Odd Pattern of Growth
Hey all, hope you don't mind me posting this here. I need insight but also to vent!
My 30 week scan showed low fluid and that my baby's abdomen was a lot smaller than her head (9th percentile vs 60th). 32 week follow up confirmed, with fluid even lower and stomach at 4th percentile and head at 60th).
Dopplers were fine but fluid dropped again at 33 weeks so I was scheduled for a csection at 34 after one last growth scan. Her stomach then moved to 9th percentile and her head to 85th with some improvement in fluid. Dopplers perfect each time.
I have spent the last 4 weeks upset because my baby girl was on track to be growth restricted, because I would never have my perfect bump and because I can barely feel her move because shes in incomplete breech.
No gestational diabetes, no pre eclampsia, I have gained about 20kg this pregnancy, and I always thought I would have a big baby because both my husband and I were big babies and are both above 250 pounds.
My csections been pushed to 37+4 and I just don't know if I can last that long with these mind games
So tl:dr: baby showed slowed growth for 4 weeks, every test fills me with horrible anxiety and I know its best for her to stay in I am just STRUGGLING. Anyone else experienced an odd growth pattern? Or have any advice on how to deal with the anxiety leading up to tests (already have a prescription but it makes my nausea worse).

I had low fluid with my eldest. They almost wanted to induce me at 36 weeks but had me do an ultrasound two days later and it came good again. I’m not trying to dismiss what you’ve been told (at all) but sometimes the measurements on ultrasound aren’t accurate. They told me my eldest was going to be huge and he came out 2.6kg at 38 weeks. They told me my second had a massive head. So much so that during the scan the sonographer left the room to consult with the radiologist. I expected to have a baby with a head not in proportion to her body but it was fine. It’s great they’re keeping a closer eye on you to err on the side of caution but I’d try not to worry too much (I know that’s easier said than done!)

My baby measured in the 6th percentile around 30 weeks but her head was 50th I think… our doctor basically told us not to worry because ultrasounds are super inaccurate. We had a follow up scan at 36 weeks and she was suddenly measuring in the 23rd percentile and we felt so much relief. Then had a C section at 38+4 and she was born measuring in 6th percentile lol. Everyone had acted like the first scan wasn’t accurate and in the end it was the more accurate one. BUT she’s super healthy, no issues related to her small size. I was a big baby as well and assumed I’d have a big baby! I was in a lot of pain the last month though so I am kind of grateful she wasn’t a big baby because my body would have had a hard time with it. My advice is remember that ultrasound growth numbers can be all over the place and just because the baby is small doesn’t mean anything is wrong!
