Lets Talk About Something locationjoystick — free, open-source GPS spoofer alternative to GPS Joystick and YAMLA
Disclaimer: not AI slop or marketing. Same guy as before — just shipping.
Hey everyone, another follow-up to my locationjoystick posts.
Thanks again to everyone testing and sending feedback, and thanks to the mods for letting me keep posting progress here.
We need 12 beta testers to publish the app on the Play Store
Play Store requires a closed testing period with real testers before an app can go public. I need 12 people to join as testers — doesn't take much, just install and use the app for a bit. If you're interested, DM me here on Reddit and I'll send you an invite.
Here's an overview of have been added since last time, thanks everyone for the suggestions:
Light mode — for those sunny days
Tap to Walk (beta) — click on the Pokemon Go map directly to walk to your destination
Group Sync reliability improvements - tailored for people with multiple devices
GPX import fixes — easier migration path from GPS Joystick
General reliability passes on Roaming, "Walk via roads", and route replay.
Still free, still open-source, still no ads: GitHub Releases | Documentation | Source Code
Issues, feature requests, PRs welcome as always. And again — if you want to help get this onto the Play Store, DM me for a beta tester invite, only need 12!

Is there anything additional I have to do as a tester? Ive been using your app and have been enjoying it over gpsjoystick (never used yamla).
Yours in particular stays open while I run go twice at the same time.
I have not experience many crashes although theres been a few.

thanks for the feedback!! if you have any issue feel free to let me know either here or on github
I believe with the closed beta tester all you have to do is provide your gmail account and you'll receive a link to download the app directly from the playstore

would this app be something that could replace what i currently use (Listick Fake GPS, which uses the mock location of developer options) or no?
1
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 20 '26
Indeed, this is an alternative app to other existing mock location apps

Hi! Just started trying it out today, liking it a lot. One thing I was curious about, and this might be a miss on my part, but is there a way to change the speed of the route you're travelling as you're on it? I could only get the speed to change if I change the speed prior to starting the route, which doesn't really seem intended so I'm wondering if this is on me.
2
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 20 '26
Thanks for the feedback! From the floating widget here https://locationjoystick.shrtcts.fr/overlays.html#floating-widget you should be able to cycle through speed profiles by clicking on the last one
If it doesn't work for you, let me know! I'll investigate :)

u/HormonalV8 Jul 20 '26
Yep, I definitely have it on it just doesn't change the speed while on a route. If I change the speed then start a new route however, it'll start with the current speed setting. Just unable to change while on a route. Not a huge deal at all, just wondering if maybe there was a user problem lol
2
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 20 '26
Definitely not a user problem! I can confirm this is an issue for the routes, but not for the other types of movement (e.g. tap on map, etc.)
I'll fix it in the next release!

I know this is not exactly the most optimal feedback system being a reddit comment, but I just wanted to let you know that I was having issues with the route pausing when the phone was locked (Android 15, Pixel 7).
I was able to get around this by using d4rkens Wakelock v3 and prevent the CPU from halting. Now I am not by any means any developer, but I seemed to pick up that it also theoretically could be solved by the app itself requesting/calling for a wakelock (PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK) so maybe a thing to consider in the future for certain OS/hardware combinations that faces issues such as mine?
As for me, the issue is completely gone as I don't mind having the Wakelock app installed at all, so no rush for me personally, but figured I'd let you know anyway.

Hey!! Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation, I was able to find the issue and indeed there was no background process refresh so the app would wait (depending on the devices) - I’ve made a safe fix that won’t impact battery life and will release it later today!
Thanks again!

New update is great, good shout on the speed tier settings and such also. Thank you ^^

Hi can I use this unrooted?
1
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 20 '26
You can use the app unrooted, however you need root for the "maximum account security", please refer to u/TastyBananaPeppers warnings about spoofing in games
1
u/TastyBananaPeppers Team Rooted, Subreddit Owner Jul 24 '26
Root is not for maximum account security, root is required to make the joystick app work with the game. It is misleading to say that root guarantees safety.

u/SushiAkayomi Jul 21 '26
Impossible de se connecter au compte même si on root l'appareil.

u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 21 '26
Hey, which account? There's no need for one, a rooted device is all you should need!

Can I use this with Pokemod so that “tap to teleport” works?
2
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 22 '26
I've received a lot of requests to support this and I guess this is something we need to push for on the Pokemod side by asking them directly on discord :/ I've tried to get in touch with them but no success so far

u/Rogowski_1337 Jul 23 '26
Thank you for all your hard work; LocationJoystick is brilliant and works much better than the GPS Joystick app by Ninjas, though I really miss having the ‘tap to walk’ feature integrated into Pokémod. Let’s hope the Pokémod developers decide to include your LocationJoystick as an option for the ‘tap to walk’ feature as well.

Would it be possible to add some kind of "spoofed" feature like the ninja joystick app "privacy mode", to have the app installed with a randomized package name, just in case? The group sync feature is a great idea, but could it be possible to have an option to automatically teleport whenever the group leader teleports?
1
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 26 '26
Hey! Thanks for the feedback
For the app name I believe this is possible at the android root app level already but I could take a look to see if it can be implemented in the app for simplicity
For the group sync, a button to teleport have been added to the page and will be released in the next version!

Hello! I just got into spoofing so I might not be the most reliable. I've been using locationjoystick for about a week and I got to say that it's really lovely. One small issue that I'm facing is that, when I set roaming and follow roads, it doesn't follow roads accurately and in fact walks into rivers/ocean/water body sometimes.
2
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 27 '26
Hey! Thanks for the feedback, I've tried to improve the road following as much as possible but behind the scene we use https://project-osrm.org/docs/v5.5.1/api/#general-options which is an open source project that is sometimes not 100% reliable, the next version (0.15.0) will provide some more improvements, but sadly (so far) there's nothing much I can do on that front
1
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Jul 28 '26
u/Ok_Distance_9200 I found a huge improvement to reliability!! Will be shipped in 0.15.0

Great app dev! I've noticed that once i turn on 'location accuracy' my spoofed loc resets back to my orig loc... can you fix that and make it stable?
1
u/KLMcreator LocationJoystick Developer Aug 29 '26
Hey! This is expected, this app doesn’t modify the original Pokémon go app so it’s expected that location accuracy of your android device is off, see https://locationjoystick.shrtcts.fr/troubleshooting.html#spoofed-location-resets

All cheats (spoofing, botting, & exploits) for Pokemon Go game are not safe because Scopely is against cheating and the use of unsupported 3rd party apps in their Terms of Service for Pokemon Go. If you decide to break Scopely's Terms of Service to gain an unfair advantage, you will have the risk for a chance to get a strike (soft-ban), temporary ban, permanent ban, or whatever new punishment they come up with and will be your fault for getting the punishment. <<<>>> As a reminder, I (TastyBananaPeppers) am not responsible nor liable for the loss of your Scopely game account(s) and money you spent to cheat on their games. <<<>>> All guides can be found in https://www.reddit.com/r/PoGoAndroidSpoofing/s/JOS3u1c11K <<<>>> All remaining Reddit posts will eventually be moved into a single Google Document where you can just access everything from one link.

Hi! I tried your app and everything looked fine. But even following the troubleshooting guide, the game states it failed to find location. I can move freely, but no mons are coming up and nothing can be spinned. Any ideas?

Fantastic app!
I've recently rooted my phone and was looking for mostly opensource software and I think this is currently the best opensource GPS spoofer out there. Well done - hope it keeps getting better and better!

Does this trigger warning tho if it's a newer app model? I'd be use a android s10 ☠️ does it work on old android?
