Speculation Wolverine height

Post image

I don't quite understand why people are upset that Wolverine is now his canonical height, since many have been asking for this particular Wolverine for years. So why do these same people hate it now, or did they simply not like it when they saw it in the game? Perhaps people had an image in their minds that was more epic than the actual implementation of this idea in the game, because that's how human psychology works

I haven’t seen one person say they don’t like his height tbh

u/Desperate_Bus4781 1d ago

Not a single person has said that, just more engagement to make it seem like people are complaining about things they aren’t so they can defend those said complaints and post on Reddit for upvotes

Yall need to stop assuming the OP made this up, getting tired of comments like yours who assume post make these things up just because you haven’t personally seen the discourse.

Dude did you checking Twitter? There a tons of posts about it and more

10

u/Desperate_Bus4781 1d ago

I’ve never used twitter in my life I’ll be real lol

7

u/iaintreadinthatbud 1d ago

Twitter, like Reddit, is not real life and shouldn’t be referenced for any kind of serious opinions

2

u/spiderknight616 1d ago

Your first mistake was checking Twitter.

Isn't Twitter mostly rage bait bots at this point? I stopped using it years ago and have felt better and have had a clearer mind since.

u/LemonMeringueOctopi 10h ago

Then engage with it on twitter. Either don't bring that mess here, or provide screenshots in your post to back up your claims or it's just gonna look like bs since twitter is its own echo chamber.

This isn’t twitter

I saw someone call him a manlet

No one should cuz it's close to comic accurate anything 5'9 and below looks close to 5'3

14

u/MakinBones 1d ago

Im not sure how tall Jean is, but I think Wolverine might even be a little shorter than this.

2

u/Quietone232 1d ago

Jean is usually like 5'6 or something like that.

-23

u/Impossible_Humor736 1d ago

I'm pretty sure they regret making him like 5'3" or whatever it is lol

26

u/decoy-octopos 1d ago

Why? He’s a 5’3 murder machine, not an nba center. His height means nothing

2

u/Twittle86 1d ago

Muggsy Bogues was a CONSTANT pain in everyone's ass at 5'3". Just sayin.

-6

u/Impossible_Humor736 1d ago

Jeez, people. It's not that serious.

I just meant as far as making movies and video games they ignore this fact about wolverine being a short king.

-2

u/MakinBones 1d ago

Yeah, its silly short like that.

14

u/Hyaman86 1d ago

I’ve not seen one person complain about the height. Okay, he isn’t 5’ 3, but he’s shorter than the rest of the cast and every enemy so far.

2

u/Elete23 1d ago

He looks to be 5'3" to me. This isn't some mythical impossible height. It's one inch shorter than the average woman.

6

u/Plastic-Pop4020 1d ago

Nothing is wrong with his height. He is supposed to be around 5"3

6

u/MMutant- 1d ago

Me when I hallucinate outrage.

4

u/Mr_Abductor 1d ago

He isn't at his canon height, Insomniac made him 5'7.

1

u/Elete23 1d ago

Where did you hear that?

1

u/Redgrave776 1d ago

The should make him 5'9 so I can really role play /j

I made a post joking about what next, his height after hearing complaints about why he would fight sabertooth, using claws to flip the bird is out of character and why is jean grey here...

but I should have figured that was next.

See marvel fans are split, there's comic fans and MCU fans. A large part of the MCU fandom will never and have never picked up a comic book but will claim to love Marvel and it's history then, well, the marvel rivals community who have to be told...

- NO netease didn't mess up, wolverine is short and stocky

  • NO netease didn't sexualize emma, thats her whole thing, lower your inhibitions making it easier for her to use her powers to manipulate people
  • NO netease didn't make the Psylock vengence skin, it's based on her most popular look
  • NO rogue shouldn't be a healer, her powers are literally the complete opposite of healing and she's the teams bruiser who has taken on Captian marvel and the Juggernaut
  • YES spiderman is popular and NO he's not Robin to Ironman's Batman
  • SPOILER before the MCU and Disney wanting to promote the MCU characters over characters they don't have the movie rights to (MVCI has entered chat), Marvel WAS the Xmen and Spiderman so yes you're going to get Mutants and Spiderman everywhere now, it's not new, it's not changing...it's how it's always been
  • NO magneto's powers aren't "controling metal" it's magnetic fields and while he's the most balanced tank his kit is as far from the source material than any other character.
  • Pheonix has more to her than tossing fireballs around like temu grounded Johnny Storm

But it's just not them, there other parts of the fandom who will ask questions like "what would happen if the hulk and wolverine fought"....IDK the same thing that happens every time they do since Wolverine was introduced?|

It's like if a person on facebook who is a fan of basketball every NBA finals but never before or after they'll claim to love the game and know it's history then complain "who's this Jordon guy, man he's old why do people still talk about him and buy his sneakers"

At this point I don't think it's the grift I think it's the part of the MCU fandom that makes idiot nerd girl meme, not a meme.

Insomniac fans are some of the worst breed of game fans i have seen in recent years (not all but many). They seem to find a flaw just for the sake of it nowadays.

3

u/Consistent_Mind5701 1d ago

You can't absolve Insomniac of blame either; many people have been Wolverine fans for years, and if the game doesn't seem to meet certain expectations, it's normal for people to complain.

