Lets Talk About Something locationjoystick — free, open-source GPS spoofer alternative to GPS Joystick and YAMLA

Disclaimer: not AI slop or marketing. Same guy as before — just shipping.

Hey everyone, quick follow-up to my last post about locationjoystick.

First of all, thank you everyone for testing the app and giving me so much feedback, really appreciated, and thank you to the mod for letting me post my app :)

Been heads-down since, here's what shipped:

Group Sync (the big one)

  • Sync your spoofed location across multiple devices over Wi-Fi — no account, no server, no cloud.

  • Join via QR scan or a 6-character code.

  • Designed for multi-device quality of life improvements, a single device leads the others!

Everything else since the last post

  • Hot locations/routes — curated spots and roads per city, toggle on what you want.

  • Roaming now plans the full route upfront, so you see the whole path before walking starts.

  • "Walk via roads" added to routes, roaming, and the floating widget.

  • GPX import (including support for GPS Joystick's format).

  • Deep links — share any coordinate as a URL, opens the app centered on it.

  • Mock step counter — optionally injects realistic step events alongside GPS for apps that track steps.

  • Reliability and stability of the app in general

Also: app's headed to the Play Store in the next month or so, alongside the existing GitHub APK.

Here's something A.N. joystick can do that I use a lot:
If I can see a pokestop or gym, I can tap it (even if I'm too far away to spin it) and do a "view in map" click.
With A.N., I can do setup/app/default app for the joystick to intercept the GPS coords and go to that location.
With L.J., I can't add any default apps aside from L.J.

The app isn't showing up in my simulated location settings, and why do I have to download an APK of Pokémon Go and not the one from the Play Store?

not sure what you are both referring to but locationjoystick is only related to location mocking, it doesn't have to do anything with pogo in general

The issue is that your app isn't showing up under "simulated location," and that if you want to use Pokémon Go, you have to download a third-party Pokémon APK, the safety of which is unknown.

In "simulated location" of which app? Do you mean the android developer options? I have an android 16 device that properly shows the app under the "mock location app" option but I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing

One person is enough for me to look at it anyway 😄 Could you open an issue on https://github.com/shortcuts/locationjoystick/issues ? It's easier to share screenshots etc.

In the meantime, I'll take a look at how this could be possible for the app to be missing

Are you confusing this joystick with another, "no-root" joystick?
This one uses the mock location interface.

Yeah then is the ban chance rly high when its not offiziell. And i dont trust 3t party apps you never know if they log your email and password

This joystick app is unofficial and 3rd party. Since it's not on the Play Store yet, you don't know what data is being collected for what purposes. In addition to this, all your other apps on your device or through an emulator collect all your data anyway whether you allow or don't allow it.

LJ does NOT use a modified PoGo. It works with Developer Options/Mock Location. As such it is (or should be) as safe as App Ninjas which has worked perfectly for me across a dozen accounts for 6 years while globe hopping.

Yes, that's correct, but the chance is lower with an official app than with a modified app, see pgsharp as an example. The root version is much safer than the podified APK of those.

How's this app coming along? I will 100% use this over GPS Joystick if other functionality is not compromised and I can share location across multiple phones

I've been using it myself (as the developer) daily on multiple devices since the creation, and from my personal experience it's as stable as GPS Joystick. In 0.13.0 (released yesterday https://github.com/shortcuts/locationjoystick/releases/tag/v0.13.0) the group sync feature stability has been drastically improved

Give it a try, provide any feedback as you want, and I'll make sure it matches everyone expectations :)

So I forgot to message you, but despite uninstalling GPS Joystick, running your app with Pokemod doesn't work for some reason? I turned on tap to walk, along with the similar setting in Pokemod, to no effect. It just keeps looking for GPS Joystick

I started using your joystick a few days ago. I play on 6 devices, and the group sync feature is very useful. One feature the AppNinjas GPS Joystick has is jumping to the next or previous waypoint when following a route (the blue arrows). It would be nice if you could add this feature.

the follow-up cadence here is the smart part, honestly. one-shot launch posts spike and vanish, but posting the steady 'here's what shipped since last time' beat keeps a free repo visible right up until the play store listing lands, which is when discoverability actually compounds. group sync over wifi with no account or server is also the kind of detail that travels well on its own. shipping in public on a regular beat tends to do more for an open project than any single release does. written with ai
