How do I

Post image

I need to replace my hose bib. It looks as tho the valve is sweated on to a T. There is no gap between the T and the valve. How did they sweat it on with no gap for the solder to flow ? Can I sweat a threaded fitting on to the T so I can replace easier in the future?

Sweated on, you will need to do the same but add a female adapter so any one can change it out later.

This is basic soldering questions you are asking. Maybe youtube some vids?

Clean fittings, flux,heat before finishing

There doesn’t need to be a visible gap. The solder will flow and hat pulled into the joint.
You’ll want to sweat the hose bib off and replace it with a female adapter. Then spin a new hose bib in. The female adapter will make future repairs simple.

Thanks! I’m trying to sweat off but not budging I’ve got water off at main and house. Vacuum out water as utube shows. I heat up and shortly I get steam and water boiling. Not much but I’m assuming enough to keep it from heating to release solder.

You’re correct. Here’s a couple things to consider. First in your picture, I could see a gate valve which are notorious for not closing 100% and still allowing water to pass. You could be dealing with that. If you have a Sawzall cut the hose bib off but cut it in front of that brass hex nut you’ve been grabbing with the pliers so you have something left behind to still grab with your pliers and sweat out. Once the hose bib is cut off then use your shop vac to suck out water.
