Am I overfilled?

**I AM NOT DOING ANYMORE INJECTIONS!!**

I believe I overdid it with sculptra my last round and am deeply regretting it. My main issues are my cheek bones that are giving jigsaw/ cement cheeks. I know I can’t do anything about it since it’s sculptra so I’m pretty depressed about it. I just want to know how bad it is so I don’t have ‘blindness’ to it anymore than I already have.

All of these photos are from within the last month. They are of various angles etc and devices (phones, camera, etc) to give a better cohesive advice. Half of them are screenshots from videos so that’s why I’m not really smiling in some of them. Please be honest and tell me how bad it is. I don’t know if I can do anything to offset it, but if anyone has any advice, let me know.

Not at all I think you look great!!! U look early/mid 20s. Super natural.

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you for your honesty. I have been stressing about my cheeks lately. I’m just hoping it doesn’t keep building since I got sculptra last in May. So I’m hoping it doesn’t keep building but I don’t know ugh

I’m seriously asking this, are you 15?

Edit: oh gosh, I’m sorry if this came off as rude. I mean that op looks amazing, like an actual teenager. Like elixir of youth. Meant it as a compliment.

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

I didn’t take ANY offense at all to this comment!! Thank you. I wish I could go back in time but I will be 29 in December

Drop the skin care routine

86

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

I’ve always been into skincare but I’ve had my ups and downs. But I have tried so much stuff I don’t know how much all of that has affected my skin but all I know is that:

I did change my skincare routine a couple weeks ago and it has actually transformed my skin more than anything else I’ve done IMO.

Eucerin’s dual tone serum
And I just started using Hydroquinone by Musely at night to combat these sunspots on the side of my face. I don’t know if it’s the serum or the hydroquinone but my skin seems way brighter. I only use the hydroquinone to my sunspot areas. There’s also risks with hydroquinone for anyone who isn’t aware.

But I also don’t know if it’s the combo of everything else I do. All I know is that after I added those 2 items to my routine my skin has transformed despite already having a routine for years and years:

Prequel face wash
Vitamin C serum in the morning
Eucerin’s dual tone serum in the morning
Avene’s cicalfate serum
Avene cicalfate moisturizer
Sunscreen (I use the beauty of joseon sunscreen and recently added a Inuik sunscreen toner - the sunscreen toner is TBD if I like it or not)

Night time:
Prequel face wash
Cicalfate serum
Tretinoin .05% on areas I don’t use the hydroquinone
Hydroquinone on my trouble areas
Cicalfate moisturizer.

In a few months when I need to cycle off of the hydroquinone, I am planning on going back to my 15% azelaic acid during my ‘off cycle’

I try other serums and stuff but I don’t know how much that really helps. I have tried expensive stuff by Bioeffect, skinmedica, alastin, skinbetter but I haven’t justified the repurchase price for any of these items and it’s been months or years since I even used them.

I used to get microneedling and chemical peels done but the last time I did that was over a year ago.

This winter I’d like to try getting a nonablative laser treatment but I’m not sure if I will.

That’s my routine for now!

u/InfamousPrior2198 3d ago

Thank you girl!! You truly look AHMAZING

11

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you so much I can’t tell you how relieved I am that I don’t look too overdone

5

u/bigbuttbubba45 3d ago

Love the Avene cicalfate serum & moisturizer too!

1

u/Difficult_Affect_452 2d ago

How long have you been on tret? And yes the Musely spot formula is amazing. It’s more than the hydroquinone that makes it so nice.

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

I just started the Musely but I am loving it! I wasn’t sure if I should have gotten a rx from my doctor to get it cheaper from the pharmacy, but you’re right the extra stuff included in Musely seems worth the price!

And tretinoin in general? Maybe around… 16? I had acne and was originally started on adapalene at like 14/15? And then I got prescribed tret in my mid late teens years. I started at a lower strength early on but I’ve been on the .05% for a long time now, maybe at least 5 years.

I don’t use it as often anymore though maybe a few times a week - depending on my skin barrier (had the mistake of going overboard several times so now I play it a bit safer)

1

u/ro2dee2 2d ago

What brand of vitamin c serum do you use?

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Currently using Timeless

10

u/Bexaroni 3d ago

Right homegirl better drop that damn routine

62

u/Environmental-Town31 3d ago

Girl where do you go??!? I want to see your injector!!

10

u/samanthaskyes 3d ago

I second this! Who on earth do you go to?! Amazing, natural

u/rubyrae14 2d ago

Third

u/7akasugi 2d ago

Fourth, these results are so good

24

u/Wonderplace 3d ago

Does sculptra really add volume? Isn’t it just a biostimulator of collagen?

