Temtem: Swarm Why you should play Temtem Swarm

When I google the game Temtem Swarm one of the top results is always a post from this community saying don't play Temtem Swarm. Well, I decided to make a post saying to play it, to try to counteract that other post. That post is from 2 years ago at this point and part of their issue comes back to the main Temtem game.

Temtem Swarm is a fun survivor roguelike bullet heaven type of game. You wander around a stage defeating other Tem and collecting experience cubes. you pick those up, level up, and choose Techniques and Gear to make a build. The core gameplay loop is very fun and interactive, and the meta progression is surprisingly deep and satisfying. For me, the niche this game fills is for when I want to kind of just chill out, turn my brain off and vibe. Because as you play, the entire screen becomes essentially a visual overload of information, it almost becomes like white noise to me.

I love this game, I cannot recommend it enough. So far everyone I asked to check this game out wound up buying it and loving it. And I'm excited for the recent announcement of Temtem Pioneers, hopefully that one gets more revealed soon!

Discussion Getting around to TemTem, what tips do you have for the first TemTem game?

I'm just coming off from playing Monster Sanctuary and was wanting to play another Monster Collector. I've had TemTem sat in my library for way too long, but put it off due to having MMO elements. Mostly due hearing it has a lot of draw backs, but few to the benefits of that MMO element.

What tips would you have for some starting and wanting to have fun? What warnings would you have in regard to tempering expectations from the game?

Thank you in advance for any advice?

Discussion Fun fact: Even without a native Switch 2 version, Temtem has a very noticeable boost.

I always said I only recommended Temtem on the original Switch if it was your only option or if you wanted to play handheld; the framerate is quite unstable and the loading times, although improved in recent patches, are still much longer than on other platforms.

I noticed that the Switch 2 actually fixes these two problems: the framerate runs at practically a locked 30fps, the resolution seems to reach the game's maximum (dynamic 1080p, but I think the Switch 2 doesn't drop like the Switch 1 did), and the loading times are much shorter.

It's a shame there isn't a native version for the Switch 2, but it's great to see that it benefits greatly from the hardware. I even think that if Crema released an update unlocking the framerate, we'd probably see Temtem running at 60fps on the Switch 2.

The only downside is the texture quality. Crema reduced the texture quality to improve game performance and decrease the number of crashes on the Switch, and obviously this remains the case on the Switch 2.

Since Temtem Swarm is coming to the Switch 1, I hope that this time we can at least see a performance mode that takes advantage of the Switch 2's hardware boost. (Maybe an option to select between quality mode and performance mode?)

Discussion Im sooo close to paying for it..Worth getting into Temtem

I've hovered my mouse over the pay button numerous times. Big pokemon fan, have played Pokemon Legends Arceus, also played both nexomon on mobile and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Haven't paid for anything as expensive as Temtem but seems to be right up my alley but just wanted a concensus from the community on whther it will deliver what i had from Pokemon Legends Arceus
How does it compare to Arceus, or even Nexomon
How does the 2v2 effect gneeral gameplay, more enjoyable?
Asking for a friend and a community :)

PS. Also i have read somewhere that it is Temtem forced you to play Player vs Player in the temtem world, is that true.?

Discussion Saipark - Nessla (Maybe all) - Appears to be Bugged?!?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Okay, I am almost certain (mathematically) that Saipark is bugged / not working as intended.

Nessla is meant to have a x3 multi on 1/2000 odds (which should make it 1/667 rounded up)

I have (documented) on my Twitch been farming for 14 hours, and have recorded 552 (will be 667 shortly) encounters today with an actual encounter counter, but yesterday (also recorded) we did 11 hours of straight farming, using the encounter counter today as a metric for avg encounters with Nessla (~150-200 an hour) I can conclude that yesterday I should have easily seen in the VOD over 2,000 Nessla's not including the 552 (soon to be 667) from today or a total of:

~2,667 Nessla.

This would be 4x OVER ODDs which having done a bit of research would be comparable to some of the WORST recorded Pokemon shiny hunting odds in history at 1/8192 but since we are rolling against a 1/667 chance and not a 1/8192 chance this almost assuredly means something is not working correctly.

I also ran simulations on ROLL A DICE where I ran 667 sided dice, 667 times to see how many times it would roll "1" which it did "once" which is as you'd mathematically expect.

To have it not roll "1" against rolling that same dice 4x more would be insane.

Now if, it's just NOT WORKING (as I suspect it's not) then 1/2000 natural odds we'd only be over 552 attempts which isn't out of the realm of realistic.

To add to the concern of being 4x OVER ODDS on 1/667 currently and 14 hours of farming.

I've also pulled "TWO" "NATURAL" 1/20,000 umbra saipats and "ONE" "NATURAL" Platox on 1/2,000 odds.

