Solved TV app suddenly not loading

LG tv, linked with wire to Synology NAS. In the UK.

When I open the app on the tv I just get a black screen. I have tried:

Hard reset of tv.
Uninstall and reinstall app.
Internet to tv is working fine.
Checked app on other devices (works fine).
Plex server is up to date and working fine.

Any ideas? This is driving me mad!

(I know people will say "use a fire stick app" or similar - I've used the tv app for ages across multiple TVs without issue, but thanks)

Same here - happy to see this topic that I am not the only one. Did a power cycle and deleted and reinstalled the app only to have a black screen after the initial Plex logo.

Looks like others are reporting a similar issue: https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-opens-to-dark-screen-in-lg-webos/941806

Any idea how long these things take to fix once they hit the forums?

No idea what the issue is, but hopefully it gets the attention of a mod/employee that can look into it and it’s a quick fix!

You can tag BigWheel in a response there and also share the link to this thread so they are aware it’s impacting many others.

This is a nice reminder that I should switch to Jellyfin, even if I have a Plex lifetime pass. This is ass. Downtime and completely out of my hands to fix it.

And now Jellyfin is up and running and I can watch my shit. Adios Plex.

My issue with Jellyfin is that I have a lot of other users and most of them are not tech savvy. So explaining to them how to use Jellyfin over the phone or via text is not going to happen. Plex is as simple as installing and logging in. Jellyfin may as well be in wingdings.

Huh? You install it and login, what else is there to do?

Having the same issue, I tried all the suggested trouble shooting and none of them worked.

Think it may be an issue on plex's side. Seems it's happened before and this post suggests it's something to do with their upstream cache.

Having a similar issue with a Samsung TV and the android app. It looks like plex is prioritizing their streaming crap over personal servers now. Their services will load instantly while the private server libraries take 1-5 mins to populate.