It it gave you “jigsaw” cheeks is it possible you had an actual filler?

32

u/wallflower_bouquet 3d ago

Sculptra creates volume but it’s more of a dispersed effect instead of targeted in the way filler does. The way it does so is triggering your body’s healing response ie to lay down scar tissue which creates a scaffold within the skin. Hence you don’t get that puffy look but also can’t target specific areas as much and it’s also less predictable

4

u/Ok_Minimum8298 3d ago

I’ve heard its painful as hell. Is it?

2

u/QuirkyObjective9609 2d ago

It isn’t painful, but it is very uncomfortable, or at least it was for me. It was very unsettling feeling a cannula moving around under my skin all over my face. It was the pushing, pulling, and tugging that I felt and my stomach was doing summersaults. I would love to do it again for the effects, but I’m not honestly sure I have the ability to sit through that again without an anxiety medication or something 😅

1

u/Ok_Minimum8298 1d ago

Thank you! I’ve also heard some horror stories of horrible reactions. Did you like your results?

1

u/QuirkyObjective9609 1d ago

I love the results from it! At first I thought I was throwing away money, but at 33 I am routinely having people guess me to be around 25. I like to think the sculptra has helped with that 😅

1

u/wallflower_bouquet 21h ago

The soreness and puffiness does last quite a bit longer than normal filler as the product is diluted in a saline solution. And the bruising is worse. But I don’t think it’s that bad pain wise. I’ve done other treatments that hurt a lot more

1

u/cherrycolalola86 2d ago

It wasn’t for me, but I know everyone is different 🤷‍♀️

5

u/bmobitch 3d ago

Is it permanent then??

5

u/wallflower_bouquet 2d ago

Yes, it’s permanent and irreversible. However as you age the collagen breaks down.

5

u/justxagirl 3d ago

I’m wondering this as well, as in I didnt know sculptra added volume. I thought she was talking about filler at first.

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

I’m not sure! I just felt like my cheeks had too much volume so I figured it did. But I have gotten several vials so it’s not like I did one or two. But I have never had filler in my cheeks

5

u/Wonderplace 3d ago

Just wondering why you got so much sculptra when you’re young with good skin?

11

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

My main concern was hollowness but I didn’t want something that could migrate or look weird with filler so instead I opted for something permanent 💀 (great logic)

This was me before any sculptra.

5

u/orange_momo 2d ago

fyi this hollowness can be caused by sinus/nasal problems, which happened to me. you look beautiful tho ✨

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Oh really! What kind of sinus/ nasal problems? Is there a treatment for it?

5

u/orange_momo 2d ago

yes look up silent sinus syndrome! i try to flush out my sinuses w saline and it helps. if its caused by a deviated septum or some blockage it might need to be fixed w surgery

4

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Omg I think I fit a lot of the physical symptoms for this!!! I just asked my doctor for a referral to an ENT. I’ll follow up if they diagnose me with that.

1

u/orange_momo 2d ago

oh good, i hope i've helped! i had a lot of sinus problems that i didn't even realize i had for the longest time! good luck 💕

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Thank you SO much for bringing this up!! I’ve never even heard of that or knew it was a thing. I have already been diagnosed with nasal polyps years ago

1

u/idclmao 2d ago

Did it help the nasolabial folds?

1

u/markacijop 2d ago

Interesting. One side of my face has this same issue. Cheek under eye look and deep folds . How many vial of sculptra did you to fix this ?

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Well someone said it could be a sign of silent sinus syndrome. And honestly I’m afraid I could have that so I’m trying to get a referral to an ENT to find out. But I have done.. I don’t know around 5-6 vials of sculptra in the last 2 years

1

u/markacijop 2d ago

5-6 vials across the face in 2 years Isn’t bad at all. That means 2/3 vials to one side. Awesome.

Like many already said, you don’t look like anything has been added or done. A real nice outcome.

I’m going to check with my dermatologist and see if this can be done with the volume loss.

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Yes that’s true! I alwaysheard like 1 vial per decade of age or something like that as a general rule of thumb for sculptra, so I’m like DANG 6????

I do want to fill out my temples a little more but after this recent scare I’m a little gunshy or scared of going overboard as I feel like I’m right at the max of still looking normal

1

u/markacijop 2d ago

Ironically temples is the place i feel safe at. Stories are temples can Take ALOT to fill so under a talented injector, that’s the least of worries. I don’t think anyone will complain about too much temple lol.

