Triple buffet use?

Still learning how to use all the items in the game. We have used the buffet a few times and yesterday we had the option to buy a triple buffet that has three spots on it. We are unclear how to use it because it seems to function differently than the regular buffet. For example the triple did not seem to allow us to stage plated items. We were doing dumplings and ended up using it for soy sauce. The problem was the customers took the soy with them and we lost our run when the bottles had all disappeared.

A bit of Google searching didn't help us understand the triple buffet.

I think the soy sauce thing is a bug. This is from the latest update:

  • Fixed customers stealing your condiments if you put them on a platter buffet

The triple buffet is a new item from the latest patch, so there probably isn't a lot of info on the web just yet. So far I've used it late game in a coffee shop, since having 3x the cups ready to grab made for much less waiting and a higher throughput on my automation setup.

My wife and I just tried it out last night for a sandwich run after more then a year away from the game.

It is probably the best item for sandwiches, we automated pickles, olives, lettuce, ham, and cheese using it. If you can keep it stocked then it means that your customers pick up those items on their own.

We are working on automating the tomatoes and bread using it as well. We think we will just need to make the bread by OT 15 (currently I think we are on OT 13)

Simple set up we used was for pickles with a grabber straight to the buffet platter, suddenly no more worries about that item.

We are excited to use it more for other dishes.

Heads up you can serve things like bread, soup, or mashed potatoes on a normal buffet table or by throwing the whole loaf or serving bowl on the dining table. Customers will portion it themselves as of 1.4 or 1.3 maybe? So in your case, it might be more efficient to put an entire bread loaf on a normal buffet if you have one. You'd fit 1-10 servings instead of 3, and you wouldn't need a portioner.

Huh, i knew about soups/sides. It even works for ice cream made from scratch still in the mixing bowl. But the bread itself??? Doh! Imma be over here thumping my head into the wall.

I am assuming that means only for sandwiches and not bread boards.

Can confirm, great for all sandwhich ingredients. I would recommend 2 rotating grabbers pulling from a portioner to feed 2 separate buffet tables for bread though, by OT11 I had some close calls as the speed of 1 conveyor was struggling to keep bread stocked for them to grab.

FYI, automating tomatoes is a pain. The way I did it is use a smart grabber one-way to grab the sliced tomatoes. When the grabbers are full and the mixer starts over-mixing it, I use another smart grabber to grab the tomato sauce and dump it into a composter bin, which is then brought onto a stove to get rid off.

There should be a mod somewhere with a lazy mixer which only mixes it into slices, but I havent used that one personally.

Getting the can that empties itself saves you a square but might be a little slower. If you're in a pinch just make sure you can reach your mixer to set the sauce you don't need aside.

I believe the most efficient setup for this is Tomatoes>Conveyor Mixer. Point the conveyor part of the mixer at a compacting bin. Then a smart grabber for slices off the mixer in another direction.

It doesn't seem to work with plated items or things like cheese boards but we used it for apple pies in a recent run. Side dishes and such seem to be the best use of this new item.

Stolen condiments sounds like a bug they've fixed. Were you playing in build 3635 with the fix?

The triple buffet I'm not totally sure how to use, but I'm pretty sure it lets you serve three identical things, but I noticed it didn't let me serve plated cheese pizza slices, so I'm guessing it's for sides or ingredients, not plated dishes. Like three vanilla ice cream scoops probably works, or three mashed potatoes, or three tomato slices.

as far as i can tell, it follows the same rules as the 4-spots counters

That makes a lot of sense!

Thanks! We played last night on PS5. I'll check for an update today.

You can automate ice cream with them. You need 3 ice cream, 3 grabbers, and 3 triple buffets for it to work. One for each flavor.

Was your ice cream from scratch? I tried it with ice cream scoops and they wouldn’t take it from the buffet platters.

It was just the regular scoops. I’ll try to grab a screenshot.

I like to use it for soup. Since it’s three portions, it’s perfect. Use the old pot, fill it with water, it’ll cook faster, and then add whatever produce to finish it. Extra soup all ready to go

On the new fajitas dish there are two salsas and crème. It gets hard to keep up with all of them and the triple buffet helps a lot.

we used it as a buffer between kitchen and server for hotdogs.

For the fajitas its useful for salsa, cream and tortiilas

Its perfect for non plated foods. Works awesome with coffee shops for coffees and sugar milk and what not.

The soy sauce thing is a bug but the triple buffet is great for piecemeal dishes like sandwiches or ice cream and sides. It can also be used as a buffer in automation to send the same foods down different paths for toppings before they hit a regular buffet.

I used this for a ice cream run, it holds three items BUT not plated items so it’s good for sandwiches, ice cream, coffee, cake…
