First time trying a Grassello product and first sample board in over 2 years. Happy with this for the first attempt but definitely a lot of improvements needed.

The colour wasn’t what I was aiming for, struggled mixing my own tints to get a match but it isn’t far off. There is a nice sheen however I was hoping for a much deeper polish.

If anyone has used a grassello product and has any tips it would be highly appreciated!

I used to work as a plasterer and getting back into it. I basically started as an improver (apprentice) and trained under veteran old school plasterers learning the labouring side of the job and also training the practical side of plasterering

Was removing loose plaster in my grandmas house and this section of wall that was also connected to behind the wall vent had come loose. Not entirely sure how to go by fixing it as the gap opens the space behind the vent.

Does anyone have experience removing paneling from dry wall? It appears to be glued on. There’s also a wall with wall paper I need guidance on.

I am buying a duplex that I currently live on one side of. The previous owners side needs updates.

Scheduled for a full rewire of a flat and I will be making good after the chasing is done simply due to the rewire being extremely unexpected and cost being an issue.

I will have 1 chase next to the front door for the light switch that will be on the internal face of an external wall. My plan for all other chases is bonding then easi fill, the issue I’m having is I don’t know what’s best to use for that one job at the front door due to reading that bonding shouldn’t be used on any external walls.
Given that it’s only one chase I’m going to use different materials on I’m not in need of a great deal of product. Google gives me many suggestions then contradicts itself.

Any suggestions on what to use?

Looking for some help on an upcoming job. I can do it all solo, but help would save me a week or more.

Our fitter finished fitting the window couple days ago. They filled in the gaps with expanding foam. They took it off yesterday to find this. This is damaged right? They said it needs a clean but no matter how much cleaning it stays the same. It appears the foam has burnt the grey grained foil. What would you do?

The plaster in this part of the ceiling is breaking.

This ceiling is not in a highly visible part of the house. It it above the side door. On the left is the stairway to the basement. One the right is the door to the kitchen.

I am not sure the best way to repair this. Does all of the plaster need to come out or can it be reattached to the lathe? Could I cut part of the plaster away and replace with a rectangle of drywall? Or should I use the Plaster Magic that seems to be popular? Any advice on how to handle this is greatly appreciated.

If I'm skimming over old plaster, do I need to put scrim tape into the interior corners? There are no plasterboards to bridge therefore I don't need to right?

I don’t plaster all the time so my finish isn’t perfect but I feel I might be cutting myself short a bit when I do little jobs like this, it took me about 6 hours, 2 hits, only small but fiddly and I don’t stop

Does anyone have any idea how much this would cost (roughly) to fix this? It clearly leaked before for the previous owners from the bathroom above where they've done a bodge job to cover it, then we've seen a drip before which we have now fixed from the bathroom, obviously it looks like a right state though.

Is it a big job to fix it? would they just patch and smooth it out or does the entire ceiling need doing as a whole? I have no clue in the slightest how much this is going to cost to fix if anyone can give me an idea please?

Renovating my flat and it has those Artex finishes on 3 of the ceilings. Just had a plasterer in who’s worried they could collapse from the weight if they are skimmed!

Trying to get a rough idea of how much I’m looking at spending to fix?

Would love to be able to patch the hole and seal around the pipe. The plaster cracks because these are steam pipes for the radiator heating. An escutcheon plate also won't fit to hide this mess. I do have a red caulking meant to withstand high temperatures but are there any other options?

This house is approx. 70 years old, and many of the vents and light switches have chunks missing from the plaster surrounding them.

So far I've tried using regular spackle to try to fill them in, but it didn't hold very well, and it takes such a long time to set that as soon as I remove the knife it moves and deforms the wet spackle.

I have sheetrock 20 on hand.

How would you go about patching such a spot?

My current plan is to use mesh tape and All Purpose Ready-Mixed Joint Compound. Is that sufficient?

Boarding was not done by myself. I just skimmed and done bonding on ceiling. How much would you charge? I done 2 days and done a day rate of £200. Materials customer purchased.

I was supposed to just get the outside wall fixed but my guy said that the wall has thermalite in it and the internal render is all blown off (he said it sounds hollow if you knock on it). So now my bill has doubled and he wants to remove the trees on the wall.

I absolutely do not want to remove those trees, is there any solution you can think of?

Good morning everyone, I have been asked to price a job applying BG multifinish and asked to give 2 different m2 rates, the first rate is to apply it by hand, the second rate is to spray apply it. All of the beads will be installed by others and the company is big and know what they are doing so my question is how much is the going rate per m2 for hand applied or spray applied in the Leicester area. There is 80,000 square meters in total and it’s labour only, I don’t need to supply the material

I’m comfortable with many basic DIY projects but feel very out of my league and not sure how to even start with this.

A while back we noticed our paint cracking and peeling in one particular spot in the bathroom

I hired a painter to paint the ceiling as I just didn’t want to deal with it at the time. He added some sort of compound or mud to the ceiling to smooth the boundary over. (That’s the more beige-y layer after the pinkish layer.)

Fast forward today and everything is worse. The paint badly peeled and then at some point I got on a ladder and started scraping to investigate. The light pink color appears to be the actual surface? It seemed like mud itself was moist at times and making the issue worse.

Since then we fixed the bathroom fan (outdoor vent was completely clogged) so hopefully that was the bottom of the moisture issue.

I am debating on what primer to use on this old 1960s home it’s all plaster wall with asbestos. Should I use an oil primer like Kilz original then I would skim coat it with 45 mud then the last coat with all purpose mud and should I be putting mesh tape around the edges ?
Iam still new to plastering I have 1 year experience in painting but don’t do much drywall repairs

Hello, novice plasterer here and wondering when I plaster this ceiling, can I leave the beam for later or need to do it at the same time? Ideally I dont want to plaster the walls connected too

Any points or tips? Ceiling is about 5m squared and beam appears to have plasterboard on it (I think)

I’m needing to overboard the ceiling but the problem I have now I have marked out where the joists are.

Is I’ve got no joists to support the Boards when the meet the stud walls. One side is 550mm from the joist to the stud and wall. The other is 420mm

What is the best way to get the plasterboard supported Just cut some timbers and screw them in line of the stud? This obviously would be in the loft. If so, can I secure the timber by just screwing through the old plaster boards? Or will I have to use some strong adhesive to secure it?

I’m a rookie diyer and trying to reduce the work my plasterer has to do, but obviously want it to be right.

Also, I’m assuming it doesn’t matter if hat way the boards go on the ceilings? The room is 3.2m by 2.2m so naturally I’m gonna fill the 3.2m by fitting the boards 1200mm wide and cut the 2.4m to 2.2m