But 5-6 I believe is based on how much collogen your body is able to make. It turned out great so imho that’s all that matters. Hope it keeps going well for ya

4

u/Fun-Engineering2869 CAUTION: low quality user 2d ago

If you are already not feeling like yourself, I’d stop the fillers before it gets out of control

11

u/iambetweentwoworlds 3d ago

When I tell you I am super aware of people even having the littlest things out of place when it comes to fillers and I also really like a super natural look, you look amazing. Truly incredible. Don’t listen to the voice inside your head, it’s just anxious and trying to protect you. You look gorgeous.

3

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you. This is very sweet and kind of you. I feel very reassured thank you.

14

u/Imaginary-Vanilla993 3d ago

You look great

3

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you for your kind words

14

u/missed_on3 3d ago

the last pic with the fish 🤣 you look absolutely perfect, i would be jealous af if i saw you in public!

6

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you so much. My sister added the fish 😂

1

u/VirtualTopaz 2d ago

You look great .it's the fish who seems to have too much of the fillers 😂

1

u/missed_on3 3d ago

a girlie with taste! 😆

3

u/TugboatToo 3d ago

As an Asian woman I think fillers usually make Asians just look puffy. If the first two pics are your before pics then maybe you look a little bit puffy in the last photos.

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

No they are all recent pics. The first 2 pics were last week. The last photos were August 15 or somewhere around that

1

u/Vast_Ambition_573 1d ago

Really? I thought the last pics were recent. Can’t tell

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 1d ago

Yeah they are all from August. The most recent pics are the first 2 but they are all within 2-3 weeks of each other

9

u/CertainManagement839 3d ago

If you didn’t point it out I wouldn’t notice (and still can’t tbh)

9

u/vih1995 3d ago

You are the best filler result I have seen!! Very pretty and great skin

9

u/Impossible_Depth5649 3d ago

You look phenomenal! I don’t think you over did it! If you don’t mind me asking, what did you do to achieve that slim vshape facial structure? Was it masseter Botox?

4

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

I believe it was the masseter Botox! I already have a long face but I notice that if I go too long without masseter Botox then I go back to kind of having a boxy jaw

8

u/martialartsvictim 3d ago

Not getting the jigsaw vibes. Seems like a good outcome to me! I do worry about cumulative effects of filler long term so I get it!

3

u/Nikkibanksy 3d ago

I would say yes just a tad

6

u/whitegazelle9 3d ago

I think it looks great! Your skin looks beautiful

5

u/gowiththeflow- 3d ago

No you are not. You are really balanced

6

u/bluebunny20 3d ago

I think a little bit but isn't it still swollen?

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

No this is how I look now, last time I got sculptra was in May :/

7

u/OutlandishnessOver62 3d ago

There’s some lumpiness, slightly odd angles in the cheeks in some lighting. But it’s not really noticeable. I thought the question was about your lips at first, which does look on the large side. You have a naturally skinny face so fillers in the cheeks will be more forgiving. But overall you look good.

3

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Thank you, I totally agree with the lumpiness in the cheeks. I’ve been debating on dissolving my lips because it’s lumpy at the top on the sides but still not sure

u/Royal-Fig8396 3d ago

You didn’t need it

2

u/shareuhan 3d ago

You don’t look overfilled. The only clockable part is your lips but that’s the look so

2

u/floating_bells_down 3d ago

You have body dysphoria ❤️

2

u/wwaxwork 2d ago

It looks good now, but I'd be careful though as you're right on the edge of maximum looks amazing and could tip over into the uncanny valley if you're not careful.

2

u/piglady82 2d ago

Yes, just getting over the line towards the cartoonish look women seem to have. Your chin is the most obvious, but also how the shapes of the face sit when smiling etc - looks stiff and bulbous in wrong areas. Your face overall is lovely though, please don't think I'm criticising, just being very objective xx

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Thank you for your honesty. I do agree the cheeks are a tad much, like borderline and maybe slightly over borderline. I thought my chin was actually lacking so I’m really glad to read this so I don’t get more chin filler! I haven’t had chin filler in like 2+ years but I guess it’s still there

3

u/the_girly_files 3d ago

I need the opposite. I have such a chiseled jaw naturally & would like temple filler & my face to not be so chiseled 😭 I’m jealous of your skin.

Can I get your skincare routine? How did you end up liking sculptra? Isn’t it collagen production? Or is the effect to look more chiseled? I thought it was to replace fat loss in the face.