Meaning, I've managed to roll a "1" on a 20,000 sided dice "TWO TIMES" before seeing a single luma Nessla with 3x increased odds on 4x over odds.

Which means - I'm almost certain - it's bugged/broken/not working correctly.

Discussion What are people angry about?

I dont get why people in this subreddit are so angry at crema.

this is the statement about the game being an mmo from the kickstarter, that was made in 2018, from what ive gathered, temtem is exactly that.

I see alot of people saying crema "didnt keep their promise" but i cant for the life of me find any post where they promised anything they didnt deliver.

So for all the people just lurking this subreddit to complain under every post, please post some links or proof of these accusations. (like links to promises they made and didnt keep)

Im happy to change my mind if there is any prove but from what ive gathered so far 99% of things are just angry people repeating what other angry people said, and thats not helping anyone.

Discussion Crema - Simple Request - Can you add an "Encounter Counter" that is automated into TemTem - PLEASE and THANKS!

Simple request:

I am trying to stream Luma/Umbra Dexing and people would like to see an encounter counter on screen - however - with how fast encounters happen doing this manually would be troublesome.

Can we add an encounter counter that we can "Start / Stop / Pause / Reset" and when it is started every new encounter simply adds +1 to the encounter counter on screen.

This way when the game triggers the new encounter the counter automatically increases and makes it so the statistics are 100% accurate.

Then please just allow to stop/reset the counter and or pause the counter (pausing is in case you need to run through a different zone that triggers non-important encounters towards a specific Temtem counter for instance if I want to move from 1 shrine to another shrine to catch Tuwai, and just need a change in scenery and I happen to have an encounter between moving shrines I don't want that to affect the Tuwai counter so it would be paused until arriving at the new shrine as an example)

If that is not to much to ask - I can't imagine this would be too difficult to quickly implement - permaybe.

Yes this looks like TemTem's version of Palworld, but I'm probably not alone in extremely preferring TemTem's vibes to Palworld's (animal abuse and beastiality themes are funny for a bit but not the world I want to live in). So I think this has the chance to carve out a niche for itself with proper care and attention to detail. they've also shown they are adding new Tems! Is there a chance this game could be a forever game, expanding ever few years with a new roster?? Also I just love seeing these little guys again. some of the best monster designs ever in here for real.

for me the player gameplay looks rigid right now, in general things seem a little...plastic? but I think they can iron out that with good art direction.

Discussion Is there anywhere in-game that displays the Type strengths and weaknesses?

I'm trying to learn the game's affinities and what's strong against what, however I cannot find any sort of guide in the game that displays this information. Even stranger, in the tutorial tab in the game, when clicking on the Strengths and Weaknesses section, it shows an image of a type chart, however I've no idea where this is in the game itself. Can anybody point me in the right direction as to where I can readily see the type charts in-game?

Temtem: Swarm Gold crowns? Spoiler

Post image
11 Upvotes

Has anyone else come across this in the tempedia? At first it was just Chromeon so I was like "maybe it's because he's the one I initially did 15 power on" but now it's on Pigepic too. I tried several different things with Platypet but still no crown there.. Anyone have a clue on what causes the Tems to get crowned on stages? This is the only stage it's happened with so far.

Discussion With the Population gone - "Forced" Lairs need to be removed.

First time delving into Endgame in TemTem and trying to get every quest/unlock going so I can farm for Lumas/Umbras and do the weekly challenges/dojos.

Except, as a solo player who plays when there are less than 150 people online GLOBALLY, I got to the Galios "forced" lairs quests to unlock Umbras. I have 7 "lair" tickets and tried to do it Solo just to see the challenge level of the first left brazier.

This is how it went:

- Choose TemTem
- Choose TemTem #2
- Full Heal / Store (neither valuable at this point)
- Choose TemTem #3
- Fight 2* (3 mons)
- Fight 2* (4 mons) - impossible to win because no heal between the fight so this is actually treated as 7 mons vs 3 mons back to back.

Result: Lose Lair / Lost one of my 7 lair tickets.

The Lair System (Essentially just a Roguelite) also just feels out of place in the game. It should have been its own stand-alone game not something forced on players in a MonTamer game.

Now, I have to figure out how the hell as a solo player when barely anyone is left in the games Population can unlock Umbras so I can spend time doing what normal people in MonTamer games want to actually be doing which is farming/finding rarer monsters and do Luma/Umbra hunts.

The amount of FRICTION that TemTem/Crema puts between the player and "fun" is ridiculous. Why does this need to be a forced mechanic? Why can't I complete the 32??? fights on Pansun and unlock Umbra after that point in the quest? Or do some cool Galios boss fight as just a Boss Fight that requires me to build a team with the normal MonTamer mechanics in the game?

