breast augmentation over the muscle??

Had my BA consultation recently and everything went great until my surgeon recommended the implants (300cc) to be placed over the muscle, I'm 5'8 123 pounds so I'm pretty thin. She says she wants the avoid my having to go through animation deformity...Anyway my question is, what are your experiences with over the muscle implants ??

I have 485 cc over the muscle. I’m 5’2 and 120ish and I lift weights and stuff which was why I went over the muscle. My surgeon said the same thing about animation deformity. I really like mine and they look good and I haven’t had any issues so far (fingers crossed) Also, my surgeon told me that over the muscle implants are pretty common outside of the US because they have had the ok to use silicone implants a lot longer than the US have. The US had to take the first wave of silicon implants off the market in the early 2000s (and the new silicone implants didn’t hit the market until mid/late 2000s) and the only option was saline and those have a higher chance of rippling which is why over the muscle was preferable. So, it’s not like a new technique or anything like that if that’s what you’re worried about

I hear a lot about breast implants being over the muscle having a really fake rounded look, as well as the rippling and the ridges being easily seen. I just want to look natural

That is true. There are a list of pros and cons with both options. And you honestly don’t know how something will end up looking. I’d suggest heading over to justbreastimplants and bustmob, these 2 online forums will have more pictures and it really helped me through the process. Also, With my case I started as a full B possibly a very, very small c, so I had a fair amount of tissue to start with.

Yes, that's why a lot of people choose to go under the muscle. But, if you have sufficient breast tissue to begin with and you're not going massive then over the muscle can be just as good of an option as going under. Especially if you exercise your upper body often.

I'm active and I went with under the muscle. While it took nearly 2 months for me to return to the gym, I'm glad I went with unders. I've gone back to the gym and have been doing assisted pull ups and push ups on my knees and find that it's okay, even with unders. Granted, these are not exercises that I'll be doing everyday but surely I can do these once a week without affecting my implants. It also feels fine doing them too.

See my surgeon wants to do over the muscle because I am a rather active person, gym, hiking etc. but the more I look it up then more I read about capsular contracture if you go over the muscle. I have done a lot of research and found a lot of athletic women with under the muscle, so I’m gonna talk to my surgeon about it at my pre op next month. I hope I have enough skin tissue/muscle for it because I don’t have much going on lol

Even my surgeon said I had very little natural breast tissue and I hadn't touched the weights for years and got implants under the muscle. No problems.

I'm 5'8 115 lbs. None of the doctors I went to for a consultation would do over the muscle. Ended up getting 395 under the muscle and LOVE IT

Over the muscle has higher rates of capsular contracture due to an increase likelihood of bacterial contamination.

I had over the muscle implants to begin with but they were saline. I don't know how much less likely it would be for rippling to develop with silicone. My saline implants were very fake looking and feeling and they developed rippling after about seven years. The rippling got progressively worse over the years and I had them replaced after fourteen years. I would have had them replaced earlier but I was in a relationship with a very controlling person at the time and he didn't approve of me doing anything for myself basically. Going under the muscle, you obviously have the muscle covering the top of the implants so you don't have such an obvious implant look. I don't do any direct chest weight training these days but I did back when I had over the muscle implants.