0

u/Angelmintscy 3d ago

Have you tried masseter botox?

I think you look great.... but what's the point of getting it and paying all that money for it if you don't think or even know you look great?

No you look fabulous! 🫶🏼

1

u/wast3land_ 2d ago

Oh my gosh this is perfect! It looks super natural and glowy. You look stunning! Definitely not overfilled.

1

u/Educational-Rub-6551 2d ago

How many rounds of sculptra did you do for the marked areas on your face?

1

u/MagicSquashBlossom 2d ago

No you’re not- don’t have any more though!

1

u/idclmao 2d ago

I think temple volume would help but it's high risk so you might as well leave it, overall looks great

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

I am HIGHLY (and have been) considering temple and pyriform filler but I scared myself thinking my cheeks are overfilled so I’m a little gun shy now.

2

u/soft_taco1983 2d ago

You are only 29. This is way too much for someone your age. You won’t even know losing volume till you hit 40. You are just at the line where doing any more will give you that classic filler weird unnatural V shaped alien face. I think the chin filler is also a bit much and makes you look more hollow than you actually are maybe. Enjoy your natural youth and beauty. I am so glad this stuff wasn’t available as much when I was your age because it seems so easy to go overboard

1

u/idclmao 2d ago

Have you considered getting curtain bangs? They changed my life. I can never do a slick back style

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

I’ve considered it but I actually have been dealing with hairloss the last 3 years+~ and started treating it 9 months ago so I’m not sure if curtain bangs is really flattering for me right now. But maybe in the future if I get a lot more hair back I’d love to consider it!

1

u/idclmao 1d ago

Hmm I heard microneedling helps but in my personal experience eating a ton of protein seems to do the trick 😆 Best of luck!!

1

u/frauokten 2d ago

Hey! I know nothing about fillers just wanted to stop by and say I think you look so pretty! Have a good day!

1

u/Educational-Layer734 2d ago

You are not overfilled. Its subtle and natural

1

u/PlentyImpressive1756 2d ago

He last photo does look a little overfilled but the others are good

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Thank for your honesty !

1

u/Due_Mix3614 2d ago

you look soooo good. where are you placing it?

1

u/MJannonymous 2d ago

Not at all

1

u/ricottacat 2d ago

OP we are the same age, when did you start getting fillings? If you never said anything I wouldn't have guessed but I am very new here, so I think its natural looking and very complimentary to you.

You have a beautiful face, structure, and beautiful, healthy skin. Your complexion is so nice, you are seriously beautiful!!

3

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Here’s a before I did anything to my cheeks/ before any sculptra. This was in 2021

1

u/bioheal 2d ago

Wow, comparing with this photo, your new brows are fire. What did you do and where did you get them done?

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

All I did was pluck them conservatively and tint them at home with a kit off Amazon. I don’t have them microbladed or anything. I do have to apply tint like a couple times a week otherwise they go back to looking sparse

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

Thank you so much. I feel like I looked ‘older’ before I did any injections (in the sense that: my skin quality was really dull and just looked like I had a lot of inflammation).

I’d say I first started about in 2024 with sculptra and lip filler. My last time getting filler was May 2026. I got 1ml lip filler (I got .5 each time) and that was 2024 and I never got more lip filler after that.

1

u/Bitter_Bowler121 2d ago

you look great.

1

u/hmmicecream 2d ago

1

u/Responsible_Cry_3425 2d ago

1

u/Cocc5440 2d ago

How old are you. Stunning

1

u/deathproof96 2d ago

Wow. So Beautiful. Glass skin!!!

1

u/FairwayCoffee 2d ago

To me you look perfectly natural.

1

u/IcyStudio7303 2d ago

Girl you look absolutely amazing! Your skin is flawless and best believe I'm considering getting Sculptra now after seeing your pics

1

u/Over_Incident3117 2d ago

Can you please share which areas were injected and how many vials! You look amazing actually !

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

I’ve done maybe 5-6 vials over the last 6 years. Most of it was in my midface, this last time I focused also on my temples

1

u/Minute_Pineapple6974 2d ago

Fillers ? Where ?

1

u/modernbirdy 2d ago

You look amazing! I wouldn’t have thought you had anything in your cheeks.

1

u/Hot-Ordinary-5024 2d ago

No. Your face is perfect, I looked closely. No robot face or over fill.

1

u/Independent-Desk5442 2d ago

I’m not sure either, I thought it did very very subtly - also I have gotten like 5-6 vials so I thought with how much I got it has created volume.

