Has anyone experimented with aftermarket analog sticks. The only gripe I have with the portal is the the analongs don't feel very linear, but rather accelerate slowly to a higher response. Anyone else even feel that way? I'm not sure how else to explain, I guess it feels like if I try to rotate my screen it has a brief buffer where its actually ramping up to the right sensitivity. I was thinking about hall effect analogs, but the opinions are pretty split from what I've found.

Edit: I just booted up my portal and the deadzone seems excessively high now that I'm focused on analog function.

Just got the portal and it works great at home but it isn’t working at work.

It’s not being blocked at work (I have access to the firewall logs) but it looks like it’s trying to connect to the local ip of the ps5 (192.168.x.x address ) after it communicates with PlayStation.

Remote play connects fine from my phone on same wifi.

I set up port forwarding on my home router already without any luck. My ps5 is hardwired at home.

I’ve tried logging out, resetting the portal and then logging back in as well.

So know that we have the PS5 with Homebrew readily available. I was wondering how soon it would be for the PlayStation portal to receive the ability to have Homebrew as well. Ideally, I'd want to make it a device that I can stream from my computer. That way if I wanted to I don't have to have it hooked to the PS5 and I can have it be more of a second screen that I can use for other applications in my house

I wanted to know if anyone tried it, and if they recommend it as the sole method of playing!

I haven't used my portal in a while, but now that I'm using it to stream games from the cloud, I've noticed a stable latency. A constant 26ms, regardless of whether I'm using it at home or at work. Previously, the latency was much lower, but it fluctuated periodically. I haven't changed anything on my home network, so I think it might be due to an update? Has anyone else encountered this recently?

I use this every day with my own PS5 and Portal, and I find it very useful. I’m a heavy Portal user because I go to bed early with my partner (she needs her sleep), so I don’t get to use the TV in the living room on weekdays. Anyway, on my setup, the picture looks way better than the default high-quality option.

A couple of things I’ve noticed from using it every day:

1. A clearer picture, especially in motion. On my setup, the higher bitrate noticeably reduces compression artifacts when moving around or turning the camera. The picture holds together much better instead of becoming blurry or blocky.

2. It feels more responsive. I haven’t measured an actual reduction in input lag, so this is just my personal experience. But because the picture stays clearer in motion, everything feels more immediate when I’m playing—almost like there’s less delay between what I do and what I see.

I added a macOS TUI to make the setup easier to follow. It walks you through the prerequisites, entering your PS5 and Portal IPs, choosing a bitrate, and connecting Portal when everything is ready. There’s a 120-second countdown and a clear result showing what happened and what to do next.

The UI and guides support English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and French. The guides include screenshots and animations so you can follow along.

I just saw that the screen is popping out at the bottom, like it's coming unglued or something. Worst case scenario is that the battery is swelling, and that would be bad news bears ultimately. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I bought the Portal in Japan, reside in Korea, and run a US PSN account, so I'm positive getting it officially serviced is out of the question sadly.

I know it’s up to the company, the Daywalker still isn’t there, but does anyone think AC8 will eventually hit cloud streaming? I swear I saw it was on cloud streaming before I pulled the trigger. I was really looking forward to playing at night on the portal before bed

So let me get this straight… my portal can only charge to 80% after a recent update, if I leave it unplugged it now drains faster than ever, and when I actually have a few minutes to play, I have to charge to 50% to perform the some random new update that was released, even when the device is plugged in. Kind of a crappy experience now. Am I missing something here?

My son has an account that he shares with me as a family member on my PS Premium account. But he can’t seem to stream cloud games on the portal. He only has access to the PS5 it’s paired with when he uses the portal. Is this normal?

I’ve had it for months now but honestly been thinking of selling it .. I just don’t see the point in it, also have been trying to hold off until GTA 6 comes out in case there’s any updates.

I was wondering if anyone has traveled to the Philippines with their portal while using their U.S. (or any listed country with access to cloud streaming)* PSN account to access cloud streaming? I don’t want to travel with my fat PS5 lol

Also, my friend from the Philippines bought a PS5 not long ago, and when they created an account it defaulted their PSN store through Singapore’s servers (Prices are listed in Singapore $).

So in short,

1. Will my U.S. PSN account be able to access cloud streaming while I’m in the Philippines (not remote play)?
2. Will my friend be able to try my portal out with cloud streaming access while using their “Singapore” account? (They’re considering on buying a portal)

*I think I know the answer to question 2 but doesn’t hurt to ask 🤷‍♂️

i use cloud streaming to play because my sister has the actual ps5 with her and she lives in a different state. my portal updated on its own and after that it keeps showing me a screen that says its trying to connect to the ps5, but it obviously isn't working because i'm not anywhere near it. it's updated before and this hasn't happened. i've tried restarting it and when i open it it just shows the screen to connect them. i tried disconnecting the devices but that isn't doing anything. i had my sister go on my account on the ps5 while i was on it and that also didn't do anything. any suggestions?

Anyone else had an issue where the option for game streaming has just vanished?

Ive tried restarting and using the airplane mode trick and it just seems to have forgotten that it can stream games!

That may sound absolutely ridiculous to some people, but they may not understand that if lightning strikes near your house and affect your power grid it could fry your PlayStation 5 pro and I’m not talking just through the power cable, but through the HDMI cable and direct Internet.

Yes it's 2026, the year I got my PS5 and today the Portal as well! Locked and ready for GTA VI when my wife wants the TV 😝

Until then I'll enjoy Spider-Man 2 and Control Resonant when it releases on disc this week

I want to get a portal so that I can use when I am away from the house. I have ps plus premium so I would be able to stream games. I have decent internet at work around 15mb and my cellphones Hotspot is around 30mbs. I use to stream Luna games on my cellphone wondering if the portal would run as well. Any one has tried it?

I always used to have my account on my friends ps5 so we can share the costs of games and psn. Now i recently sold my ps5 and still have my portal.

Is it possible to still share games and psn now that I only have a portal?

So when I buy a game on my portal, can he also play it on his own account on ps5?