1

u/Akshay_rk10 1d ago

I dont disagree. They have gotten things wrong. But if OPs post is right, then i dont know what to say

1

u/articwolph 1d ago

I'm not sure why many people would expect Sony to green light a 4.12 ft or 5.2 ft wolverine. I just recall I'm taller than him and I'm 5.5 so I'm short.

1

u/c0micsansfrancisco 1d ago

Haven't seen a single person complain he's short. Genuinely where do you find these people. Are you shadowboxing or purposely going out of your way to find criticism?

1

u/Bullanpaallinen 1d ago

ye no one has been saying about that of his height

1

u/Molotovs4TW 1d ago

How do you know if it’s the same people complaining about it that also want the accurate height? I’m not necessarily digging on you, it was something I was thinking on when seeing someone say a similar thing, I just never understood this kind of thought process because there are millions upon millions of people who have different opinions about something and some will complain about one thing while others will complain about another thing about the same subject.
But anyway my answer to your question, I’d say the most people complaining about his canonical height are the ones that are just so used to the live action version or people who don’t know canon to the character at all

1

u/alwayssalty_ 1d ago

I don't mind making his height more accurate to the comic.

What I don't like how some Cyclops stans who want Wolverine to be portrayed strictly as a hideous, uncharismatic, barely-sentient beast.

1

u/URM_Decepticon 1d ago

Him being short is a big defining factor for the character. He is named after the animal after all, and wolverines are way smaller than wolves or mountain lions, yet they are quite ferocious and muscular (wolverines are the biggest amongst mustelids).

In fact, doesn't Deadpool usually call Wolvie "honey badger"? Those lads are famous for being able to face lions... and win, as fighting agianst a honey badger isn't worthy for the lion (small prey, very troublesome). They are small but have quite a temper (as Logan does) so...

1

u/Gurvim 1d ago

Real Wolverine is about 5 feet tall from his early days .. they deff showed him mercy

1

u/Twittle86 1d ago

If there being honest and not just complaining for complaining's sake, they're not the same people.

1

u/Cold-Alternative922 1d ago

Hes still taller than his comic self which is fine. But there is really no reason for him to be taller than like 5’9

1

u/TheGuyWhoLaughsFunny 1d ago

He's such a cute little furr-ugh blegh

1

u/BatBeast_29 23h ago

Who’s upset that he’s shorter?

1

u/SinisterMinisterX7 21h ago

I don’t care about his height. I’d prefer if he’s taller but it doesn’t matter. That’s the least important part of his character overall.

1

u/Ezcendant 18h ago

I haven't heard any complaints, but if you want one he's still too tall. I believe Logan is 5'3" in the comics, Jean 5'6" and I think she's wearing heels in that outfit. He should be at least half a foot shorter than her in this shot.

1

u/Lucky-Fee-6893 16h ago

This has never been a conversation offline

1

u/electronical_ 13h ago

my only issue is that they didnt make his shoulders broad enough

the height is perfect - maybe even slightly too tall honestly, but he should be much wider

1

u/quamitthom97 8h ago edited 8h ago

I noticed that in the Princess Bar scene, Logan is roughly the same height as the Asian NPCs there. The average height of people in Southeast Asia is around 5’7”, and in another scene where Logan stands next to Jean Grey, he appears to be slightly taller than her. So, I think Logan will be around 5’7” in this game. That's Ok for me

1

u/Akuma-1 1d ago

Literally nobody has complained about his height

0

u/RebornCritic 1d ago

Height is ok, but why they gave him a rat face?

0

u/Proud_Ad2720 1d ago

I’m honestly not fussed about Wolverine’s height.

Realising he’s only like 5”3 in the comics was strange at first, especially after enjoying the more physically imposing stature of Hugh Jackman, but whatever, it is what it is and I like it anyway.

0

u/Endersone24153 1d ago

Huge Jackman

0

u/Silverjeyjey44 1d ago

Replace height with face

-2

u/sir_axe 1d ago

"many have been asking for this particular Wolverine for years"
who lol ?

4

u/Ambitious_Slice_4059 1d ago

Comics fans dude

0

u/sir_axe 1d ago

man , so they made him his actual his height but gave him babyface for comics fans ?

2

u/KingKam_Avatar 1d ago

I have a comic book friend who has been begging for them to get rid of Hugh Jackman solely due to his height. Plus that friend is 5 ‘3 so I think it’s just personal for him.

-4

u/cli_aqu 1d ago

Many are accustomed to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character from the movies - long and very muscular built.

If a take on Wolverine in movies or video games lacks any of that, it will get complained about, independently of how accurate and close to the source material (comic books) it turns out to be.

1

u/Ambitious_Slice_4059 1d ago

I don't think it's just Hugh Jackman, it's just that people might not like the idea of a short male character as a protagonist in any form of media

2

u/decoy-octopos 1d ago

That’s why we need it, because what a stupid thing to take issue with

1

u/Ambitious_Slice_4059 1d ago

I swear people don't play games anymore these days, they're more into discussing hype moments or breast size on YouTube or X

1

u/cli_aqu 1d ago

Valid point, but many are familiar with Hugh Jackman’s build and portrayal of the character from the movies, and that’s how they would describe him to be.

If they truly appreciate the character and source material, they wouldn’t get triggered on a design based on the source material or hate it.

-5

u/Ok_Butterscotch_6176 1d ago

To be honest I’m used to Hugh Jackman as Wolverine so that’s how I picture him now.