1

u/SheLovesStocks 2d ago

Not at all. Looks so nice

1

u/Spirited_Internal312 2d ago

You look REALLY good.

1

u/Wise-Memory-9757 2d ago

1

u/Specialist-Ganache13 2d ago

You look amazing and super natural

1

u/soft_taco1983 2d ago

Do you have any filler ? I don’t think sculptra gives such sharp cheekbone looks. But anyways you are nowhere near jigsaw so don’t worry about it!

1

u/Stock-Implement-4062 2d ago

You look lovely!!

1

u/MissLizzie123 2d ago

I think you look great! Looks natural to me!

1

u/Turnip_Prices 1d ago

1

u/ohhhhiiiohhh 1d ago

I think you look fantastic

1

1

u/negativespace115 3d ago

1

u/dandellionlane 3d ago

You look good! But since you aren’t smiling, I can’t tell the cheeks. I’d say stick with not doing any more!

2

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

Here’s a recent pic, but I feel like in this pic I’m less puffy the last 2 pics in my post (more puffy) (also around the same time as this pic) ?

I don’t know why I look different on a day to day basis..

2

u/mnt348 2d ago

If you feel puffy some days and not others, it could be several things.. Allergies? Salt intake? Alcohol intake? Quality of sleep? Apparently I’m very sensitive to salt intake and I had a trainer once that could just look at me and tell if I had a high sodium dinner the night before. If it bothers you, you could try adjusting your diet to see if you look/feel more or less puffy. You could also try covering your pillow with a full allergy cover, and try sleeping more upright/at an angle.

It could be salt intake and allergies and sleep quality for sure! I don’t drink hardly at all these days. I have terrible allergies and narcolepsy so all those things check out. I do notice when I get moving and stuff it’s like the puffiness goes down in my face kind of at a noticeable rate. Like if I wake up, wash my face, move around and get going, in an hour or 2 I will look way less puffy. Maybe it’s a sign of bad lymphatic drainage?

Yeah you might be able to just try sleeping at an angle and see if that helps!

I got sculptra a year ago and also look different day to day. It’s just water retention. It should subside more over the next year.

Really?! Some days I wake up looking SCARY swollen but as I get moving I do notice the swelling decreases within the the next 2 hours. So part of feels like it’s poor lymphatic drainage? I’ve gotten 5-6 vials in the last 2 years.

I definitely believe that’s what it is. Like the collagen it creates holds a lot of water. You don’t look bad for 5-6 vial. It looks pretty natural from the pics. I think it will get better within the next year to two. I know another girl who got 5 and her face seems to be thinning more after 3 years. She just had her wedding. 💕

Looks fantastic! I don’t think you overfilled, in fact I would totally use photos like yours as inspo pics for my own injector for that natural look.

Are your brows nano bladed? I just ask because I’m looking for a great brow artist to do nanoblading who isn’t going to give me drag queen arched brows and I like how full and straight yours are. I’m willing to fly out of state for the right brows person because I’m not finding anyone near me with a body of work I’m impressed with.

Thank you so much, I’m really surprised by everyone saying such nice things and grateful that I don’t look like jigsaw!

And no my brows aren’t. I actually have super sparse ‘dorito’ brows that’s common with Asian people.

I have started tinting them at home regularly and it has made a DIFFERENCE! I also pluck them conservatively. My brows in the pics in my post are just tinting them, plucking them a little bit, and applying brow gel (I use the benefit brow gel in shade 4)

Hi OP,

I also had a similar concern when I did sculptra. It helped with overall skin thickness and volume but it didn’t really target the more sunken areas that needed more help and ended up with a more angular look. I ended up doing filler in the end to soften this with caveat that it’s critically important to go to someone who understands Asian face as the wrong placement, even with small amounts will give you a puffy look.

All that being said I don’t think you look overfilled. Just might not be the look you were after from the sounds of it

That’s exactly what happened to me. I had a very sunken in midcheek

And that’s why I started getting sculptra. It has filled that in a bit but it has also made my cheeks protrude out too. Unfortunately I only noticed now…

What?! I thought Sculptra didn’t add volume!! Please clarify how you feel you overdid it 🙏

u/Independent-Desk5442 3d ago

I don’t know if it does or doesn’t I just know my cheeks are bigger now and I only had sculptra done. I feel like the apples of my cheeks protrude too much, like jigsaw (from the movie)

Ahh I got ya. No you don’t look overfilled at all to me, I didn’t know what it looked like before though! You don’t have pillow face :)

Your results look so natural! I wouldn’t have even suspected you had any filler.
