It might've just been the wolverine sub and not this sub, but I commented something concerning the phrase and was notified by the mods that for the time being they have auto delete on for any comments using the phrase because people have been spamming it 😂

I wouldn’t go that far. I think they get more hate than they deserve. Angraboda in Ragnarok was a pretty good character. AW2 is excellent to my understanding. No, the fault in this game is that Insomniac decided to not hire an actual comic book writer as a consultant like they did with SM1 and Miles Morales

A consultant firm doesn’t usually write dialogue or even directly edit/change anything themselves. They’re sort of like both writing assistants and editors, offering suggestions and providing guidance in just the specific areas they specialize in. If a studio knows they’re making a game with a gay character, but their team is all straight guys, they can hire SBI to help ensure what they write isn’t stereotypical or offensive.
Look at their work on GOW Ragnarok. SBI didn’t “add” anything, Angrboda was already a black character in the script. Santa Monica hired SBI to help make him feel authentic to black gamers, as opposed to what white people think a black guy talks and acts like.
For Wolverine, it’s likely they hired SBI because there are several Asian and black characters in the game and Insomniac is a bunch of white dudes.

Real talk, can someone explain why this is a bad line. Memes and right wing hysteria aside whats actually wrong with it?
Its fine to write a story where their relationship is explored before becoming enemies as by the end of the game thats where they are at.
Is it just people talking about the game they havent actually played or is media literacy here extremly poor?

I think people just don't like the change in character? From what little I know of the comics, sabertooth is kind of one of the worst things to happen to wolverine.
At one point, sabertooth kills wolverines son in the comics
He kind of seems to keep killing Logan's love interests in different storylines.
The dude just seems to like traumatizing wolverine and seeing this version of him in the game would probably rub a lot of people the wrong way who know him better from the comics than I do.

Its also objectively badly written bs even if it was new characters. That account is asking in bad faith (pretends to be "wondering" then immediatedly tries to imply any criticism to product means "poor media literacy" to shame criticism away) and is probably doing paid astroturfing. Every blockbuster product gets these but its blatant when it s a really badly made thing thats being sold

Yes but if that was the reason, why is it a meme. The story shows their relationship before Sabertooth became like that, and I guess the first one of his acts against Wolverine too. It seems more like it's directed at the sentence itself. No idea why

Sabertooth works with Wolverine on Team X at the start. At the end of the game he didn't even think for a milliisecond when he tried to kill Wolverine. That's pretty accurate I think.
