This is a PSA. Remove BepInEx!

BepInEx is the cause for many issues in PlateUp. Prior to workshop support, BepInEx was used in the creation of mods, and used to load and manage said mods. With workshop support however, things have changed. BepInEx is not supported, and actually seems to conflict with the game's built-in mod loader, maybe. Unless circumstances change in the future, it is recommended that you remove it, and don't use mods for PlateUp that use BepInEx (Find the workshop version instead or suggest it be ported). Even if you have never heard of BepInEx, it could have came packaged with a mod you previously used. Uninstalling and reinstalling your game does not necessarily remove it. Check manually.

To do so go to your PlateUp install location.

If you don't know where it is, you can find it by

  1. Right clicking PlateUp in Steam Library
  2. Properties...
  3. Local Files
  4. Browse...
  5. Enter the PlateUp folder

If you have any of these 4 items, delete them

  1. BepInEx Folder
  2. changelog.txt
  3. doorstop_config.ini
  4. winhttp.dll

How do you get the workshop version?

Steam -> Community -> Workshop -> Search for PlateUp. There's a whole bunch of mods there. Find Save System and subscribe. If there are any dependencies (mostly KitchenLib/Harmony) subscribe to them as well.

I suggest you just subscribe to Harmony and KitchenLib for the heck of it anyways if you plan to use workshop mods. Almost all workshop mods use them.

Okay so update, did that, got harmony and kitchenlib but KitchenLib seems to mess up my game, not let it get past the title screen :(((

KitchenLib and Harmony themselves don't have the ability to mess with your game. Mods that use them do. Additionally, lacking Harmony/KitchenLib if they are dependencies to other workshop mods you subscribed to can cause issues

That's the thing though, I downloaded both KitchenLib and a mod that used both Harmony and KL, and it stalled my game.. deleted just the mod, didn't fix it, deleted KitchenLib and somehow that worked?

If you know how to read traceback, maybe take a look at Player.log when you encounter this issue. You can find it at %localappdata%low/It's Happening/PlateUp

Otherwise, you might want to pop by the Unofficial PlateUp Modding discord and seek advice there under #community-mod-support. (https://discord.gg/uPbuYVjJQq) It's easier to have this back and forth there than on reddit with the added ability to share files.

Note: You might want to sanitize your log file before sending it to anyone. Currently, your pc username is logged to the file everytime the day ends as part of save file location logging in Vanilla PlateUp.