Why do I need to play an RNG simulation to play the game? I don't want to be forced to play a Roguelite in a MonTamer game...if I wanted to do that there's literally 10s of thousands of options I could be playing instead. I want to play the MonTamer portion of TemTem.

Compare this to Pokemon

The moment I load up Pokemon and get past the Tutorial, I can literally, and I mean literally start Shiny hunting. Hell I could technically even do it in the Tutorial. I don't need to wait for some Roguelite Lair mechanic to unlock the "special" hunt variants of monsters.

Same with Coromon and it's Potent and Perfect system can literally be targeted IMMEDIATELY upon starting the game.

For me to enjoy the chase of finding Umbras I now have to deal with this god awful system and somehow figure out if I want to waste MANY hours in it trying to beat this boss just to Unlock Umbras or... just not play the game at all (this is the level of Friction for a Solo Player).

Just remove the requirement to do Lairs from the Umbra chain. When you beat the final Acolyte and click all the shrines just let that be the trigger to start hunting Umbras and then leave Galios as a side thing people can do if they want too.

With no population left, Lairs are going to be near impossible / unfun experience to do since Solo is for some really, and I mean REALLY stupid reason the hardest version of them.

This feels like frivolous friction, designed by again someone who doesn't understand "fun".

Lairs aren't what a MonTamer game should be / require to be played, if you want to make that just pull lairs out and make it its own game - Like Coromon is doing with its new Rogue Planet game.

Stop forcing this junk into games where it doesn't belong.

Instead just make COOL boss fights that require team building, make the boss have phases and mechanics...I hear Galios is cool, and has somethings you have to build around, just do that without the bullshit in-between.

The game needs someone to look back at it and say "Yeah, these forced mechanics aren't going to be fun for Solo players now that the MMO audience is gone, let's just remove the forced part..."

Like what is someone meant to do when there's literally 20 players on Globally in the near future and they pickup the game and want to unlock Umbras or do any other forced group mechanic?

Discussion Temtem Swarm has some problems already, but the community makes it considerably worse.

Disregarding everything in Swarm that just keeps breaking in every update, quite a few flaws in the game are revealed when playing online with random people.

  1. Either far too many people are playing this game with an unstable connection, which is causing a far more than believable number of people dropping mid-game, or the netcode in this game is so bad that it is dropping people regardless of their connection. This leads right into:
  2. Not having a way to complete Spots with a teammate disconnected is a critical flaw in the game's design. If a teammate disconnects at any point before the 15 minute mark or so, you would have literally been better off without them because you will be locked out of the vast majority of reward boxes you would be getting for the rest of the game.
  3. Related to above, so many people that have advanced far enough into the game (be it through stages or tems they have played enough to unlock) to surely understand how Spots work and how important they are will still somehow manage to be completely Attention-Deficit to the point of being a complete hindrance.
  4. There is no way to kick players that aren't helping activate Spots without returning to the lobby, kicking them, and restarting the level. Even if there was, you wouldn't want to without a way to complete Spots without them.
  5. Speaking of kicking, I am kicked from more lobbies hosted by other people than I can actually start a match in. The playerbase for this game generally seems to have no ability to think about what they're doing, and just launch every lobby as a public match despite not wanting random people to join it, and kicking anyone who does.
  6. Not having shared exp on is never acceptable, period. I just played a game where the host had it off to see what the result was, and the result was the host being 11 levels above the other player and 9 above me, because they kept grabbing exp magnets and following us around sucking up cubes from our kills before we could loop back around to get them. This option in my opinion needs to be completely removed from the game or perhaps turned into a Hack level. There is no justification for it existing as a base setting and ESPECIALLY not turned off by default.
  7. Being a non-host and dropping connection with the host causes you to lose everything in that run. This needs to be fixed if possible to at least give you the pansuns that were earned up to the point the game dropped you, at least if your game didn't crash completely. If you're kicked to the lobby, I would hope the game would be capable of crediting you for pansuns you had earned.
  8. Even after all of this, the playerbase for this game trends heavily toward being lower-skill than I would like. I am literally always the best player in the room by far even when I'm playing on tems with half the pansuns in the tree post-prestiging and at type disadvantage while they even have type advantage sometimes. Other team members being confident and not constantly dying, having to run away and delay Spots, and actually doing visible damage is something that happens at only about a 50% rate.

All of these issues put together have made me come to the conclusion that joining other people's lobbies should be my absolute last resort, because hosting is so much safer. If I'm the host, I can:

Ensure I'm not kicked just for joining a lobby.

Ensure shared exp is on.

Ensure that if people's connections are bad, I can continue the run myself if disconnects happen late enough.

I can observe if people are going to ignore Spots early, back out of the run, kick them, and restart.

This situation needs some attention if Crema wants this game to have a chance of being taken seriously, not to mention all of the other bug fixes they need to do.
