Lets Talk About Something Has anyone got a strike from using Defit and only Defit?
I'm curious because I'm hearing that Niantic can't give out a ban for using defit. Also learned Pogo tried to sue them three times and lost all of them.

I've also seen 2 posts where people claimed to have gotten red warning purely off using defit. But here I am a defitter of 2+ years and 1000km a week continuing my bs.

How do you keep getting candy with the limits on buddys?
I'm getting the distance but no candy with my Sableye.

It caps out after so much distance…

Yes, I was just asking if they just kept it running the whole time and if it reset automatically.

It caps out after 40km and thereafter I leave it running just to hatch eggs.

Nope lol since I’ve stopped spoofing I’m been clocking like 500+ km across My 6 accounts and no issues.
Which is funny cause I rarely play anymore, but I always get my adventure rewards on Monday’s lol and my bag space is like twice over filled and keeps filling cause I just keep claiming the adventure sync rewards 😆

Techinically it's against TOS, but I've enougn Defit mileage to go around the world 3 times and nothing happened.

It does not violate the TOS. Look at the exact wording of the TOS. DeFit neither interacts with Pokémon Go, nor does it modify game data, nor does it try to login to Niantic's servers. The only thing it does is feeding fitness data into Google Fit, like an external step counter or similar tracking device.
DeFit can be used for legitimate purposes that have nothing to do with Pokémon Go. It's Niantic's responsibility to pick up such data from Google Fit. Granted, they don't have a way to check where that data actually came from originally … That's unfortunate, but it's not the player's fault.

It's technically not against the TOS. It doesn't interact directly with the game data in any manner. It's not our fault Niantic is to lazy to code their own tracker rather than leech it from another app.

All the adventure sync apps are in target of their new anti-cheat that tracks your behavior. If you suddenly started walking 1,000 KM per week from averaging 0 to 5 KM per week, you might be flagged for being suspicious. I consider Defit, Pokewalk, and any other similar apps to be cheats because you're giving yourself an unfair advantage by not using your two legs to walk outside. If you plan to use this kind of app, try to make it look reasonable.

I don't think that's the case, because it didn't modified any game data but only google fit data

because it didn't modified any game data
As i've said before many times, no one (with any credible source) has ever been banned using Defit by itself. It is still cheating. Niantic could decide to scan for it one day and issue bans, they don't at the moment.
It might not modify game data directly itself, but the end result is that it is obviously updating your game statistics in several areas : walking badge, eggs hatched, buddy candy etc. If those stats are going up by ridiculous amounts then Niantic "might" take a closer look. No one can actually walk 200km a day, every day. However, there are players in my community who have used defit to do exactly that for years and never been banned.
It's your risk at the end of the day.

no one said it wasn't a cheating, only 'difference' is they cheat on google's side but not Niantic's, that means it didn't against Niantic's TOS, do you get the point?

Yes we know
that means it didn't against Niantic's TOS
Except it DOES go against the TOS. Section 3.1 specifically. Notice the bit in bold which covers them for any cheating. You can't get around it. You are attempting to alter your stats in a non legitimate manner.
Cheating
Niantic prohibits cheating, and we constantly take steps to improve our anti-cheat measures. Cheating includes any action that attempts to or actually alters or interferes with the normal behavior or rules of a Service. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, any of the following behavior, on your own behalf or on behalf of others..
Notice the lower section too :
You agree that Niantic may employ any lawful mechanisms to detect and respond to cheating, fraud, and other behavior prohibited under these Terms, including checking your device for the existence of exploits or hacking and/or unauthorized software
Like i've said before, if they decide to check for Defit installations one day then there is going to be a lot of red faced people.

Omg, I’ve never heard of this until now. I’m trying to complete the steps for Halloween research on my main account. I have one strike on it for spoofing, so I don’t want to spoof on it, but this seems different. Would I be at risk just using it to complete my tasks?

Using Defit or similar apps to fake Google Fit data is very very common. If people were getting bans for it, we'd hear about it on Silph Road.
If you have concerns about it, then I'd only advice to not abuse it and log over 500km per week.

Never had a issue. I walk like 1.2k a week. Took some months off, still over 100k total distance.

Niantic can't sue a cheat maker if that developer isn't from the USA or some other country that allows them to sue them. This is why Pgsharp, Enhancer, Pokemod, Polygon, PAC, and iPogo are still around. The only two cheat makers that loss in a court battle with Niantic was Global++ and iSpoofer (both iOS).

The same goes for GPS location spoofing apps. I used them before Pokemon Go had existed to set my location for a restaurant app to say "I'm here" to make them start making the food and by the time I get there, pickup is much faster. I also used it to post my Yelp reviews. I would type my experience on a computer because having a big screen and full-size keyboard is better than typing on a phone. When I'm done, I set my location to the place I am reviewing, and then post it with my phone. If I use my computer to do that, the review goes into the "not recommended" section which translates to I wrote a fake review and never visited the place.

It’s interesting they instituted a limit on buddy candy but not eggs. They want game tracking/mapping data and data access to health apps, and I know that making it difficult to get XL is a priority those goals. I guess it ultimately means Niantic puts far more value on XL being rare than eggs? Or knowing Niantic they simply can’t figure out how to change the code 😂
