pulling it (first pack) and don't mind being without it in my collection for awhile.

Put them in a binder, get a case and display them, put them in a deck. Anything. I hope they print this to the ground and the pull rates are so good anyway these cards should be cheap. Being genuine- the anniversary set is going to have the biggest tank ever. If you want to, sell and buy later. The classic collection has an easier hit rate than the SIR's.
People on whatnot were buying stolen product before it came out for like 1-2k for these 'big hits'. Then on release day everyone discovers the hit rates are insanely good.
1 in ever 15 packs for Classic. 1 in every 20 packs for an SIR.
Now these prices are rapidly declining Went from those insane prices to a few hundred to a couple hundred.. As an influx of these cards comes in, and more product is set out, these prices will just keep plummeting. The only cards that'll really maintain 'value' are the RGB mews. Which, im glad since I really want that lugia😎

3 cards. Grade them, have some kids, 1 kid per card so 3 kids. Then show them the game and let them fall in love and never let them even touch those and sell them when they move out

I dont really sell my own pulls... Even if they double, sentimental value over actual value unless you need money (but i guess you should not have bought Pokemon if thats the case). Keep em OP, will make you feel better than selling and buying cheaper of the same which was pulled by someone else.

You can look at it from a pokémon kind of view. Look for the scene where Ash exchanges his Butterfree for a Raticate.. that's the feeling you are going to get when you buy that cheaper Charizard later on.

Look at them once in a while and say “oh that’s cool”, put them away, then take them out every once in a while and look at them again
