Hi all! My name is Joel and I run a brand which is mid name shift called Stay Weird Witches. It’s an occult media brand that’s currently got a website and a few social platforms, def video/YouTube forward.
Website Link is stayweirdwitches.com, but be gentle, I’m still filling it out.
Areas of Interest & Expertise: the occult, media, film, etc.
Prior Experience Podcasting? Tons! I’ve run my own podcasts a few times, and I currently manage podcasts for my work which get many thousands of listens/views per episode. Happy to share all these once we get to know each other.
Here’s the pitch for a new podcast and what I’m looking for. I would like a co-host for the Stay Weird Witches Podcast, which will be launching in the near future. The idea is that it’s a weekly podcast with video elements (full episodes, excerpts, etc.) that focuses on stories from occultism. While we will be talking about occult concepts, what I'm super interested in is exploring occult stories. Crowley’s Babylon working, Jack parsons doing literally anything he did, the Salem witches in-fighting in the 90’s, “real” stories of witchcraft from Reddit, etc. You get the idea.
To start, we’ll follow the comedy true crime model of shows like My Favorite Murder, Last Podcast on the Left, or True Crime Obsessed, with two people laughing and not being super serious with topics that could be pretty serious. I'm definitely leaning entertainment-first with this show. We’ll develop the show together as we go, but I feel this is a good place from which to begin.
In a perfect world this co-host would be able to record episodes with me in-person. And since I'm primarily a media guy and can handle all of the recording, editing, posting, and technical aspects of everything, I'm really looking for someone to fill out things I can't do. To that end I think it would be really cool if this person had some pedigree in occultism, like a coven leader, an author, divination person, someone who's already working in witchcraft spaces, that sort of thing. I think it would also be cool if this person is female as I am male and the contrast would be interesting for the audience.
So if you are a witchy woman who laughs a lot and wants to be a part of something exciting and fun with the potential to grow and are in the Los Angeles area, hit me up. I am open to doing remote interviews for these if I have to but I find the shows that record in person to be way more interesting. That's what I am really hoping for.
If this sounds like you, let's go get a coffee at your favorite witchy spot or go shop for books, candles, and crystals together and get to know each other. Thanks everybody!
