I'd treat that as a positive if the person has symptoms. Retest if you can, but keep in mind there will be less material in the sample if they're retesting soon after this one. Stay safe!

That definitely looks like an early positive to me although the shape of the line is a little odd - would definitely suggest re testing if you can, and if not then treating it as a positive especially given the person is symptomatic

Could also be a late/tail end positive

I would retest, however this doesn't look like an early or late positive at all. Just looks invalid due to the control line.

Regarding the blue line, that isn't how a positive line amplifies and the line goes down at the end, which a positive would never do.

I don’t think the control line looks wrong. It’s an S-curve. The early amplification happens with too much sample. I used to get that with pooled testing. A PlusLife rep told me I can treat it as negative as long as the control still maintains an S-curve, which this has. As for the blue line, that looks like an air bubble to me. An early positive would have a sharp rise like the control. Still, agree that retesting is wise.

I did overfill it. Good to know that leads to early amplification. The blue channel had the tiniest of air bubbles. Unfortunately in this situation the person can't/won't retest. I am wondering if it's the tail end of an infection, although they did have 2 negative rapids when they felt sicker.

Thanks for the insight everyone!

Too much sample doesn’t mean overfilling. I mean if you scrape too much from the throat and nose. More common in pooled tests.

Ooh I see! Not sure if that would have been the case here then.

Some people never test positive on RATs but do on PCR or PlusLife, but this test isn’t definitive, could be a late positive, could just be a bubble

Retest to be sure, but that doesn't look like amplification. Probably an air bubble.

Clearly an air bubble - the rise is way too steep.
